Similar question was asked earlier today...
Within Google Webmaster Tools you can 'demote' certain pages. You can't tell Google to promote specific ones.
Having said that, using Google AdWords, you can specify sitelinks. Especially if the concern relates to the sitelinks that are showing up on branded keywords, just buy AdWords on those branded terms (especially if competitors) are advertising on your branded keywords). Buying keywords on branded terms is much less expensive than buying non-branded, competitive keywords because if someone is looking for example.com, and you are example.com, your AdWords ads will typically get quite a high CTR, which leads to a high Quality Score, which ultimately leads to a lower avg. CPC.

Recently migrated to https version of volusion site. 301 redirect link chain question
I recently migrated to a https version of a volusion site. They have some type of internal 301 redirect method to accommodate for the entire site. I have also used the 301 redirect manager to redirect categories and pages which I have changed. The question is if I have changed a page internally in the redirect manager from say source. /bluewidget to say. target. /superbluewidget is it wiser or even possible to do it this way to reduce the redirect chain from 3 to 2 steps source. /bluewidget to. target https://www.example/superbluewidget can a relative link be targeted to a full url to reduce steps in a 301 redirect link chain. Thanks

Nofollow links on our site menu
Hi Our site's front page has almost 900 internal links on it (it's an ecommerce site with about 25,000 products). A lot of these are on a pretty involved dropdown menu, which is on every page. I can't really do anything to get this figure down (its outside my remit), but one thing the developers have done is make all the menu links nofollow on the mobile version of the menu (site is responsive) - otherwise there would be even more links! My question is as to whether doing this for the mobile menu is a good idea, in terms of SEO?

Too Many Links?
Search Term is Indianapolis Wedding Photographers. Site is http://www.tallandsmallphotography.com/ Their metrics are through the roof compared to everyone else's. They've dropped from 27 in May to 40 Now. 'A' Grade on-site optimization. Either there's too many links, or there's some bad links involved... I don't know which it is...

.html extension
My new client's original web developer set up many pages with .html extensions. My plan is to turn most of these into php pages. Also, I think the .html extension displaying in the browser is just ugly so I want to drop the .html extension from those pages that remain. I know how to do this with .htaccess, but my question is should I 301 redirect all the .html pages to the page without an extension. (For example, should I redirect www.example.com/page.html to www.example.com/page) I don't know how many, in any, links there are out there to these pages, but I'm guessing not many. I'm sure it's not that big a deal but I was wondering if it would be worth the time to do that for the pages I change.

Should I ask third pages to erase their links pointing at my site?
Good Morning Seomoz Fans, let me explain what is going on: A surfing site has included a link to my Site in their Footer. apparently, this could be good for my site, but as It has nothing to do with my site, I ask myself if I should tell them to erase it. Site A (Surfing Site) is pointing at Site B (Marketing Site) on their Footer. So Site B is receiving backlinks from every single page on Site A. But Site B has nothing to do with Site A: Different Markets. Should I ask them to erase the link on their footer as Surfing people will not find my Marketing Site interesting? Thanks in advance.

Nofollow links if you have more than one link on a page to the same destination.
Hi, I am wondering if someone can confirm that its best practice to have nofollow on secondary links on a page. For instance the contact page may have a link in the navigation and in the the blurb down the page have another link to the contact page saying contact us here etc.. So in this instance i would put a nofollow on the secondary link in the blurb would this be the best way to impliment this. Many thanks Chris

Image Link
If I have an image that is well optimiswed for a keyword that the page it is on is ranking for but i put a no follow in the image link - is this going to lose the value of the image on that page. A strange question i know but this image i have on my homepage is optimised around a keyword, the image is also a link but when i changed the link in the image to no follow i seem to have dropped rankings for that keyword. Probably consicidence but i thought i would throw this question out there and get some views?
