Rankings in Google UK
-
Hi there,
Can someone explain the difference between the results in Google UK - the default is 'The Web', whereas I can opt to choose 'Pages from the UK'.
My question is:
-
If I'm tracking rankings for Google United Kingdom in SEOMoz, is it tracking the results from 'Pages from the UK' or the default setting of 'The Web'?
-
Are there any statistics on how many people choose to see 'Pages from the UK'?
Thanks

You can set the seomoz rank tracking to only track from Google.co.uk if you need to.

Hi,
The difference between results from Google UK and Pages from UK is this: Google UK - The Web will display all the sites that rank in the UK no matter where the site originates from. For example - If I start a website and host it in South Africa but I receive a whole bunch of links from the UK for a term, it will be possible that my site will rank in "Google UK - The Web" for that term.
However, "Pages from UK" will only display sites that originate from the UK. So my site from South Africa wouldn't appear on these search results no matter what I do (unless I try hosing the site in the UK and I don't have country specific URL such as ".co.za".
-
I'm not 100% sure but I do believe that SEOMoz will track results from "The Web" and not "Pages from the UK".
-
I don't know of any statistics about this but my guess would be that there aren't many people choosing "Pages from the UK" compared to "The Web". (Please try confirm this though)
I hope this helps!
Shaun

Hi Columbus,
I believe that the difference between the two search results is that the first one is a hybrid search (global with a high local search influence - Google Update "Venice") while the second one is pure local.
From GWMT you can set up where you want to target your website. Now if you have picked US instead of UK, that you eliminate yourself from the Search Results which show results only from the UK.
I hope it helped,
Istvan

When using Moz Pro do I want Google-UK or -GB as default and why?
Hi. When using Moz Pro, I always select Google UK as default search with GB and US next. Is there a reason to choose one over the other? If so why? I am UK based and so are my clients. Thanks

What works when common ranking factors fail?
I have seen in few instances where the ranking factors doesn't seem to work for competitive keywords. The websites which don't have more than one or two links rank much higher in search results. Any clue what SEOs should do in that scenario?

Moz vs google data conflict?
Hi there, I am doing an SEO site audit for a client(giveaway, and here is the problem: when performing site:domain.com on google --> 13,800 pages were found When I see this number it seems to be a bit too much compare to the links i checked on integrity(link check for broken links) which gave me a result of 1291. I digged in more into the Google results and saw hundreds(maybe thousands) of pages that are blocked by robots.txt. So I am thinking, ok this is it, thousands of pages can't be crawled by the search engines. Here is the big BUT though, then I check at my moz crawl (see attachment) and no pages are blocked by the SEs, and then look at the dups, only 23 recorded?? Is Moz not crawling properly the 13,800 results that google finds or is this some magical phenomenon happening here? I am really confused here that is why I need some help here! Thank you guys! How can I change the day my keyword rankings are updated?
I have several campaigns which currently get their weekly keyword ranking reports updated on different days. I'd like all of them updated on the same day, so I can just check in one a week for everything.

Pro Dashboard Rankings Report not accurate for the UK?
We rank in the top 5 consistently for our keywords on www.google.co.uk However, the ranking report (set to Google UK) shows that we don't appear in the top 50. When looking in more detail at the keyword in question, it shows the top ranking sites to be all US sites with .com domains that don't rank at all on google.co.uk. Can anyone shed some light on this or tell me if there is any way of getting accurate ranking reports via SEOmoz tools for UK sites, so I don't have to do it manually? Thanks in advance
