The Value of Internal Links?
-
I have seen countless SEO "experts" suggest internal links are great to help the search engines find your content. I wonder if that is true any more. It seems like a sitemap would do a better job.
I think tags may even hurt the content I want to Google to know as most important.
I'm using Simple Tags on all of my WP sites. If it "sees" a word in the article that is also a tag it adds a link for that tag to a listing of all the articles with that tag. It only does this once per tag though.
Going on the experts advice, I thought this was a good idea. But now, I'm thinking these tags reduce the value of links to my eBook or other content i want to feature. Which doesn't get tagged much since I don't promote it all that often on my site within content. I make it nearly impossible to miss it on the site though.
What I do see the tags doing is helping users find the content. So I do see it improving the bounce rate and giving uses an assist in finding more content about what they are looking for.
I have tags marked as noindex follow. But I'm really considering now removing the links. I hate plugins anyway. Seems I'm always finding another must have plugin though.
Now I'm thinking I'd be better off to just add links manually into the content that I really want to feature. All these automatic links I'm generating can't be good.
Thanks for your thoughts on this.

We do a lot of WP sites for clients and I do not like the auto generated internal links plug ins. The problem is they have a tendency to link back in a loop to the page they are linking from and some over do the internal linking. The best bet in my opinion is to know that internal links are good as they can help spread link juice to deeper pages (use them judiciously) and they do help the bots crawl.
So, IMHO, internal links are good but you need to do them by hand in my estimation so that you control them.
Hope this helps

Link in H1 tag?
Hi guys, We're working through a redesign of our product page and are considering the following: http://screencast.com/t/NBSsDGA9vgS3 Currently the product name (including the brand name - Arc'teryx) in this case is included in the H1 and none of the title is linked. You can see this here: http://www.evo.com/synthetic-jackets/arcteryx-atom-lt-hoodie-womens.aspx The firm we're working with is proposing keeping the entire title in the H1 but linking the brand name to the entire brand assortment. My concern is that the brand name is a critical part of the product title and should be text (not a link). Any suggestions? Thanks!

Webpage with around 200+ inter links per page
HI, I have a client that I recently took on and I run a SEOmoz crawl on the website and a minor error was that .. 1. web pages have more than 200+ interlinks, reason for this is becuase the client offers a service to every place in the world and then has links to contact us/about us etc those kind of pages. is this something we need to strongly avoid? 2. The title tags are all over the suggested amount by 1/2 letters. - again is this really bad?

Internal Linking - Same page
Is there any benefit in internally linking back to the same page? I have no other relevant pages in the site I can link to so wondering if it's worthwhile to use anchor text to link back to the same page?

Should I nofollow all my outbound links?
I've read a lot of stuff and I can't get a good answer about this. Now I'm reading Wordpress 3 - Search Engine Optimization, and the writer says that less outbound dofollow links you have, better for you. What is the best practice in this subject? Should I really nofollow more than 80% of all my outbound links? Thank you.

How do I Avoid Excessive Internal Links on an eCommerce site?
I think I'm getting dinged for this on Term Target because the page is full of products, which have links to their product page, but I'm not sure.
