Converting Old Web Site to Wordpress
-
I have a website I would like to update and convert to WordPress. My site rates very highly for the keywords I care about and I have a lot of domain authority and page authority that I don't want to lose. I'm concerned about the switch as I don't want to hurt my Google positioning, but would like the benefits of a WordPress site.
Any assistance and advice is appreciated.

I've done several upgrades to wordpress. I'm assuming you are going to keep all the same content, so make sure the url structure matches. Easy if you are already something like /page-title. Doing that in wordpress is done through /wp-admin/options-permalink.php and your page or post titles can also be individually modified.
If those all match up, you shouldn't have a problem! Make sure your theme is quality and loads quickly.

Absolutely. The entire question is whether the move is done correctly. There are site owners who have been in your exact situation and have seen little to no change in rankings, while others have had significant improvements and others have had ranking drops.
It is important to manage the URL structure, internal links and other aspects of your site during the move.

What kind of assistance would be helpful Greg?
I can share WordPress is the most popular blog software in the world. It is used to run millions of websites. That popularity is very helpful in that there are tons of developers who create extensions to add extra functionality to the core software.
While you can build a site yourself easily with WordPress, I highly recommend involving a professional developer. Many users simply buy a template and make adjustments themselves, but they experience many issues related to SEO. A few examples: lack of a Responsive Design mobile site, issues related to coding errors, issues where the site appears fine on one browser but not in others, crawl errors and much more.
If you wish to learn more about WordPress and some great extensions, I would recommend Yoast as a great resource. Joost De Valk, who runs the Yoast site, is a very experienced, dedicated WordPress developer.

Site Crawling with Firewall Plugin
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with the WordPress Simple Firewall plugin. I have a client who is concerned about security as they've had issues in that realm in the past and they've since installed this plugin: https://wordpress.org/support/view/plugin-reviews/wp-simple-firewall?filter=4 Problem is, even with a proper robots file and appropriate settings within the firewall, I still cannot crawl the site with site crawler tools. Google seems to be accessing the site fine, but I still wonder if it is in anyway potentially hindering search spiders.

If I want clean up my URLs and take the "www.site.com/page.html" and make it "www.site.com/page" do I need a redirect?
If I want clean up my URLs and take the "www.site.com/page.html" and make it "www.site.com/page" do I need a redirect? If this scenario requires a 301 redirect no matter what, I might as well update the URL to be a little more keyword rich for the page while I'm at it. However, since these pages are ranking well I'd rather not lose any authority in the process and keep the URL just stripped of the ".html" (if that's possible). Thanks for you help! Mobile site not ranking
Hello, Our main site ranks well for all the keyword terms, and yet, our mobile site is buried. It is a "m." configuration, and I am wondering if it is a question of not using the correct programming language to get it there? Or if the redirects to the main site should relate differently? I have tried to read up on the topic of mobile site SEO and cannot find (or understand) the answer? Could someone please help? Thanks so much in advance!

Moving Old Site to New
Dear SEO Gurus, I have been working on #2 site for a couple of months and I think it is a good idea to redirect #1 (old site) to #2 (new site) below, yes? What is the most effective way of doing this? Do I have to 301 Redirect one page from the old site to a relevant page on the new site and do this for every page.... or can I do a 301 redirect for the whole old site to the new site? Thank you for your time in advance for helping me out! Sheryl | | 1 | Gazpachos - Restaurnte Y CantinaExplore http://www.gazpachorestaurant.com/ |

Deleted Old Site - Relaunched on Same Domain
Now I have a bunch of links that are dead. (45 to be exact) What should I do? Rebuild the links, 301 redirect them to the homepage, 410 them? I didn't get a lot of external traffic from the links (maybe ~500 uniques/mo). Of that traffic, most of the users would bounce, my SEO wasn't very good so the content they received wasn't as relevant as it could have been. I'm not really worried about losing the traffic, but rather minimizing any penalty from google.

Recently revamped site structure - now not even ranking for brand name, but lots of content - what happened? (Yup, the site has been crawled a few times since) Any ideas? Did I make a classic mistake? Any advise appreciated :)
I've completely disappeared off Google - what happened? Even my brand name keyword does not bring up my website - I feel lost, confused and baffled on what my next steps should be. ANY advice would be welcome, since there's no going back to the way the site was set up.
