Title tag showing in Google that we are not setting
-
Hello,
We've noticed that when we do a specific search (print screen attached), that the business name and/or a completely different title is getting indexed into the search engine that we are not setting.
Below is an example from the source code of how we're setting the title, this matches the 2nd listing circled in the attached image. The indexed title tag reflects "Animal Business Card Holders - Kyle Design"
Any ideas or feedback on how this is happening?
<title>Animal Business Card Cases in Pet, Insect and Wildlife Designstitle> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> <meta name="description" content="Eye-catching business card holder cases personalized with custom animal designs for humane professionals and pet owners. As Barry's blog post title says, you're not alone with Google not always listening to your title tag. He has a post about it on Search Engine Roundtable at http://www.seroundtable.com/google-title-selection-12989.html. In short, it's Google, it's not you.

We actually have an area that would add the company name, but it was removed over a year ago. We are certain that are system is not appending it to the end of the title tag.
-
could it be in code.
I used to append my city on the end of titles if they were short enouth. Are you sure no one has coded this? -
That's and interesting issue. If you do a site search that page has the title you specify in your title tag (see screen shot). You do have the phrase "Animal Business Card Holders" on your page. Google will create their own title tags for your page if you don't have one (you do), or if they think the title isn't appropriate for the page. Duplicate pages will sometimes create a situation where Google creates their own title.
The addition of Kyle Designs to the title is interesting. I have no idea on that one, but I am looking forward to other responses on it.

The pages have not been updated in quit some time, we are talking over a year that the company name was in the title. When you do the search for, monkey business card holder kyle, in Google. There are several results that display for the site, the question is for the ones that are appending - Kyle Design
One of the indexed pages results is showing:
Animal Business Card Holders - Kyle Design
"Long Little Dog" Dachshund Case for Business and Credit Cards. $24.95 ... kyledesigns.com>OFFICE>Business_Card_HoldersWe have set the title to:(the source code can be seen in initial post)
Animal Business Card Cases in Pet, Insect and Wildlife Design
Just unsure why our title is being over-ridden since we are setting it. We noticed with several indexed pages, and are just trying to eliminate this issue to ensure the title we want is what is appearing in the Google SERPs -
If you just recently updated the page title, it might take a little while for it to update in the search results - could this possibly be the case?
-
Not sure I see the problem, sorry.
has the title "Unique Monkey Business Card Holders" - is that the one you are concerned about?

Google image search
How does google decide which image show up in the image search section ? Is is based on the alt tag of the image or is google able to detect what is image is about using neural nets ? If it is using neural nets are the images you put on your website taken into account to rank a page ? Let's say I do walking tours in Italy and put a picture of the leaning tower of pisa as a top image while I be penalised because even though the picture is in italy, you don't see anyone walking ? Thank you,

Long Title Tags
Hi guys, We have product e-commerce title tags which are over 60 characters - around 80 plus. The reason we added them in there is to incorporate

more information for Google. The format of these title tags are: Name + Colour + Rug Type + Origin Name = for people searching for the name of the rug
Color = people searching for a specific color
Type = The type of rug (e.g. normal or designer)
Origin = Where the rug is for. So this title will cover people searching for: People searching for designer rugs, the specific colour and also where it comes from. This then results in the title tag going way over 60 characters - around 80-90 characters. -- Would it be wise to try and shrink it down to under 60 characters, and what would be a good approach to do this? Hi, "Null" is appearing as top keyword in Google search console > Google Index > Content Keywords for our site http://goo.gl/cKaQ4K . We do not use "null" as keyword on site. Google +1 and Yslow
After adding Google's +1 script and call to our site (loading asynchronously), we noticed Yslow is giving us a D for not having expire headers for the following scripts: https://apis.google.com/js/plusone.js

Hierachy in a Title Tag Needed?
When coding the title tags of a website, is it important to note the hierarchy of the website so the search engine can find that page? So, for example, the title tag would be, for a subcategory: Webpage Subcategory>Category>Website name Does this help the search engine rankings at all? Or can the search engines figure out the hierarchy by reading a sitemap or the HTML readable navigation? Then you could focus on the descriptive keywords of the subcategory page for the title tag. Also, should you always include the site name in the title tag?

Alexa site title shows as "302 Found" on search result pages
If you search for the site "ixl.com" in Alexa, for some reason, it's showing the site as "302 Found" instead of showing the website name, IXL. If you drill into that, it shows the site as ixl.com, but underneath that, it says "302 Found" again. Every other site I search for seems to show the site's name properly. I have no idea where it's getting this "302 Found" from. Does anyone know how to fix this? Here's a link directly to the search results page: http://www.alexa.com/search?q=ixl.com

What is the downside with having too long of a title tag?
With Google placing so much relevance on title tags, it seems to help if you mention local cities within your title tag. I'm wondering if the positive of having more keywords in a title tag outweighs the negative of having too long of one?

How Many Results Does Google Show From The Same Domain?
Hi, From a few years ago I know 'double listings' were considered prime real estate. These days I can see triple listing, google places, PDFs all from the same domain. Im confused as the what the standard is now. I have been asked for some reverse SEOing to push down some bad press (keyword is the brand name) and am curious to know whether I still can get some high results by making a sub domain, optmising some more internal pages etc. Thanks.
