On-Site Optimization and Repeat Customers
-
Hello,
One of my clients has repeat customers. All of his surface level categories are optimized.
None of his 2nd or 3rd level categories are optimized at all.
Is there any harm in optimizing these 2nd or 3rd level categories. Is there any way it could cause a problem with repeat customers?
I didn't think so but I want to make sure.
Thanks!

Thanks Erica!

I would start with your client's most valuable pages and make sure those are optimized. Then I would work on the other categories/product pages that your client's long-term vision for the company is reflected in. For example, when I sold outdoor clothing, the company was expanding into outerwear long-term, so I made sure to optimize my outerwear categories and product pages, especially to get into keywords that we weren't known for or even ranking for.

Yes, I know not to reoptimize pages already optimized, but this is a successful site and I want to be careful even if I just add to the optimization.
We have too many products to optimize all levels, just category pages, but I would love to hear why/how to optimize individual products

What type of problems are you concerned with? How would repeat customers be affected by your optimization, in comparison to new customers? Sorry for the questions but just trying to better understand your questions and concerns.
Like Cisaz said I like to optimize all levels. Cisaz advice is right on point. I would just add to use these 2nd & 3rd level categories to target longer tail keywords.

That is a very good questions.
In my opinion, we i like to optimize all levels, but just being sure I don't repeat, or replicate any meta information.
All just needs to be relevant. To keep the page content quality score.

Keyword ranking for different page than the page optimized
I have optimized "equipment trailer for rent" on this page: http://www.bigtrailerrentals.com/flatbed-trailer-rentals/equipment-deckover. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me why Google has chosen to rank the keyword phrase for this page: http://www.bigtrailerrentals.com/flatbed-trailer-rentals/equipment-24 This is just one example. It has happened on several of my pages / keywords.

Creating a .cn site with the existing site content
Hi all, I'm planning to create a .cn site. If I simply translate the existing content on my site (.com.au) into Chinese, do you think Google will see the .cn site as a duplicate of the main site? Will this cause any duplicate content issues? Thanks

Any scripts for automated interlinking of sites?
I have heard about similar plugins for Wordpress, but I need something like this to run on all kind of sites, no matter the CSM. Are there universal scripts capable of doing automatic interlinking of pages to rise their weight for SEO purposes? Could you share links to such scripts/sites?

Does my site just need a tweak, or should it be rebuilt from the ground up?
My wedding photography website has grown organically over the last 4 years or so.

Each year it's been fiddled with, changed, tweaked, prodded - in short it's been mucked about with a lot.
To the point now where I think it's become a hodge potch of mucky code (theme installed on theme in stalled on theme and numerous plugins) and no real 'structure' to it. At the moment it hovers around #12 for my main area of focus - people looking for a wedding photographer in Essex, England. So 'wedding photographer Essex'. I try to write blog posts regarding venues in Essex where I've photographed weddings. Despite trying to follow best practice, and with weak/low competition, these posts very rarely crack top 10. Last year when I was top 2 for wedding photographer Essex I was victim of a spam link attack. At the time I asked for advice and was told not to worry as Google didn't count these links. Now I'm feeling that along with the bloated website, lack of proper site architecture and other little issues, these links are contributing to restricting my pages from ranking in top 10 spots. Backlinking, while always helpful, doesn't seem to play a major role when trying to rank for venue related searches according to backlink reports on competitors. I'm thinking that it might be an idea to rebuild the site and content from the ground up. This time with a proper site structure in place and conforming to best practice. Obviously this is probably the most extreme course of action. Or does my site just need a little TLC to get it ranking better?
The site in question is:

Integrate a blog within an existing site
Hello everyone! I work on a website of a very small company and so far no one has ever implemented (not even thought about) a proper content strategy. The only content on the site are products description. Through Analytics I discovered lots of opportunities and topics to be covered which would massively increase the traffic, increase the engagement and (hopefully) sales. Problem is that I don't really know how to integrate a blog into the existing site; my first thought was wordpress What is the best way to do it?

Different names for Twitter/Facebook, and site?
Greetings, I want to optimize my site, www.atstrust.com. I know that posts to Facebook and Twitter help improve ranks. Does it matter though if my twitter/facebook sites have a different name than the domain I am optimizing? For example, my Facebook site is facebook.com/easyinspection. I assume that doesn't matter as long as the URLs on the site refer to my domain? Thanks! Eric
