Videos impact on SEOmoz On Page Analysis
-
For several years we've heard that Google rewards pages that include videos with significantly higher page ranks, however I do not see video incorporated into the On Page Analysis. One of our competitors ranks 1st-3rd on a several keywords while the On Page Analysis tool grades them as an F for the same keywords. This competitor uses video more than any of the others, and has far more YouTube subscribers. I suspect video plays a role in their excellent SERP.
Is there a video evaluation tool within SEOmoz? If not, is one coming, or is there a reason why it would not be appropriate?
Does anyone have suggestions for incorporating the use of videos in SEO evaluations and recommendations?
Thank you,
Michael

Hmmm...what's interesting is that many folks suggest hosting it on youtube since google is now indexing youtube videos on your site. This way you get the traffic spike from youtube search, and google indexing the video.
Here's a link to see all the videos google has indexed for my site.

Yeah I don't think SEOMoz has a video evaluation.
Some tips for adding video.. Host it yourself! and make it so people can embed it.. this will gain a link from the website. You can also make / submit a Video sitemap.

why google never shows Coursera or Udemy videos in the SERP?
I work for a website pretty much like Coursera, and google never brings up our videos in the SERP. It has been indexed and Search Console URL Inspection tool identifies it as a video object. is it a technical issue or just google doesn't like to show us in the SERP? Is there any way to fix this?

Video SEO Markup Test
Hey Everyone, I'm trying to get a video marked up on my (test) website and it is not working. I was hoping someone around here could lend a hand. the post is www.zachsemago.com/?p=28 This is my first ever markup attempt. I assume I just put the markup that applies in the appropriate place in the wordpress post. I thought I had it setup right, and the google rich snippet testing tool told me it extracted some video data. I chose to rank for something without competition so I targeted "how to buy a car on jupiter, mars". The post shows up #1 for that term and some other related ones, but no video. I thought I had covered all my bases, can someone please take a peek and let me know if I'm screwing up somewhere? FYI, I don't have a video sitemap operating. Of the articles I read, it seemed a video sitemap was not mandatory. But regardless my brain has turned to mush on the subject so if I should/shouldn't use one pleas tell! Thanks

Embedded Video Sharing Count As Links?
I am considering using Wistia as a video platform to host video content I don't want listed on YouTube. One of the features they have (I bet they all do) is to allow other webmasters to embed the video on their site as well. If a webmaster embed's one of my Wistia videos on their site, do I get link juice? ...or is this only helpful to help spread branding?

Self Hosting Videos in Wordpress
Hi, I'm trying to figure out the best way to host my own videos on my website in addition to uploading them to YouTube. My site is Wordpress-based, and I use Pages for the main landing pages, Posts to create the different products I offer. Is there a good way to upload my videos of each product into those Posts for SEO purposes? Maybe there's a specific plugin that I should be using? Thanks in advance, Shawn
