Google+ Ranking Factors - Are Keywords meaningless ?
-
Hello Mozers!
On the Conversation Marketing blog, Ian Lurie published a lengthy article called Google Plus Box Ranking Factors Report. In it, he claimed amongst other things, that "Keyword relevance of your posts: Totally meaningless. Write whatever you want. Seriously. Just make it good."
What say you?
Are keywords really meaningless?
Thanks in advance!

I've seen examples that If you bold title posts like this it can appear in the personalized results for targeted keywords.
The most influential factors for appearing within the G+ Internal search are:
Personal Profiles - Keywords in Bio, Employment, Education; Account verification; Number of times you appear in other peoples circles
Brand Profiles - The number of times you appear in other peoples circles; brand verification & whether you have a the main keyword in the brand page name (although if this isn't consistent with your official website it jeopordises the brand verification with the rel=publisher coding)

For Ian's study on Google Plus Box Ranking Factors - I agree, Keyword relevance is not a huge factor. Don't think it really needs to be, since the Plus Box seems to provide influential people on a broad subject/topic. However, I don't expect to see Madonna popping up for SEO in the Google Plus box anytime soon. I'm not exactly sure where Google is pulling the data to associate the influencer with a particular keyword/topic, but I'm sure it has something to do with search trends, engagement (+1s, posts, etc..) and a variety of other factors.
As for your question "Google+ Ranking Factors - Are Keywords meaningless." This would be a totally different story and I believe keyword relevance has to be an important factor.

Will the articles or blog-posts will get more visibility and do better in ranking by publishing them in different formats like videos?
Hi all, I just wonder how much the different formats of an actual content will bring more ranking improvement or visibility for an article or blog-post or landing page. If a topic has been created in video and slides, will that helps landing page at Google technically? Thanks

Is it important for SEO that YouTube and Google + be used under the same Google Account?
Hello - I have a client that has their Google Plus and YouTube under separate Google accounts. My thoughts are that it'd be best for SEO and awareness with Google that their active YouTube channel to be under their active Google Plus account. My question is: Is it recommended for SEO that we upload the videos to her prominent Google business account (they only have about 100 subscribers)? If we did this we would delete them from the other account to avoid dup. content. We are in a position where we can make this change easily if it is recommended and good for SEO--which I would think it would be. So we would like to know now if we should make this change before we grow the YouTube channel further, or if we should leave it how it is. Any insight would be very helpful! Thank you!

Google Plus Cover image
Does anyone have any tips on getting a super crisp cover image uplaoded to G+? I have a clear image, full dimensions of 2120 x 1192, but once I've uploaded it, G+ appears to compress it and it loses sharpness / quality. I have turned auto-optimise off, and and tried both JPEG and PNG files - PNG seems to work better, but still not quite there. Example: https://plus.google.com/116325067504054061939 (scroll up to see blurry text) Thx!

Google will divide ranking power
between the two pages
so maybe just generic sales

Google + Profile in Serps
Hello, Ive noticed some of my competitors show up with both verified and non-verified Google+ Icon, and recent activity showing to the right usually where PPC shows. Is it possible for smaller sized businesses to accomplish something like this? Im assuming this is not paid? Thank You

Has anybody else noticed that Google has made a significant change to their SERP? There is a lot of social data reported from LinkedIn, Youtube and Facebook (includes page likes and activity) when you search by company name. Thoughts anybody?

Facebook Comments | Massive Overall Increase in Rankings! Anybody else experience this?
Last week I implemented Facebook Comments and Addthis to my site. Rankings went up for nearly all my keywords. I have people from Africa, Europe and USA asking questions. Every time someone comments, it is shared on their Facebook Wall. I want to know if anybody has experienced this besides me? Here's my site if you want to see it in action.
