On-page optimization
-
I have a list of the top 350 keywords sending volume to my site, sorted by volume. I am using your On-Page Optimization tool to look at the top 10 keywords and the grade for each of the relevant pages on the website. So for "hard wood flooring," I am searching for that term on Google and finding the first listing for my site lumberliquidators.com that comess up. Then I paste that page link into the On-Page Optimizer. Is this the best way to do this to determine performance for the most relevant page? Moz gave this keyword an F (home page) even though LL came up #2 in the organic Google rankings.

On-Page looks at more than where you're ranking for a keyword. This tool is telling you how well optimized your keyword is for the URL your ranking for. You can read more about it all here in this handy article from our Help Hub!
- Who long does it take a campaign to run before all the final data is there? I have ran 3 different campaigns here because I made some changes int he keywords used. Is the last one, "LL SEO 3 - Lorry Terms" complete?
When you initially set up a campaign you'll see GA data (if you have a profile linked), Keyword Rankings (as long as the were added during campaign set up), and your competitive metrics within a few hours. All of your other data should populate within 7 days.
After that, your campaign will update every seven days. So for example, your LL SEO 3 campaign was created on August 21st. That means that your next update will occur on August 28th, and show your data from August 21st-August 27th. Your campaign should also update on the same day every week.
- It says there is a crawl error for Duplicate Content - 42,983 pages on www.lumberliquidators.com have duplicate content - is this possible?
Yes, it's possible. It really just depends on how you have your site set up. Campaigns have a 90% tolerance for duplicate content. This includes all the source code on the page and not just the viewable text. So if a URL is at least 90% similar in code to another URL, this warning will appear.
You can run your own tests using this tool: http://www.webconfs.com/similar-page-checker.php
We don't know what standard Google uses, but it's safe to say they are a bit more sophisticated than us - so you might be okay in this regard as long as you have a couple hundred words of unique text per page. Google won't say how much duplicate content is too much, so we like to be better safe than sorry.
- I noticed that when I search for www.lumberrliquidators.com on Google it seems to "redirects" to http://www.lumberliquidators.com/ll/home. Could this be impacting numbers in some way?
As long as you have your 301 set up correctly, this should be fine.
I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to email us at help@moz.com!
Cheers,
Erin

The on-page optimizer will only help you understand how well a page is targeting a specific term, not necessarily the reasons why that specific page is ranking in the SERPs.
First, make sure to be searching Google anonymously - i.e. don't allow your personal preferences (which impact the SERPs) to get in your way. If you want to understand where the site ranks, you'll need to remove the personal adjustments Google makes for your search behavior.
Then, the on-page optimizer is an OK place to start. In your example, the page isn't necessarily targeting the term searched, but still ranking highly - why?
- The keyword is highly relevant to the content on their site
- The site's internal link structure could be targeting that term and making the specific page an authority on the topic
- The page's external links could be targeting that page for the term
A lot of the time a page as broad as your home page will receive lower scores for many terms, since you're not targeting many of them (i.e. they are not in your Page Title, Meta Description, used sparingly in on-page content) directly, but rank highly for a large amount of diverse terms since it is an authority on related topics.
Use your list to determine which keywords are most important to the page you're optimizing, then use the page grader tool to improve the targeting of terms for specific pages.

There was a problem loading this page. Please make sure the page is loading properly and that our user-agent, rogerbot, is not blocked from accessing this page.

Why is Moz Crawling More Pages Than My Site Actually Has?
Hi I have a site that only has 5k pages but Moz has crawled 50K pages on the site when I initiated the site crawl. I don't exactly know why Moz is reporting me back so many pages but I was wondering why this is and if any of you out in the Moz community know anything about this. Thanks

Duplicate page found with MOZ crawl test?
When I crawl my website www.radiantguard.com, the crawl test comes back with what appears to be a duplicate of my home page: http://www.radiantguard.com and http://www.radiantguard.com/ Does the crawler indeed see two different pages and therefore, are my search engine rankings potentially affected, AND is this because of how my rel canonical is set up?

Comparing Competitor On-Page Grades?
When I run an advanced SERP report or even the basic keyword difficultly report it gives me competitor On-page grades. I can look directly at their code, but I'm wondering if there is a way to easily see and export a .csv or excel file of the on-page ranking factors for the top 1-10 results comparing them to a page on my site? Seems like that would be really helpful and much quicker than looking at source code to understand what on-page factors are contributing to their success. Is there any way to do this in Moz or a free tool elsewhere you would suggest?

The Moz Spam Score tells me my site has too few backlinks for such a large site. How many links per page would I need to not trigger this filter and stop appearing spammy?
Hello! One of my sites is triggering the 'too few backlinks for large site' filter. I am wondering how many backlinks I need so as not to trigger this. Many thanks for your help. Toby

Duplicate page content
The MOZ crawler identifies pages as duplicate content which are not the same.

The pages http://www.aignerart.com/abstracts-oil-painting/cicli-colora.html and http://www.aignerart.com/abstracts-oil-painting/murs-de-la-ville.html are marked duplicate but they are different paintings. Any ideas?0 -
Why my on-page report card won't improve?
For my page www.homedestination.com/Minneapolis-homes-for-sale.html, Moz ranks the page as an "F" for the keyword "Minneapolis home buyers". All data in the report card is from months ago. using the "Grade my On-Page Optimization" button fails to show any updates - even after months. For example the title is actually "Minneapolis Homes For Sale| buying a Minneapolis home | Homebuyers" while Moz says it is ""Minneapolis Homes For Sale | Home Destination | Jenna Thuening" Moz says the description tag is "Realtor Jenna Theuning helping real estate buyers find Minnetonka homes for sale, owner of Home Destination. CDPE also helps with foreclosure and short sales buying." and "Minneapolis homes for sale, and Minneapolis listing, and Minneapolis upscale real estate, and Minneapolis lakeside properties provided by Home Destination"" when it is actually "Minneapolis homes for sale, and Minneapolis listing, Minneapolis home buyers, and Minneapolis lakeside properties provided by Home Destination." Additionally, my weekly ranking reports seems "stuck" and continues to show many "F" ranked keywords that have been updated for some time. Amy advice on how to see improvements?

Duplicate content - Which is the other duplicate page?
Hi I just ran a campaign, and I got a duplicate content warning for some of my pages. When I go into the diagnostic report, I am unable to find the page detected by google as 'duplicate' to the main page. Unless I know which 2 pages are being detected as duplicate, it'll be really difficult to actually solve the problem. Would be great to have any kind of help here. Thanks in advance!
