My site is ranked in the top 5 for my keywords, but howcome I'm low in an organic search results for my key words?
-
Are the other factors such as page rank, Alexa rating and mozRank used to determine where I will show up in search results, over Goggle's key word rank for my key words?
-
OK Jeff, what are the urls associated with these? These are where you are ranking, you have to remember that if you are not using non personalized search it will be different on your machine it will be different for you than on moz

I was getting the Google key word ranking info from my seoMOZ campaign report. I copied these words and the Google rank from the report.
phoenix transmission 3
phoenix transmission repair 1
phoenix transmission shop 1
phoenix transmission shops 3
phoenix transmissions 4
I guess I thought that if I ranked at a certain number for the key words that that would be where I landed in a search for these words

Don't worry about me Steve; the therapist said I will mend. It just takes time.......
-
lol sorry I see what you mean now, I'd taken it out of context a bit there instead of leaving it as comparable to the other items in the question. My bad.
-
Oh Steve I am hurt by this...
What I am saying is that since PR is a factor that is established based on Linking, relevance, QDF, etc. it will be most important on the whole predicated on the question asked. (If he works on quality content, quality linking, etc. will his page rank rise or not?) I did not say focus on PR and do not want to leave that conclusion. Let PR rise as it will with you taking care of all that affects it.
With an individual page at a moment in time, there will be other factors: recent page with a lot of traffic, etc. will often outrank other older higher PR pages. A page that is a local business that has a highly optimized Places listing will very often outrank a higher PR page without.
Also, with the question he asked it was about googles key word ranking versus serps:
are other factors such as page rank, Alexa rating and mozRank used to determine where I will show up in search results, over Goggle's key word rank for my key words?
I am thinking that he may be looking at a couple of things: he may be on one of the sites that uses the term Google in their url but are not really Google and give keyword rankings. Since I am unaware of a keyword ranking system other than a page ranking for a given keyword query, it makes me scratch my head.
So, I hope I have extricated myself from the PR is all dilemma.
Best to you

Agree with Steve - PR is probably not what you should focus on as it is one of hundreds of factors, rarely updated and has little to do with how you rank for specific keywords. Plenty of PR 0 or 1 sites rank very highly for their target keywords.
With that out of the way, maybe we need some clarification. You say your site ranks in the top 5 for your keywords, but your are low in organic results. How are you determining how your site ranks? Just checking in a browser can yield inaccurate results since Google will use location, and your personal search and browsing history (if you haven't turned it off, and maybe even if you have turned it off) to determine what to show you.
Do you mean you are ranking in the top 5 of search results for your keywords, but not seeing the expected traffic? If that is the case, take a good look at your page titles and meta descriptions. Make sure they read nicely to people, and aren't just a bunch of keywords. It may be that you are ranking well, but the results don't stand out from the competition enough for users to click through to the site.

"There are several determinants for where you will rank in Google SERP's, but the most important is PR." <-- I've gotta disagree on that
Yeah it counts but relevance counts a lot more than just juice.
Decent content + promotional effort = quantity & quality of links (combined with the decent content) = rankings.
I wouldn't think too much on the PR or you might get sidetracked into thinking about that, more than thinking about the above
-
There are several determinants for where you will rank in Google SERP's, but the most important is PR. When you say Google's keyword rank what do you mean? Alexa shows traffic and there is not a corollary per se to where you will rank. mozRank will be closer to PR than anything I am aware of.
The other issues will be recent traffic to page, local optimization as applicable, competitiveness of the vertical, etc.

Competitor Ranks Top Keywords Without Backlinks
One of my competitors is ranking very well for many different competitive keywords (1k+ searches per month). I'm trying to figure out how in the world he is ranking so well. I've signed up for MozPro and looked at his back-links. He has 1 branded site-wide back-link from a decent blog. He also has 1 contextual back-link from a decent blog. Other than these 2 back-links, the rest are garbage links unlikely to even count for anything (he has maybe 12 of these low quality back-links). My website on the other hand has more than 15 back-links from different (high quality) websites and does not rank anywhere near this competitor. This leads me to believe that either MozPro back-link reporting is inadequate or there is foul-play on the part of my competitor. As far as on-page SEO is considered, his website is far inferior. Therefore, I highly doubt this would play a role. What are some reasonable approaches I can take to better understand the cause of this discrepancy. Clearly the back-link reporting has not revealed any answers.

What is your review of Pushfire (aka Sugarrae's firm)?
Hi guys, I told my extended network that we're hiring an SEO firm to do some white hat SEO auditing, link building, and ongoing seo consultation. Rae Hoffman's firm Pushfire came highly recommended via several sources. They seem to have a good blend of high profile (they speak at all sorts of conferences and write at various prestigious publications) and reasonable pricing. I was wondering what fellow moz members think about this firm. Any reviews or thoughts are welcome!

Strange google search - help me mozzers
Hey Mozzers How Are You All? Hope You Are Doing Well. 🙂 I need your help. I have been having a very bad experience with Google. 😞 Do you know what is "Google Dance"? Somewhere I have heard about this. I don't have even clearance about Google Dance. BTW, the problem is that i have an adult video site about a porns tar. I was ranking at 3-6 position on a "particular keyword" on google. But about 20 days ago when i searched my "keyword term", I could not find it anywhere even on page 50 in Google search. 😄 My heartbeat was gone faster. As i was getting 25k visitors from google of that keyword. 🙂 Then i looked at my webmaster tools to check "manual spam action". There was no issue with spam or anything related to it. Then i checked my google analytics i was getting visitors from google but not from the 'particular keyword'. I was sure it was not "google hit or penalized". I could not find the exact reason why did it happen. I checked my sites everything seems to be fine. Then i did "fetch as google" and the strange thing was happened, my site pop up again in google on "that keyword". But this not the end. From that day my search keyword was getting vanish within 24 hours or more in google. And i do google fetch and it again comes to search results. 😄 I tried moz tools. no such issue. Though i cannot sort out the whole matter. What’s wrong going with google. Its an adult site, otherwise I would provide my site url and the keyword. By the way, I have attached some screenshots. I am waiting for your help. Thanks to all. 🙂 gyKIRVW

At a bit of a loss as to poor rankings
I have a site in the UK, with these metrics: 15 years old 500 pages in sitemap, but Majestic says 186,000 indexed URLs ? DA of 45, PR of 3 1000 links from 200 linking root domains, across from 150 IP's (from OSE) 33,000 links in OSE when I use the compare tool and look at the "links to this root domain" section 24,000 external links according to Majestic 350 shares, 2,000 tweets, 60 +1's Median PA of linking root domains (from OSE export) = 20 no Moz on-page errors, or webmaster tools issues The above metrics are better than 2 competitors who have only just launched, have fewer links, lower DA, etc, and are ranking for keywords like "wedding entertainment", "corporate entertainers" Our site is www.superted.com Why doesn't OSE show 33,000 links when I select "links to this root domain". Why will those links only be shown when I do a domain comparison in OSE? I'm thinking our anchor text distribution is the problem. We have very few links containing the keywords want. Also maybe our sitemap is an issue as it only lists 500 of our pages? But given our domain age, DA, etc... surely anchor text / site map isn't the only issue here? Any hints would be awesome.

Slight keyword variation domain name
I have recently changed a clients domain name from a long (23 characters) to a shorter domain name that has a keyword plus a single character variation. For example and without revealing the clients real domain name, let say they are in housing. Ithe first letter in the company name is "p" so i created the doamin name as www.phousing.com It has only been two days since i submitted the new domain name and did a 301 redirect to the new page. When i do a google search i get back the result: housing.com and "did you mean housing.com Will this domain name cause me problems? Any input is greatly appreciated!
