Citations, How exact should be the citation (Same formating, etc)
-
Hi there,
Thanks for all the support you have been giving to me in the past few posts.
I wanted to know how exact should be the citations compared to my address. Here is the scenario. A business has a website, google my business and citations.
The address on there website is cited as this:
1, One street West, Local 202, Toronto, Ontario 555 555-5555
The address on google my business is cited as this:
1 One Street W #202, Toronto, ON (555) 555-5555
The address on the citations is a mix of both.
So here is my questions, since it is the same address how important it is to keep the exact same format everywhere? Would you make the change on the website and citations as a priority?
Bonus questions: is it possible to put West instead of W in google maps? And does the format of the phone number also counts

Thank you very much. It's clearer now.
Very much appreciated!

Ah! Thank you so much for the clarification on this. I've never seen a guideline from Google regarding having bilingual language within one address on a listing, so my best thought on this is that you need to go with the version of your address as it appears in Google Maps, whether that's suite, # or local. Then I would conform your other listings to this on other platforms. However, don't worry about the difference between W and West. Google is perfectly able to understand those as meaning the same thing.
Hope this helps!

Hi Miriam,
Thank you for your response. It is a word in french, it means "Suite" or "Office".

Hi H.M.N.!
We're so happy to have you here. Now, you'll have to educate me here on the Canadian meaning of "Local" in your address:
One street West, Local 202, Toronto, Ontario 555 555-5555
I'm not familiar with this as an address component. What does it mean, please?

Citation, Google Plus and SEO questions
Hi, I have a website www.gemslearninginstitute.com. We offer different after school programs for kids located in Canada. I have a very basic knowledge of SEO. I have a few questions. Just wondering if someone can please help me. We offer UCMAS Mental Math Program, Tutoring and Chess School/Coaching and runs a Chess Club. I would like to boost my google ranking and get more local traffic. 1- My citation is not consistent. Which program should I use to correct the citation and delete duplicate or inconsistent listing automatically. 2 - Should I do the citation with my company name only “GEMS Learning Institute” or Should I do like this “GEMS learning Institute – UCMAS-Tutoring-Chess”. Which one is better? 3- Right now I have two different google plus business pages. One with the name of “GEMS Learning Institute” and the second one is UCMAS. Should I have only one page as GEMS and delete the UCMAS. 4- I am not sure how to check if my site is penalized by google. 5- How can I measure things which are working on not? Can you please recommend next steps should I take after doing citation to improve the ranking? Thanks in advance and appreciate help.

Exact Match Anchor Text - How Can These Guys Be Getting Away With It?
Hi. I've noticed that some of my search competitors seem to be getting away with heavy use of exact match anchor text in their backlinks. In the UK, for the term [HR Software] the top 3 SERPs have on average: 63% of their backlinking domains using the exact match anchor text [HR Software] 50% of their backlinking pages use the exact match anchor text [HR Software] I know there are hundreds of factors at play other than just the above but to me their anchor text profiles scream "LINK SPAM". Is this normal? Have I missed something? or do I just bide my time and wait for them to be hit with a penalty? Thanks David

Why is ooshirts.com not being penalized for exact match keywords?
Clearly this site is buying links. They have the most exact match link profile I have ever seen. It appears their strategy has been to buy links for their domain as a way to mask all the other exact match purchases they are making. I have also been sent copies of the emails where they are attempting to purchase links. Thoughts?

Exact match anchor text is negative signal?
Hi all, I am wondering if the exact match anchor text is 100% negative signal after the penguin. I mean even from relevant sites and natural use. During the last 2 weeks I see negative SERP changes and I start to think that it is because exact match keyword anchor text is used. I also use some other anchor texts along with it all the time.. but now I think of using 100% exact match anchor free links. Does anybody have similar observations? Thank you in advance.

How to Beat Exact Match Domains

I've got a stronger link profile than the 7 results ranking above me, but cant seem to get anywhere in the SERP. I'm thinking: links with keyword anchor text aggressive on page optimisation more links Any ideas/experiences you've had would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance James
