CSV file messed up
-
I cannot convert my exported CSV file to a proper excel sheet. The data is mixed, so converting doesn't work. Some rows have all data in the first cell (column), some rows have data in first AND second cell..
Anyone a solution?

OpenOffice did the trick.. Excel also did ask me what to use (comma), but it just did gave me the right results.
Thanks!!

Hi Nancy,
It looks like you're opening a comma-separated CSV with a different delimiter. My first suggestion is to see if there's a way to open the file with a comma delimiter. The delimiter is the character that tells the CSV to start a new cell or row.
If you can't find one, I'd recommend downloading OpenOffice (it's free and legit, run by Apache) and opening the file in it. The great thing about OpenOffice is that, unlike Excel, it asks what delimiter you want for your data. Choosing a comma should do the trick, and you should see the data line up correctly in the preview pane.
We have this issue in reverse - we provide CSVs that are semi-colon separated by default. Our European customers open them easily. Our American customers need this work-around.
Good luck!

Problems with csv file from OSE
Hello Support, I have problems with the formatting of csv files from OSE in Excel. I got lines that only contain -- and these lines break up the data. It is possible to correct this manually but a bit annoying if you have 1500+ links generated in the file. I work a lot with csv files from other tools and programs and those give me no problems. Can you help me out please? Greetings Rob

Why does the csv export from OSE only include 25 of the 90+ links?
In OpenSiteExplorer, I clicked "Download CSV" for a report on backlinks from one domain to another. The online visualization in OSE showed 93 external inbound links from site A to site B. When I opened the report, there are only 25 linking pages listed. How do I download the full list?

SEOmoz Crawl CSV in Excel: already split by semicolon. Is this Excel's fault or SEOmoz's?
If for example a page title contains a ë the .csv created by the SEOmoz Crawl Test is already split into columns on that point, even though I haven't used Excel's text to columns yet. When I try to do the latter, Excel warns me that I'm overwriting non-empty cells, which of course is something I would rather not do since that would make me lose valuable data. My question is: is this something caused by opening the .csv in Excel, or earlier in the process when this .csv is created?

I'm not getting the csv emailed in OSE? Anyone else?
The new version of the tool does not allow me to download the data via csv immediately. It says it will email in 5-10 minutes and never comes? Anyone else having this problem? Cheers

Exporting .csv
I love all the data Roger gives me if I ask him politely. It's awesome to turn that data into a nice looking Excel file for analysis. There is however one situation that gets me into trouble. When I export CSV, open it in Excel and convert text to columns (seperated by comma) and e.g. a Page Title contains a comma (which often happens); my file seperation is messed up. Anyone got some tips to handle that? Thanks in advance mozzers
