Are aboutus.org links good?
-
Greetings Mozzers,
I've posted several clients on aboutus.org sometime ago and it doesn't look like it is showing up on OSE. Its been well over 5 weeks.
I have looked on their profile and none of the links are rel="nofollow" is there another thing I can check that would take all the juice away from them? Or does someone know if this is a good place to use?
Thanks for any advice and clarification!

Thank you very much for you clarification.

Thank you for your insight on this matter.

I'm not sure whether AboutUs.org is somehow hiding the rel="nofollow", but I know that they give complete pages DoFollow links only if you ask them.
Shoot AboutUs.org an email at dofollow@aboutus.org and see whether the pages have been cleared. If they have, just wait for OSE to catch up.
I completely agree with Nakul's point about not worrying about appearing in Online Site Explorer. Just look at Google first.

Honestly, all(most) links are good links. I would not stress out on those links not showing up in OSE. Just make sure they are cached by Google and if they are, you are good. Other tools will eventually find them. There's just an infinite amount of data on the web and we can't expect "anybody" to be able to crawl it all.
If I were you, I would move on to my next set of things.

Sudden and dramatic decrease in External Followed Links and Total External Links
I'm not sure how or why this has happened but from a span of a week my client's site went from 518 total external links to 97. I also saw a dramatic decrease in traffic for that week as well. I'm new to the SEO game but I have not made any changes to their content other than importing old blog posts that did not get migrated to their new host. Any thoughts? www.cobbcountyattorneys.com Thanks! JC

Internal/External link ratio
I have a client who ranked #3 for a very important and highly competitive keyword phrase. Using the 'Compare Pages' tool in open site explorer I could see that we were far better optimized than the two websites that were out ranking my client. Our PA was higher, the MozRank was higher, more internal and external links (and the external are all high quality) more linking C blocks etc.. etc... not just the page but the website, in general, was better optimized. The one thing I did notice was that although we had more internal and external links, our ratio was far heavier to the external side than the ratio of either competitor. So, at a loss of what else to do, I went through the website and beefed up the internal links to the specific page in question. I didn't over do it, just moved up from about 6% to about 12% (one competitor was at about 20% while the other was about 65%). Six days later we are number two rather than number three. Coincidence? Should I beef it up even more? Has anyone ever come across anything like this? Thank you for your comments in advance.

How to combat competitor buying who is buying links and winning.
I have a competitor who is buying links in the Featured Advertiser Links section of Washington Post online. His backlink profile is a very low # of referring domains. (38ish) with a good bit being repeats of Wahington Post. My question, is their strategy within Google guidelines, and what can I do to combat it? Thanks.

One client - 2 domains / same business - good or bad idea?
This is a follow up to a previous question actually: My client has one domain that has 'hardwood flooring' in it and one that has 'concrete polishing' in it - both services they offer. **Would it be wise (for seo purposes) to have them both point to ONE domain (more general of course) ** **- They only have a few local competitors that aren't doing anything to rank well. ** **- They aren't trying to rank nationally. ** If the smart thing to do is to have them point to one (more general) domain using a 301 direct will there traffic drop significantly? (at least for a short time) Does it matter if they continue to keep the existing domains they are using now on their literature, business cards, etc. and let them continue pointing to the new domain or should they really start promoting the new domain name? (They do NOT want to do this). My only concern is saving them time and money by not having to build links, submit articles, social media, on and on for two different sites OK, that's like 3 questions Thank you VERY much for any thoughts or opinions on the matter! 🙂 Have a great week everybody! C Block Links in Open Explorer
Hi there, Wondering if anyone can help me with understanding the advanced reports in Open Explorer. I'm looking to create a list of competitors links to go after but don't want to create loads of links from the same c blocks for blog posts, articles etc. In open explorer it says my competitor has 451 linking C Blocks but when i download csv's using advanced reports with the filter of 'links that come from the same C block', the csv only has 26 links. The same happened with the filter 'from the same ip address'. How can i download and analyse the links so I can see all the linking C blocks and know which sites I want to use and which ones I want to avoid? Thanks, Ross

Internal linking structure
Hello, Is there a way to see the most anchor text of a sites internal linking structure, that is not mine. For example how many times a competitor used the anchor text "door" on their site. Not external links though, just the internal ones. Thank you, Ada

Competitor with over 100,000 links to duplicate copy ranks well, anyone know why?
One of our competitors has over 100,000 links on Yahoo site explorer, most of them are from pages on their site with duplicate content and they don't seem to have a focus on gaining backlinks, but the site still ranks really well. Can anyone think of a reason why this duplicate content hasn't been penalised by Google?
