Should we get our W3 Validation Errors Fixed for SEO. How important is it ?
-
Hi All,
We implement most things on our Website that is recommended and most recently we did Schema.org. However, one area which we haven't done is fix our W3 Validation Errors.
My developer thinks they are not so as such and it's more about ticking the boxes but does anymore have any experience whereby fixing all these did actually have an SEO /Ranking Benefit ?..
Most of our URL'S are indexed and google recrawls regularly so I am not sure as to it's importance.
Also we have a mobile responsive version so I wasn't sure if it more important because of this.
From what I read, I can't see to any benefit from fixing it all but just wanted some other opinions?
thanks
Pete

Matt Cutts has said a number of times that invalid HTML in and of itself does not cause a penalty. Here's one example: http://youtu.be/j3KgrbiB1pc
"So Google does not penalize you if you have invalid HTML because there would be a huge number of webpages like that and some people know the rules and then decided to make things a little bit faster or to tweak things here there and so their pages don't validate and there are enough pages they don't validate that we said OK this would actually hurt search quality if we said only the pages that validate are allowed to rank or rank those a little bit higher."
Yes, you should write good HTML. But, unless it is so bad that it causes a bad user experience, simply having some W3C errors is not going to be a problem for SEO. (At least for now...)

SSL Cert error
Just just implemented SSL with a wild card cert and I got an email from google that my non-www cert is not valid. Any ideas ? SSL/TLS certificate does not include domain name https://electrictime.com/ To: Webmaster of https://electrictime.com/, Google has detected that the current SSL/TLS certificate used on <a>https://electrictime.com/</a> does not include <a>https://electrictime.com/</a> domain name. This means that your website is not perceived as secure by some browsers. As a result, many web browsers will block users accessing your site by displaying a security warning message. This is done to protect users’ browsing behavior from being intercepted by a third party, which can happen on sites that are not secure.

Has this site been a victim of negative seo?
The rankings for our client's site - www.yourlifeprotected.co.uk fell off the face of the earth back in June. Despite trying a huge number of things to try and help the site recover, we've seen no real positive improvements since then. Examples of things we have tried: Disavowed & manually removed poor quality Links Removed any internal Duplicate Content Removed any broken links Re-written all website content to ensure unique & high quality No-Followed all outbound links Added any missing title tags changed hosting Rewritten content to ensure no duplication internally or externally The most recent issue we've picked up is that some highly spammy sites seem to have copied extracts of text from the website and hidden them in their pages. This is a rather puzzling one, as there aren't backlinks, pointing to our site - just the copy. For example - Cancer Page and Diabetes Page.It feels very much as though this could be a negative SEO attack which could be responsible for the drop in rankings and traffic the site has experienced. If this is the case, what can we do about it?! Having already re-written the copy on the site, we obviously dont want to do this again unnecessarily - especially if this could just happen again in future! Any help or advice would be hugely appreciated.

SEO and Internal Pages
Howdy Moz Fans (quoting Rand), I have a weird issue. I have a site dedicated to criminal defense. When you Google some crimes, the homepage comes up INSTEAD of the internal page directly related to that type of crime. However, on other crimes, the more relevant internal page appears. Obviously, I want the internal page to appear when a particular crime is Googled and NOT the homepage. Does anyone have an explanation why this happens? FYI: I recently moved to WP and used a site map plugin that values the internal pages at 60% (instead of Weebly, which has an auto site map that didn't do that). Could that be it? I have repeatedly submitted the internal pages via GWT, but nothing happens. Thanks.

Order of importance
Hi, From the screenshot below I have signed up to "Plan 1". I am not happy with the company and think I can do this better myself using SEOMoz. My questions are. Ignoring the one off tasks listed. Which of the Monthly tasks is the most important, which is the second most important etc? Is there any that can be ignored or are any now detrimental to SEO? Is there anything that is not on the list that maybe there should be? In summary I am trying to workout how hard and how much time and effort it will take to go it alone using SEOMoz for guidance? Inline images 1 In case the screenshot doesn't show, below is the Monthly tasks I get on my Plan. 5 x Themed Link Building (min PR2) 10 x Directory Submissions 4 x Blogs 250 words Content Copywriting 1 x Article syndicated 50 times Thanks Andrew

SEO Provider
At the risk of opening the flood gates, I'm posting this in hopes of finding a SEO provider on this site. I'm currently a member, and have learned a lot through this site, but I'm still having issues ranking higher. Because of this, I have come to the conclusion that I need a dedicated SEO company/professional who can help our company reach the next level. I'm open to suggestions of companies that you have used, or please feel free to throw your hat into the ring. Thanks in advance! AW

SEO and Pictures tool
Hello, I need to share pictures albums. I would like to know if any of you have an opinion on the best tools available to share pictures on the web? When I say 'the best tool' I mean from an SEO perspective. So, based on your experience, is there tools with which I have better chances to get my pictures indexed? Thanks !! Note: CNET has created a great article that present the major players

Local SEO for franchises
I have a client who franchises an ice cream shop. It started in Utah and there are several stores there. They are ranking well for local searches based in Utah. Now they have opened a store in Federal Way, WA. How can I get the new location to rank for local keywords on the same website?
