Google Analytics - my continuing adventures

Hello
I'd appreciate views of the various metrics I'm struggling with in GA:
I've run 2 different reports that provide 2 different outputs.
1. In Standard Reporting you can report in Traffic Sources on Organic Search by Keyword, which returns the number of Visits.
2. In Custom Reporting you can define the Keyword dimension and the Organic Searches metric, which returns the number of Organic Searches.
This returns 2 different numbers. For example, over the last month for a given term report 1 returns 77,306 visits whilst report 2 returns 52,589 organic searches.
I have found some definitions:
- "Visits represent the number of individual sessions initiated by all the visitors to your site."
- "Organic Searches: number of organic searches that happened within a session. This metric is search engine agnostic."
My understanding of these definitions is that report 2 should return a larger value than report 1 rather than what is happening (i.e. report 1 returns a greater value than report 2).
Does anyone have a greater understanding of what these mean and relate to? Does anyone have any views on which metric is more useful?
Thanks
Neil

Hi Neil,
The reason #2 is lower because a "session" is a period of time. A session is either 30 minutes or once a person closes her/his browser.
For instance, if you had a cupcake shop and I Googled "cupcakes" and came to your site. Then popped out and Googled "buttercream cupcakes" and came back to your site in less than 30 minutes without closing my browser, my searches would count as 2 in #1 and 1 in #2.
Hope that helps!

Using logical operators (AND / OR) in Google Analytics Goal Funnels
When setting up a Funnel within Google Analytics, is it possible to use logical operators (e.g. OR, AND) in the first (required) step of the funnel? For example, suppose I want to track users who visit page1.html AND page2.html before proceeding to the destination goal. I've entered two pages separated by the OR operator, and neither the "Verify this Goal" nor "Save" produces an error message - is it safe to assume that this is working as I intend? Thanks in advance!

Does Google need Analytics installed to create metrics?
Hi Mozers, Does Google know time on site, number of page visits, bounce rate, etc. even if Google Analytics is NOT installed? Does it measure all that stuff anyway, and if you install the GA code on your site, that is so that YOU can see those metrics? OR can Google only see those metrics if you install GA on your site? Thanks! Jane

Would updating Meta Titles affect Google analytics tracking?
Hi All, I need a little bit of help. We need to optimize our blog's articles Meta titles for SEO which all exceed 100 characters. I was told that if we change the titles, google analytics would split the tracking pages and count the data as 2 pages (old title and new title). Has any of you have this experience before and if so, is there a way to avoid google analytics counting this as two pages? Thanks in advance! Does Google encryption of keyword data impact SEO revenue reporting in Google analytics?
Hi there, I know Google has been encrypting SEO keyword data which they rolled out in September 2013. My question is - will this impact SEO revenue figures reported in Google analytics? I have been monitoring SEO revenue figures for a client and they are significantly down even though rankings have not lowered. Is this because of Google's encryption? Could there be another reason? Many thanks!

Google Analytics Organic Keyword (Not Provided) Alternative Hacks?
I'm sure everyone is sick of the (Not Provided) keywords because I know I am, and Google reckons that you should only see 10% or less (I'm currently around 13% and growing). I am seeking alternatives or hacks that will help display the keywords? If you have a hack to actually display the keywords, please share it your ideas and thoughts? I recently implemented a hack that will show the landing page of the keywords which is better than nothing. But as an eCommerce site, I have about 10% of my transactions which not provided, knowing the keywords would really help. Would love to hear your thoughts?

Can you re sit the Google analytics IQ test?
Damn I just failed the Google analytics IQ test with a score of 65% 😞 You need 80% to pass... My natural instinct is to resit but after 30 mins of googling around Ive got no answer to the following question: "Can you resit the Google Analytics IQ test for free or do you have to pay again". Any insights welcome...

Hi I added one google analytics account with a third party business as an admin, and I accidentally shared all the accounts of my clients. So this business have access to all my google analytics account. How do I remove them as an admin of all the GA accounts except the one they need? A step by step process is welcomed 🙂 Thank you,
