DMOZ listing
-
Hello,
My website is not listed in DMOZ. Is DMOZ important? And how to submit website to DMOZ directory?
Thank you!
-
403 Forbidden is coming now for DMOZ.org.
I am not sure if we need to list our website in DMOZ, my company website https://www.sellbuystuffs.com seems to be not listed there, and not sure how to add the listing.

Hi John and others. It's been over a year John, did you get listed yet? As noted above, some categories may not have editors who are active, and some editors reject listings for any reason, accepting only the best, most important, and most relevant ones. Some categories are almost impossible, even if your site is relevant and has quality content.
Were you successful in getting a DMOZ listing for your site?
-
Thank you my friends! I have just added my site to DMOZ directory and I am waiting.
-
That's why I'm probably not getting listed then! Haha
-
It's also worth bearing in mind that if you submit your site to DMOZ some categories no longer have volunteers dealing with applications, so your submission may sit in the queue for the next several years going nowhere. So even if it is important, it's not necessarily achievable
So submit and then instantly forget about it and stop caring.

At this point in the game it's really not going to make much difference at all. It's one link that was at one time, thought to be critical. Now, not so much.

There has been a lot of questions on DMOZ already. Just type "DMOZ" in search bar :p.
Just two examples :
-
Some SEO tools like Woorank consider it a mistake to be not listed in DMOZ.
-
If you look for expired domains at expireddomains.net, you can pick the option "listed in DMOZ" among other options like domain authority, page rank etc.
Important = yes. Essential = no. Don't be mad if you're not accepted.
To submit you site, use the search bar to find the most suitable category then "suggest URL".

Sitemap generator partially finding list of website URLs
Hi everyone, When creating my XML sitemap here it is only able to detect a portion of the website. I am missing at least 20 URLs (blog pages + newly created resource pages). I have checked those missing URLs and all of them are index and they're not blocked by the robots.txt. Any idea why this is happening? I need to make sure all wanted URLs to be generated in an XML sitemap. Thanks!

Google Listing Brand Name as Page Title rather than actual set Title
Any search result including our website is displaying our search result title like this: "Brand Name: Partial Page Title" instead of what it should be "Page Title" (as an example). Where is the "Brand Name:" coming from? We've verified we don't have any code that could cause this, and we're blocking in robots.txt directory listings being used for our search result title/meta. This isn't happening for our competitors. Any ideas on why this is, and if it's something we can control?

What are the negative implications of listing URLs in a sitemap that are then blocked in the robots.txt?
In running a crawl of a client's site I can see several URLs listed in the sitemap that are then blocked in the robots.txt file. Other than perhaps using up crawl budget, are there any other negative implications?

Product listing adverts affect on organic
After reading there will be a drop down arrow on product listing adverts, which will push organic results down to display 16 products: http://searchengineland.com/google-testing-pla-expansion-to-show-16-product-listing-ads-166942?utm_source=twbutton&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=tweet I wondered how badly this is going to affect anyone in organic e-commerce? is this going to be rolled out for every term and have a drop down arrow for each one? Is organic going to die with e-commerce now? Thoughts much appreciated.

How do you determine what google puts as the first couple of listings?
If you look at the attachment I have you'll see images (image sandra_0048 and image long_studio) show up in the tree listing but certain categories don't. For instance Projects - the moustache. Also some sections (Design) show the image file name instead of the img caption for the first image in that gallery: Canadian House & Home magazine. I would love some explanation on why google is doing these things. thanks Luvp

Getting listed in DMOZ after a red mark against me?
Hi everyone, Before I start, I want to point out that I realise DMOZ is not everything. If I can't get a link, then I'll accept it, but I'd like to try damn hard to get a link in there if possible as I honestly believe we are a reputable company that deserves to be in there with other companies in our region. So, lets go back to the start: A few years ago, when I was young and foolish, I posted a request on rentacoder (now vworker) asking for someone to submit us to DMOZ for $xxx. If I remember correctly, we accepted someone for the job and they submitted our site. Since then, we've never been accepted. I tried submitting the site a couple of years ago and realised it still hadn't been submitted around a year ago. I thought this was a bit strange, so I did a bit of digging. I ended up talking to someone who was a DMOZ editor. They looked at my listing on DMOZ and basically said that I'd be rejected for 'bribing an editor' - something that I still maintain I didn't do. Never at any point have I said to someone that I would pay them to guarantee us a listing. At the time, I thought there was a 'certain way' to write a submission, but now that I've grown up a bit, I've realised it's fairly easy to get a listing if you write a well written description and are honest - I've done this for many clients sites which are now accepted. Unfortunately, this does mean that It looks like I won't be able to get our agency on DMOZ, but I just wanted to give one last push and see if anyone on SEOMoz knows of any one I could speak to in order to lift this ban? I realise now that it was probably a stupid thing to do, and in hindsight, I should have just waited like everyone else. I hold my hands up to that and I've worked over the last few years to grow our agency into something special for our clients. As I say, I realise dmoz isn't everything, but it is a directory that still holds value and I would like to be linked off there if possible. Any tips on how I may be able to beg for my ban to be lifted would be much appreciated. Kind regards, Lewis PS: I applied to become an editor at one point, this was when I realised something wasn't right - http://www.resource-zone.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=52658

Getting Listed on Google Satellite Maps
How does a website get listed in the satellite version of Google Maps? I have clients that are ranking number 1 in the pack 7 with Google Places and local SEO but they don't show up on the big map. Click on this link to see what I mean http://connect7.biz/google-maps.jpg I have circled the listings in red. How are these businesses getting listed in the satellite version of Google Maps? Thanks

What do I do about multiple listings for doctors on InfoUSA?
I'm doing local SEO for a chiropractic clinic that has four chiropractors. On InfoUSA and therefor on CitySearch, Insiderpages, Healthgrades, etc, there are individual listings for each chiropractor with the clinic's name, address and phone number. Google places pulls reviews from those other sites and I don't think they will make the connection on the listings. The tricky thing is that health-care review sites such as healthgrades.com have reviews for doctors and not for clinics necessarily. What's the best way to organize this? Should I get all of these listings consolidated into one listing for the clinic in general that has the same info as the Google Places listing? Should I get the individual chiropractor listings deleted?
