Which links are most powerful
-
If I am analyzing a competitor website, how can I see which websites are the most powerful to get links from? I am using Opensite Explorer.
-
Getting the right links is a complicated answer, but I will try to help with a list style format. Here are the questions you should ask yourself:
1. Does the site I want links from fit within my audience? If someone sees my link on a site, is it relevant to where they will be compelled to click on it?
2. Does the linking domain have a high pagerank, page authority and domain authority?
3. If I get a link from the domain, is the link a "followed" or "no-follow" link?
4. Even if the factors listed above are high, do I want this site linking to me?
5. Do other sites like mine link from this site? Is it releavnt to my industry or service? Is it local in nature or nationwide?
6. Is it a paid linking platform? Sites that you can get links from for $5-70 are generally not good places to get links from. Google has become very harsh on paid links. Even if it looks tempting becaise you see a competitor doing it, try to think of the long term health of your site.
7. Look at where your link will be placed. If it just gets dropped on a directory page full of competition and links, I doubt you will get any value from that. Not only from a user perspective since they will not be able to find your link amongst the clutter, but also from an SEO perspective.Hope this helps!

Hi Igor!
While there are many different attributes that can make a link valuable to your specific site, a very over-arching method for checking link quality would be to sort by Domain Authority. This will give you the most authoritative sites that link to your competitors. Please keep in mind that it does take some investigation to sort through this list to find high quality opportunities.
For example, a competitor may have a link from a Wordpress blog that shows a 100 for the Domain Authority number. In reality, that blog may have very low Page Authority, may actually have low authority and low readership.
I'm a fan of Eric Ward's golden rule. Review link opportunities and if they provide your site with an opportunity to earn some quality referral traffic as a result, then they are likely "good" links to pursue. If not, it may be better to pass.
Diversifying your traffic sources through quality links is much more valuable long-term than simply pursuing links to obtain better search rankings.
Let me know if that makes sense and I'll do my best to help and/or elaborate!

(301 Redirect) Link Spam Score: 10/17
Hi everyone, I'm looking for a specific answer, so I'll give some specifics to help get some information. https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/links?site=http%3A%2F%2Fgpstrackit.com%2F&filter=&source=external&target=page&group=0&page=1&sort=page_authority&anchor_id=&anchor_type=&anchor_text=&from_site= After looking through Open Site Explorer we've noticed one of the links from login.gpstrackit.net has a 10/17 spam score. https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/spam-analysis/flags?subdomain=login.gpstrackit.net This link is a 301 redirect from a previous login URL, so users can be redirected to our current site and login from there. I don't know how to approach this situation or what the correct fix is. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Backlinks not showing on Open Site Explorer's Just-Discovered Links
Hi guys! My name is Edgar. I've recently been adding a bunch of backlinks to the site i work for, and most of them have a very high DA (DA > 80. Wohoo!). Nevertheless i'm often feel a bit frustrated when i check my site with the OSE, because just a few part of these links are showed in the just-discovered section, although i created them few days ago. So, i would like to know why is this happening, how long it take for my links to get crawled, and when can i stop getting frustrated on this? Than you very much! Edgar.

Why is Open Site Explorer Showing me Spammy Links That I Already Removed?
Every two months or so, I like to download the OSE list of all the backlinks passing equity to my site. I do this so I can see which spammy links I need to try and remove. However, I see that OSE is still showing me links that I already removed...Either A) the page that is being linked to is 404-ed B) the spammy website that was linking doesn't exist anymore or C) the spammy site still exists, but the link is GONE. Why is OSE still spidering these sites and links? Does that mean Google is still spidering these links? Should I disavow them to be safe? Thank you! P.S We are not experiencing any drastic drops in traffic or penalties at the moment.

OSE not picking up all internal links?
Hi! I've been checking a few pages in OSE. For example: https://www.holidayhypermarket.co.uk/holidays/last-minute This, according to the tool, has only 6 internal links. However, a Screaming Frog crawl picks up 700+, which is about right seeing as there is a link in the footer. What do you think could be behind the discrepancy?

Open Site Explorer Recently Discovered Links Question
Hey Mozzers, I have a question regarding the Open Site Explorer Recently Discovered Links. I know that I have receive follow link from a few sites that have more DA than my site. I am wondering why it is taking so long for OSE to discover these links? I double checked the sites to make sure that they don't have NOFOLLOW (sorry for the double negative), and the sites have linked to my site for over a month now. Any ideas? I'm not concerned about it because Search Engines have discovered those links. I am just curious why this is, or if it is normal. Cheers!

Why Moz doesn't offer tool similar like SEOprofiler Link Disinfection?
Hi Moz, As I have been your member & using pro tool for more than an year, it's been amazing experience working and using your each tool's function tool, wehther to check on-page grader, rank tracking, on-page crawling issue, keyword difficulty and the one my best for link analysis is Open Site Explorer etc. I came here to ask about something which I didn't find here than other providers is most popular Bad Link Detection Tool. As **SEOprofiler Link Disinfection **offers their customers to use this to get all of their bad or spammy links harming them to rank high or getting away from ranking goal. Let me know, are you planning anything similar to this to bring soon in your tools and provide your members to take benefits of such type function as well OR should i go to SEOprofiler for this? Best,
