Looking for a good example of local pages done right
-
I am looking for a company or two that serves customers in multiple regions and has their site set up in the best possible way to target those areas.
I would like, if possible, to see an example of a company that has an address in each area served, and one that only has one base location, but travels to serve customers.
-
Hi Again,
I recommend one page per physical address. So, if you've got 3 offices in a single city, that equals 3 pages.
-
What if a city has multiple addresses in that area. One page for that city or a new page for each location within the city?
-
Hi Webfeat,
I'm very happy with the way this project turned out (I wrote the copy) for a storage facility in Canada. As you will see, each location has its own page, with totally unique content and NAP for each of the 3 locations:
Here's another client of mine that I've begun working with to develop a set of unique pages for each of the cities his carpet cleaning company serves:
http://www.eminentcarpetcleaning.com/
The site isn't ideal at this point, but it does show the method of beginning to build out city landing pages in the In Your City section.
The thing to remember is that Google is always going to see a business as being most relevant to its city of location, so typically, what you are going for with brick-and-mortar businesses is local rankings and what you're going for with service radius businesses is organic rankings for the service cities...but the success of this method is dependent on a) competitiveness of the vertical and b) client budget.
Hope this helps and maybe other will add some more.

Best way to link to 1000 city landing pages from index page in a way that google follows/crawls these links (without building country pages)?
Currently we have direct links to the top 100 country and city landing pages on our index page of the root domain.

I would like to add in the index page for each country a link "more cities" which then loads dynamically (without reloading the page and without redirecting to another page) a list with links to all cities in this country.
I do not want to dillute "link juice" to my top 100 country and city landing pages on the index page.
I would still like google to be able to crawl and follow these links to cities that I load dynamically later. In this particular case typical site hiearchy of country pages with links to all cities is not an option. Any recommendations on how best to implement?0 -

How to promote good content?
Our team just finished a massive piece of content.. very similar to the SEOmoz Begginer's Guide to SEO, but for the salon/aesthetics industry. We have a beautifully designed 10 Chapter, 50-page PDF which will require an email form submission to download. Each chapter is optimized for specific phrases, and will be separate HTML pages that are publicly available... very much like how this is setup: http://www.seomoz.org/beginners-guide-to-seo My question is, what's the best way to promote this thing? Any specific examples would be ideal. I think blogger outreach would likely be the best approach, but is there any specific way that I should be doing this?.. Again a specific start-to-finish example is what I'm looking for here. (I've read almost every outreach post on moz, so no need to reference them) Anyone care to rattle off a list of ideas with accompanying examples? (even if they seem like no-brainers.. I'm all ears)

What to do if the wrong page is ranking?
What to do if the wrong page of your website is ranking and you cannot 301 it? Apparently an outsourced company the previous manager hired build anchor text links to the homepage, when those links should have been pointing to a deeper page. As a result, the hompage is now ranking for that term. But I think we can convert a lot more of the visitors if the deeper page is there instead. Obviously, I can't 301 the homepage. What would you do?

Ranking locally without local keywords in title?
I have a website that targets national keywords. I would like to be able to rank locally for these keywords as well without having the city in the title. What is the best strategy for this?

High number of items per page or low number with more category pages?
In SEO terms, what would be the best method: High number of items per page or low number with more pages? For example, this category listing here: http://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/90/fsx-civil-aircraft/ It has 10 items per page. Would there be any benefit of changing a listing like that to 20 items in order to decrease the number of pages in the category? Also, what other ways could you increase the SEO of category listings like that?

Noindex term for pages
I have a client who has a virtuemart site and all of the "ask a question on this product" had been indexed on google. I have managed to get a noindex meta tag into the ask a question page, will these be dropped from the index next time they are crawled and google sees the noindex?
