What Is The Preferred Url Structure For Se’s?
-
Here is my issue, my domain is abcdomian.com and I’m trying to rank the site for the keyword “example”. All of my content is under “abcdomain.com/folder/example/” and building content off of “abcdomain.com/example” is not an option. So I’m thinking about moving the content to “abcdomain.com/online-example/” and 301ing the old pages . Of the two paths below, which will have a greater impact on my rankings for the term “example”?
Current: abcdomain.com/folder/example/
Proposed: abcdomain.com/online-example/Thoughts?

You question is a double edged sword and cuts both ways. There are both Pros and Cons to both the old and new URL structures. Hopefully my explanation helps.
The old structure allows you the chance to keyword focus the page more. For example lets say your keyword is tacos and you are wanting to rule the taco market. The old URL path allows you multiple pages with focused keywords to different long tail keywords. For example you could do tacoking.com/mexico/tacos and tacoking.com/peru/tacos and that type of structure would allow you to pass link juice from the sub page(tacos) to the category page(peru or mexico) and so one. The down side is you could effect the user experience with too many pages and cause a higher bounce rate. Also it sounds like the current platform you use isn't very flexible and might not let you make multiple "folders." If you do use this make sure to plan it out and make it a nice user experience.
On the other hand the new structure makes your website easier to maintain without a bunch of categories and sub-categories causing a vast improvement in the useability of your site. It makes it a lot easier to make multiple pages with custom URLs without researching the category it needs to fit under. It does cause you to keyword stuff your URL alot more than you currently have to.
I hope this gives you some perspective of the different options you have. It sounds like the system you are currently using is really constricted and it isn't allowing you to have the proper freedom to SEO you content how you see fit. There are a ton of open source platforms that you can build a site off of that allows you to do both styles of URLs.Keep in mind that 301 redirects don't pass 100% link juice to the new page it is pointing to and you still have to SEO the new URL you are focusing on. I hope that helps!

Best way to set up URL structure for reviews off of PDP pages.
We are adding existing customer reviews to Product Detail Pages pages. There are about 300 reviews per product so we're going to have to paginate reviews off of the PDP page. I'm wondering what the best url structure for reviews pages is to get the most seo benefit. For example, would it be something like this? site.com/category/product/reviews/page-1 or something that used parameters, such as: site.com/reviews?product=a Also, what is the best way to show that the internal link on the PDP page to "All Reviews" is a higher priority link than the other links on the page?

Directory Structuring - Im so confused what to do...
So there's no way I could type out my thoughts / questions. If you're bored, have a cup of coffee and some oreos, and are interested in a strange situation that I can't figure out the solution to, I'd appreciate your input: https://youtu.be/GomGOAdNens I should note ahead of time: It really is important to me to do things "by the book" and "to the letter" with SEO. So while there may be some gray areas, I would like to really do the one thing that is BEST in this situation. Thanks for any input.

Should I change client's keyword stuffed URLs?
Hi Guys, We currently have a client that offers reviews and preparation classes for their industry (online and offline). One of the main things that I have noticed is how all of their product landing page urls are stuffed with keywords. I have read changing url's will impact up to 25% traffic and to not mess with url's unless it is completely needed. My question is, when url's are stuffed with keywords and make the url length over 200 characters, should I be focusing on a more structured url system?

Clean URL help!
Hi all, In short, i'm looking to redirect examplepage.html to examplepage .I've got rid of the .html, sitewide this morning. However I want to redirect Google & people who have bookmarked the old url structure. Currently if you have the extension on or not, it will show in your browser. I'm wanting /examplepage.html to 301 redirect to /examplepage I've gone the normal way I'd do it by adding in .htaccess: Redirect 301 /examplepage.html http://www.example.com/examplepage I'm assuming it isn't redirecting as the example.html page is no longer... what is the way around this? Thanks for any help! In firefox the error of the page is: The page isn't redirecting properly Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

Capitals in URLs
Hello Mozzers. I've just been looking at a site with capitals in the URL - capitals are used in the product descriptions, so you'll have a URL structure like this: www.company.com/directory1/Double-Beds-Luxury (such URLs do not work if I lower the case of the capitals). There are 50,000 such products on the site. Clearly one drawback is potential customers might type in, or link to, the lower case of the URL and get a "not found" result (though the urls are relatively long so not that likely I'm thinking). Are there any additional drawbacks with the use of capitals outlined here?

URL strategy mobile website
Hello everyone, We are facing a challenging decision about where our website (Flash Gaming website) is going. We are in the process of creating html5 games in the same theme of the flash games that we provide to our users. Now our main concern is to decide how to show this new content to the user? Shall we create brand new set of urls such as : http://www.mydomain.com/games/mobile/kids/ Or shall we adapt the main desktop url : http://www.mydomain.com/games/kids/ and show the users two different versions of the page depending on whether they are using a mobile device (so they see a mobile version) or a pc/laptop (so they a see desktop version). Or even redirect people to a sub-domain : http://m.mydomain.com/ The main idea we had is to keep the same url structure, as it seems that google is giving the same search results if you are using a mobile device or not. And creating a new set of urls or even a sub-domain, may involve a lot of work to get those new links to the same PA as the desktop URL that is here and know since a while now. Also the desktop page game should not be accessible to the mobile devices, so should this be redirected (301?) to the mobile homepage of the site? But how google will look at the fact that one url is giving 2 different contents, CSS etc, and also all those redirects might look strange... we are worried that doing so will hurt the page authority and its ranking ... but we are trying to find the best way to combine SEO and user experience. Any input on this will be really appreciated. Cheers,

Does Google prefer Wordpress Blogs?
In creating a regular brochure website such as one for a dentist or doctor, do you see any SEO benefit to having it based in a Wordpress blog? I do see the SEO benefit of having an actual blog on the site and continually updating that, but simply using the Wordpress platform as a CMS - does that give the site any benefit? If there is a benefit, is there a way to duplicate that advantage without going through the trouble of creating a Wordpress template for the site? Maybe just publishing a sitemap.xml, and feed, etc? Thanks! Tom
