Exact Domain Match URL
-
Hello
I have a few competitors ranking VERY well for exact keyword match URL. They have a single hosted page, when a customer clicks to buy inventory ir re-directs to there main url. Will google eventually catch on to this? Excellent position, very little backlink/seo work. Is this something that I should also look into for my own site?
Thank you!

All of my important sites are on keyword.com domains.
They give you a very small ranking advantage. And, in early 2011, I believe that google reduced the small advantage that they have. Google could do that again at any time and this strategy turns to crap. I use keyword.com domains because I think that they convert well.
The ranking advantage is very small. When you are in very easy SERPs that domain, a couple of links and some smart on-page optimization will get you a good ranking.
However, when the competition gets tough you are in a battle of resources and smarts and that domain isn't going to be nearly as helpful.
I use these domains and get my ass kicked frequently.
If I was playing for easy SERPs where these domains alone could win position I would not use them. If the SERPs are that easy I would just put a highly optimized page on my site and kick their asses.

Redirect from a previous url
Hi - newbie question I have a customer who's had previous versions of his website. Previously it was known as "princess-interiors.co.uk" (been around for a few years) and is now "princess-design.co.uk" (been around also for a few years). New site is WordPress - what would be the best way to redirect (I have access to the previous version of the site which is still hosted). I expect it's to use 301, but how would I do that (step by step), and does www. versus non-www need addressing (and how). Really concerned, as this site has gone to zero organic visits!! Hoping somebody can help. Thanks

Disavow domain ignored
Hi We did a domain disavow some months ago and webmaster tools told us those links were not pointing at us anymore. But suddenly the same domain has appeared again in our external links list according to webmaster tools. Our disavow document still contains that same domain as a disavowed domain, so we don't understand why is still being taken into account. Thanks

Buying keyword urls for local traffic
Hi, I've been told that there is a real benefit in buying up local domain names and setting up mini adverts to your core website... is this actually true? Seems a strange practice. Example: If I had a car cleaning site called 'MozCarCleaning.co.uk' and the company was based in London. Then I'd buy related domains, 'LondonCarCleaning.co.uk' , 'CarValetLondon.co.uk' and make mini websites which then link to the main site. Alternatively, would it be worth just 301 redirecting directly to the core site? Thanks.

Domain Authority and nofollow links?
Hello, I'm wondering, are 'nofollow' links from websites with high domain authority beneficial? Would they boost our own DA? In essence, I'm wondering if there is added value (other than visitors clicking the link) to being linked to by a 'nofollow' link. Thanks!
