Big Link Network Taken Down

Seen this?

They seem to be good minded about what happened.

Does anyone have a list of websites that BMR was sending articles too? We have a Outsource SEO company that i think is using some kind of automated link building software. Im afraid the links they have built have been seen as spam and has caused our rankings to drop. I just want to make sure they werent using BMR and we are being penalized for it
-
I'm really glad this happened. I have been so disillusioned with Google for awhile. So much crap and spam ranks and continues to rank, and it can be really discouraging. It's nice that they're finally cracking down; it makes me feel safe about my choices and I hope to see my competitors drop in the SERPs soon, since they've been spamming all over the place.

I think the one thing that people like to forget is that everything related to SEO is done to manipulate positioning. Everyone is buying links one way or another. If someone is paying for SEO services they have bought a link. If someone is in a link directory, they have bought a link. If you have taken the time to ask a customer to give you a positive review on Google maps then you have manipulated rankings and paid for it too. There is still an opportunity cost with everything and if time is money, you have spent money on your efforts. Is it any better than what BMR did? In many ways no.

We used Build My Rank for a few months (canceled our subscription 3-4 months ago), and got a notice from Google about unnatural links last week. We also have several unpaid media mentions, so I am not sure if Google is talking about Build My Rank or something else. Is there a normal time-frame in which Google takes action to recalculate Page Rank for people linked to the de-indexed Build My Rank articles? We just started subscribing to SEO Moz and are still learning how to check out our backlinks and Open Site Explorer.
-
Yes ! (I apologize for the double posting).

Casablanca?

When I read that part of BMR's post, I heard Claude Raines saying "I'm shocked that gambling is going on" and Peter Lorre saying "Your winnings sir". B.S. indeed.
-
lol... thanks for the report.
Those are probably the guys who have already been banned from Adsense.
-
Lol, it's true. You want to see a real wasteland, check out any products that are offered via Amazon affiliate sales. There are reams of pages of spun product descriptions with Amazon affiliate links. Mostly on blogspot and sites.google.com
Ironic, no?
-
Most of my "alerts" are from crap on sites.google.com
-
Interesting. I knew this was coming when my daily Google Alerts started becoming full of absolutely crappy blog network posts that were obviously spun or written by someone with neither command of language nor authority on the subject matter. I blame/credit the noobs.
-
Well we may all see a rise in rankings as thier users take a hit, good news.
Let use know if you see some evidence of incresed rankings. as this was not the only netword to have ben taken down latly
-
lol.... right... that did hit really high on my BS meter.
-
I refuse to believe this comment in the BMR blog post: "In our wildest dreams, there’s no way we could have imagined this happening."
Please.
They had a great run, and I bet they made some serious $$ during the lifetime of this product (which they had to know wouldn't last forever).

Great to see Google making examples of certain groups out there like this, but that being said are they doing it quick enough and are they leaving themselves, and us, wide open to short term gamers of the system.
There a lot of talk out there about how White Hat SEO will prevail, which is of course true, but I can't help feeling these opportunists whilst i'st taking so long for them to be taken down are taking a significant market share at any given time.

2011 was an interesting year in the Google index cleanup. It will be fun to watch 2012 and see how far Google goes.
-
I always assumed Google would have 1 or more staff dedicated to manually hunt/ look out for link building networks. It doesn't take couple of hours to get a list of dozens of these popular networks where hundreds/ thousands people buy and exchange links. If anything I am surprised it took Google so long to catch up to them.
What would be even more interesting to see is if they are able to catch up to all the 'participants' in this network and be able to discount all those links
-
Well, this was expected... I'd say.
I have a feeling that if 2011 had major changes in the SEO world (to focus more on the quality vs. quantity), 2012 will have a bigger impact on search results.

I think it’s only natural to be good minded about something when you already know what the outcome could be at any time. They obviously broke the Google webmaster guidelines similar to JC Penny except they are the ones who are selling the links to others. My personal opinion is that many of these companies that are breaking Google’s rules are in it for the short term. They already planned ahead by taking advantage of the time until caught. At the same time, it seems to be a psychological thing; many people think its normal paying for links because it’s become a common thing.

see for yourself

Saw this earlier today from a Newsletter. Kudos to Buildmyrank for openly accepting what happened and stuff. Anybody who was using their network for links, would they care to provide some examples of the kind of links were generated through their network ? I am kinda curious to look at them and see what patterns if any existed in there.

Are these links helping
Hi, We have had a few new links for a client and we are hoping that we can get some feedback on whether these have any link juice. We dont want to waste our time with links that dont benefit the website. How to analyse a big drop in external links
Hi! Can someone tell me the best way to determine what caused a big drop in External Followed Links? I have used tools like remove em in the past to try and get rid of exact match keyword links but I'm unsure if this was the root cause. Our rankings went up the 3 months after this period, but this year they have dropped back to levels from 2015. I'm wondering if this drop has anything to do with this decline. See attached. EHyIy

Thoughts on creating a resource/recommend links page in order to attain links?
Hey guys, Just wondering, how does Google view reciprocal link building nowadays? I've heard in the past that it's something that Google isn't particularly keen on. However, more recently, I've also read that - as long as the links are decent (and in moderation) - link exchanging is by no means a bad thing. The reason I ask is that I'm thinking of creating a "resource/recommended links page" for a client of mine. Because of their industry, it's really apparent that attaining links is often only possible if there is the opportunity of a reciprocal link in return. Therefore, I'd need to have a resource/recommend links page of my own. Is this something I should go ahead with to make it much easier to attain links? Or should I try to avoid reciprocal links and attempt to pinpoint one-way linking opportunities - even if they're thin on the ground? Any help much as appreciated as always. Cheers.

Is it a reciprocal Link ?
Hi, I found a great website and tought its content would be extremely interesting for our clients. I wrote about it on my blog (which has an URL with our website URL in it) , Facebook Page and even in Twitter. Meanwhile, I contacted them and offered to write an article about an interesting subject for them. They accepted and liked it so much that they decided to put 2 links for us on two of their pages. My questions are : Will this be a reciprocal link for Google? Did I make a mistake talking about them on my blog ? Did I «devaluate» the links they gave us?

JavaScript is crawled by search engines, isn’t it? Does it mean that links embedded in JavaScript pass link juice?
I wonder If links embedded in JavaScript from an external Website pass link juice to the linked page and thus have a positive effect on google rankings. I read that JavaScipt is craweld. Does it mean that also the link juice is passed? I'm looking forward to your answers.

Link Location: In main page or inner "Link" page?
My question is what´s best of Link Building: have it in main page or in internal Link Pages. I have the problem that have to reduce the number of outgoing links in my mainpage to rank better, but do not want to miss any linkjuice. How Linking in Main Page or Internal Pages affects SERP for your website? And should they be Follow or not Follow? Thanks in advance Maria Jesus
