Rel=author rel=me
-
I am an e-commerce website with a blog, creating content on my website but also guest posting for others. I also have a Google + page.
Do i need to do the rel=author rel=me? does it benefit me?
I am confused on how it works, can someone outline the basics please? i gather i put rel=me in the page that is about me and author on the blog posts i do/gues posts?
Any help much appreciated.

Hi there, thanks for that. How do i connect my individual profile to the company profile on google+?
-
Here is what you will need to do:
a) setup a g+ profile for your individual account
b) Connect that across to your company g+ profile
c) on the individual g+ profile, update the contributor to section to redirect to your blog's root domain
d) From the individual posts, rel=me to the g+ profile URL

I am sorry i just am so confused. Ok i have no author page, i have a blog section and a google + profile. WHat do i do simply?
I noticed on my Google+ page for the business page i do not have a ;contributor' section. Meaning an individual has to do this?

Author page is not a necessity. You can use rel=me from individual blog posts as well. Rel=me will connect with your g+ profile.
You are already doing a rel=me to the root domain by using the 'Contributor To' section of your g+. It works behind the scenes.
Now, you need to claim the content by using rel=me at the individual blog post level or at the level of an author page that will in turn get connected with the rel=author tag.
It sounds confusing, but it isn't actually.
Thanks,

So you have to have an author page for this to work, i cannot make rel=me go to just the root blog directory?
-
Here is what you need to do:
a) Create a g+ profile
b) in the 'contributor to' section, link out to the blog for which you write.
c) on the blog post, add a rel=me tag and point back to the g+ profile or, setup an author page on the blog. From the author page, use a rel=me tag and link back to your g+ profile. If you were to setup an author page, each post on your blog will need to link to the author page using rel=author tag.

Rajesh Dhawan

Rel=publisher
I've had the rel=publisher set up correctly for months now and verified it using the Google rich snippet tool. For some reason when I search my site/brand the Google+ profile will not show? Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to have it show up? Thanks!

I am trying to implement rel=publisher but am having some difficulties. Although I have over 1000 fans when I try and verify my page I get a message from Google that "Your page does not have enough followers to be eligible for verification" I have the following code on my pages: <td id="ctl00_header_socialctrl_tdgooglepluslinkctrl"> <a href="<a class="webkit-html-attribute-value webkit-html-external-link" href="https://plus.google.com/+thelotter/posts" target="_blank">https://plus.google.com/[myname]/posts" id="ctl00_Header_socialCtrl_GooglePlusLinkCtrl_hyperLinkSocial" target="_blank" class="socialIcon googlePlusIcon"></a href="<a></td id="ctl00_header_socialctrl_tdgooglepluslinkctrl"> What should I be doing differently? Rel publisher code implementation
Hi,We have had Rel=publisher implemented on our Blog for sometime, and in the Rich Snippets for our Brand name i can see data and some of our latest news articles do appear. I am not convinced the Meta tag has been implemented correctly however and would appreciate a second opinion. The code we have is as follows: <div class="<a class="attribute-value">g-plusone</a>" data-href="<a class="attribute-value">https://plus.google.com/116305698538579695036/posts?hl=en-GB</a>" rel="<a class="attribute-value">publisher</a>">div> Looking around its recomended to add this as a link element, and the page we do link to is the comment section not the home page that would end after our company ID. Now i dont know HTML (Something i really need to remedy) but would this be an issue? The Rich snippet testing tool also does not recognise the code on the blog pages.

What if an employee leaves and removes Rel=Author verification from their Google Plus profile?
What if someone leaves your company and removes your site from their Google Plus profile (under "Contributor To"). Does that kill all the rel=author on the pages written by this former employee? (Should you use the email verification with employees to avoid this scenario? Email verification is a big hassle for us.)

Leverage other peoples author rank for your site?
Hi quick question, lets say you find writers in your niche and get them to do a guest post for your site and they have also built up alot of author rank (active google+ account, tones of social media followers). From my understanding you cannot leverage their author rank for your site since their google+ profile needs to be connected to your site? Unless it connected, you will not get any author rank benefit? Cheers, Mark

Google 'Author' tag question (Guest Blogging)
Hi, It seems like im seeing more and more about the Author tag, its now in Webmaster Tools and Google+. If your guest blogging, is it a good idea to include the Author link back to your Google+ account? If your Google+ account is also connected to your website and Google confirms they can see the connection does the Author links help with ranking when you push them back to the connected Google+ account?

Can you set up a Google 'author' for rich snippets using a G+ business page or does it have to be a personal profile?
I've set up an author profile for myself, but if I'm writing articles for clients, I don't necessarily want to do it in my own name. Is it possible to set up a Google author profile using a G+ business page? Obviously the idea is to try and gain the rich snippets that only recognised authors receive, but to do so in the name of my client.
