MOZ identifies duplicate titles - one has' www' in the title

MOZ has identified duplicate titles - one has' www' in the title. - we have a few pieces of content where the same thing is happening. Not sure how this has happened. Should we do something about this? Will it cause problems for ranking?

It's sort of a legacy quirk of the internet, how HTTP works and files are accessed on the internet I suppose. Basically "computers" do make a distinction between different file paths, even if they ultimately point to the same resource.
You need to choose a canonical version i.e a main version and then redirect the others to that.
Either choose which version you prefer www or non www, or quickly see which one has more backlinks and then go with that one.
I can see you're on Joomla, so this guide should help: https://joomlaseo.com/checklist/choose-www-or-non-www
With regards to why you need HTTPs, the biggest justification is that Google now treats it as a ranking factor and a quality signal: https://webmasters.googleblog.com/2014/08/https-as-ranking-signal.html
Technically your checkout is secure as you said but as per the above, it's still advisable your traffic is encrypted.
Hope this helps,
Nick

Thanks for the response Nick. Why does a website end up with identical content like this? What should we do about it?
We process orders through Shopify. Do we need an SSL certificate?

Hi Ian,
I'm afraid right now you've got a bigger problem than the actual issue of the meta title.
You currently have duplication due to there being no sitewide redirect between www and non-www.
Whilst technically identical content, on a technical level these are in fact two different version:

http://www.substance.org.uk/harm-reduction-information/ketamine-guide-for-drug-workers-free
It's also highly advisable that you set up a SSL certificate so you can have a secure HTTPS domain. Especially as it looks like you are a shop.
Best regards,
Nick

Duplicate content on events site
I have an event website and for every day the event occurs the event has a page. For example: The Oktoberfest in Germany the event takes 16 days. My site would have 16 (almost)identical pages about the Oktoberfest(same text, adres, photos, contact info). The only difference between the pages is the date mentioned on the page. I use rich snippets. How does google treat my pages and what is the best practice.

More long tails for longer title
Hello, Will a longer, two big phrase title gather more long tails overall than a title with one short keyword? Example: Would this: Title: Nike Running Shoes, Adidas Tennis Shoes create more long tails overall than this title: Title: Running Shoes or is more dependent on other things, like content? It seems like you'd be more likely to hit more phrases strongly with a long title. If that's true doesn't it make sense to always use a longer title when possible? Thanks.

Duplicate content from category pages?
I have an ecommerce store with different categories for my products. Some products do appear in more than one category, is that an issue even if you end up on the same product page/link? Also, I have a "show all products" category, which I believe creates duplicate content too? What is your take on this? What can I do to solve this? Is it even an issue of duplicate content? All answers are very much appreciated!

2 Duplicate pages. One Showing "/"
In SEOMoz report I have 2 pages showing that are identical in name/URL apart from the fact that one ends with the / symbol and one doesnt'. They are both showing as having too many on-page links. But one shows 106 links and the other shows 106. In clients' admin section I can only find evidence of the page without the /. I wonder if anyone could advise how best to move forward? Colin

Page title in SERP question
Has anyone typed in a phrase in Google and seen their listing on the SERP, but the page title on the Google SERP is not what the CMS is set to ? Ie the page title in the SERP is not what is expected? Something related to the company, but not what is set on the CMS… Very odd – has anyone seen something like this before? What could be causing it? Is there a way to change it?
