Is adding SEO links within Clients Footer good?
-
With the Google Panda update craving quality, relevant content is it acceptable to place a targeted keyword within other customers websites such as " SEO in ......"
?????
Cheers

Tossing this idea out for discussion....
One way that google detects manipulation is the presence of links that point to entirely unrelated websites - especially if they have optimized anchor text. A link like that could paint a small target on either site.
Is it worth the small risk?
-
I always say why not. If the site is relevant, a link is a link even if it's not passing a lot of juice. Those links are easy to put in place and over the time they will help your site.
But don't put them on spammy, irrelevant sites
-
I guess that depends on how much work was involved.
-
Let's say that you get an attribution link in the footer of a PR7 domain with hundreds of PR6 pages and thousands of PR5 and PR4 pages. That would probably propel your site forward. Would you do the design work or the SEO for free if that were the deal ?
-
We had a site-wide (I know) in the footer of a huge site which seemed to propel us to P1 of G for a competitive term. Of course I accept that there's more to it than just that but of late I have been wondering how much of the things we stopped seeing value in, still actually hold more value than we think.
-
Yes i agree, Thats why i said somtimes, when i made a site, not SEO, i should of said used to do. if i detected any hint of displeasure i removed them.
If i thought they were of any great use thenn i would still be doing so, but as i host most sites I build on same ip or c-block and in the footer, i dont think there is much tobe gained.
-
I think that this is more of a customer relationship question than a search engine question.
Most designers believe that designer links are customary in the footer. Some people think that a "design by XYZ Marketing" without a link is proper attribution. In any case such links or attributions should be clearly mentioned in the design contract.
Some webmasters simply don't want links in their footer and the designer should be willing to accept that but charge a little more for the loss of attribution.
Some SEOs think that if they do SEO on a client's site that they are entitled to sitewide links in his footer. My personal opinion is that the SEO should be doing everything possible to help the client instead of sucking his linkjuice. SEOs should be able to build their own links.

I put a link in a the footer of sites i build some times, they would still be of some vallue but not much.

Negative Keywords for SEO
Hi Mozzers, I have a client that has a totally legit retail business and they are getting lots of traffic organically that is adult in nature and totally off subject. The reason for this is their domain name contains keywords which while work well for their brand, when reordered and couple with a another keyword (such as picture or image) they get traffic for searches that have nothing to do with them and are pretty awful in nature. If this was Adwords I'd add a negative in of course but how can I stop bad traffic coming to the site organically? Any ideas? Cheers B 🙂

Adding social media to SEO service
Hello, I have been struggling to handle and recommend social media work from my clients to help with their rankings and online presence. Often, it is ignored; however, as everyone knows only so much benefit can be gained through directory listings and stellar on-page optimization. I am wondering if someone could lend a hand on how they take over the social media tweeting/blogging/content etc for a third party so that it is still authentic both to their clients, and also seemingly to Google? Any insight would be helpful! Thanks in advance!!!! 🙂

Do Dashes in Domain names hurt SEO ranking?
I have found conflicting reports online whether or not dashes in domain names hurt/help ranking. Example yourbrandonline.com vs your-brand-online.com? I found Rand's write up on how to select a domain and he suggests staying away from hyphens but mainly because its hard to remember or people my enter it in wrong. Here's his comment. "Reject Hyphens and Numbers
Branding | | JoshKimber
Both hyphens and numbers make it hard to give your domain name verbally and falls down on being easy to remember or type. I'd suggest not using spelled-out or roman numerals in domains, as both can be confusing and mistaken for the other." Aside from people possibly struggling to get there directly because of the domain name, are they OK to use? Or, are domains with hyphens considered spammy? Thanks in advance.1 -
How do you promote a G Plus page? Where are the G+ ads?
Hi All, My question doesn't actually refer to the fluent work of maintaining a page but rather to the basics. In our Facebook page we simply "bought" ads leading to our page and got the followers over time. I don't see an equivalent option in G+. Do I need to use regular adwords and point people to the G+ page or is there a place I can place ads inside G+? Thanks

Yahoo Directory, BOTW, BBB and Business.com for local SEO?
I've heard conflicting reports about using these paid directories for SEO purposes. I am a local Realtor with a website and blog. My site is on page one but near the bottom since the national sites dominate the top. Would these directories help me for local seo purposes? Does Google consider these paid links and therefore devalues them? How difficult is it to get into these directories since they can decline a submission and there goes my money? Are these directories worth the money? In total it would be like $1200 do get on all. I've already done what I believe to be a lot of good seo practices. Emphasis on I believe since I'm no expert. Just learning as I go. Now I'm up against the big brands in real estate and meet to compete. Any tips if these directories are worth it and anything else I should look to do?

Building Site Authority vs. Link Building
Hi,
Branding | | rayvensoft
I just watched the recent Whiteboard Friday, and I have one question. He talks a lot about "Building Site Authority". Is that just Link Building, or is it something else? If it is Link Building, does that mean that exchanging (3 way, or non-reciprocal) links with other "relevant" and good sites still works, as long as you use your brand name and/or url in the anchor text? Or did I misunderstand. Is "Building Site Authority" something entirely different from Link Building? Sorry if it is a basic question, I just want to make sure I understand the difference if there is one. Thanks in advance!0 -
