Linking to Google Place page??
-
I'm wondering if anybody has tried and had success in improving search rankings by creating links to Google Place pages. What say you?

Hi bdiddy,
As a rule of thumb, if you want Google to like you--use their stuff
That goes for using the Webmaster tools and as some would argue, the adwords paid search (a little more controversial).
But as for your question, maybe you can clarify what it is you're looking for? Are you trying to get your Google Places listing higher in the results, or are you trying to get your website (www.yourdomain.com) higher in the SERPs by using Google Places as a backlink?
If it's the latter, understand that all the links on a Google Places page are "rel=nofollow". You won't gain any link juice (or friends at Google) if you make a bunch of place pages and link them back to yourdomain.com
If it's the former, and you want to get your places page higher in the local search, see Rand's research. There are a number of factors that go into winning in local search, but chief among them is making sure your business listing is consistent across the web.

Why is OSE not showing Google+ bio link in backlink profile?
Hi fellow mozzers I wonder why opensiteexplorer (ose) isn't showing Google+ bio links in backlink profile reports of websites that get a link from the "about" page of a Google+ account (+ contributor link). Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Jacob

Best way to get over the Hump (from page 2 to page 1)
Hello, I've recently been able to bring my site way up in the rankings for some very competitive keywords. I've done nothing spammy, and everything has been done with a lot of detail and a focus on only using the best techniques. My site is on page 2 for a lot of keywords. What would be your suggestions for getting over that hump and making it to page 1? I'm happy with my results (coming from pages 30-50 to page 2 over a couple of months) but I'm not satisfied and won't be until I can be on the top of page 1... Any suggestions are welcome... Thanks

When does Google Webmaster update your links to site??
Hi everyone We removed a load of links from a site over 2 months ago but they still show in Google webmaster tools. I understand Google will not be reading this links as they were removed so long ago. However I just was interested when Google might update these as not showing as linking to us anymore. I like to try and keep things tidy and its a bit frustrating it would be good to be 100% sure what Google is counting at any given time. Cheers James

Do Facebook pages behave like a regular website pages?
Would be grateful for an answer if Back links convey a benefit to facebook pages just like as they do with a regular website page with better search engines search results.

Are the following considered bad links for Link Building.
I've been doing a lot of research lately on link building & I've read a lot about having a diverse amount of links. Social links, Blog links, comment links, footer links, No follow links, Directory links as well as links with Anchor text URL match, brand match, partial brand match, non-descriptive, and with keywords. But there is a lot of talk of removing those links that look like a site that's built just for link building purposes.... but Directories are basically built for link building are they not? I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if they feel links from the following directories would be bad links. (Non-Paid) http://www.yoganza.com http://www.wkool.com http://www.wee-directory.com http://www.voicelet.com www.hotfrog.ca http://www.webdirectorieslist.com http://multiplelistingboard.com http://mozdirectory.net http://freedirectorypr.info Industry specific below: http://bestautolinks .com http://automotivedome.com http://automobilebuzz.com http://craigsautolinks.com Thanks so much for the help!

LINK BUILDING. IN MAIN PAGE OR INNER PAGES?
I have a question about Link Building. What´s best for SEO, putting the links in main page or using a Link page inside with all the links? I would also like to know what´s best for SEO follow or not follow links, and how they work? Thanks in advance. Maria Jesus

Will redirecting 250 linking domains to a new website from an old website freak Google out?
Prior to my accepting a project, the client decided to change the name of their company and purchased a new domain name to match. They hired a designer to build their new company site which has now been up and running for a little under 12 months. Up to this point they have done a good job of slowly redirecting small handfuls of linking domains from the old site to the new. They want to make one last push and point the remaining 250 linking domains from their old site to their new site. Will redirecting 250 linking domains to a new website from an old website freak Google out? If so, how many domains should be redirected at one time? My main concern is not wanting to upset Google and see the floor fall out on current keyword rankings, domain authority and page rank, etc.

Links to commercial pages vs resources.
My company has a number of resources pages that are garnering links from external sources. It won't be long before these links outnumber the breadth and the quality of links to my homepage and commercial pages. Does having a lot more links to the resources pages risk unbalancing flow of PageRank around the site? What I want to avoid is a situation where my homepage has a lower PR than my blog/resources, or people searching for relevant terms getting directed to my blog/resources (with many high-quality links) than to my commercial pages (which will have fewer).
