Getting backlinks without content marketing
-
Hey i have a client who currently has a large ecommerce store with over 50,000 hits a months. I've made the recommendation that they should consider adding a blog and invest in content activities. However they won't be able to do so for quite some time.
In the mean time what are some ways i can get backlinks (whitehat only).
I'm thinking guest posting on high DA blogs and sites is the best bet.
Also sponsorship, CSR activties, and the occasional press release.
Can anyone recommend any other ways, or methods i can use to obtain good quality links, or articles which discuss this topic.
Thanks,
Mark

We have helped many customers achieve TOP 5 rankings without ever using content marketing!
In fact, there are many other powerful linkbuilding strategies like :
- blog commenting on quality blogs with dofollow comments
- forum posting on area specific forums with incontent links
- social bookmarking
- directories preferably good quality one and done manually of course
Of course, you might say, this is so old style SEO! And I would have to agree with you, but guess what? they still work quite well even on highly competitive keywords when done properly.
Anyway, good luck to you.

Yes there are lot of other ways you can get quality links and content is not the only way as Rand says. Check out this video which mentions other methods of link building other than content.
One way is to perform competitors analysis and see what links your competitors are getting and approach those sites though creative emails to get the link from there. Use Open site explorer tool to see your competitor's links/.
Hope that helps.

Relevancy of backlinks for scholarship resource
Hello, We want to build a niche scholarship tool for our Ecommerce site. It will sort through relevant scholarships for a certain demographic, say, Hispanic engineering students for example. My question is: If the tool's focus is Hispanic engineering scholarships, and we sell supplies that are in the same general category as products that engineers use, will the backlinks we gain from people linking to our tool be relevant. The main reason I ask is that I think most backlinks will be from Hispanic sites, and I don't know if there will be enough relevance to make the links help. What are your thoughts on this?

Best strategy for duplicate content?
Hi everyone, We have a site where all product pages have more or less similar text (same printing techniques, etc.) The main differences are prices and images, text is highly similar. We have around 150 products in every language. Moz's algorithm tells me to do something about duplicate content, but I don't really know what we could do, since the descriptions can't be changed to be very different. We essentially have paper bags in different colors and and from different materials.

Merge content pages together to get one deep high quality content page - good or not !?
Hi, I manage the SEO of a brand poker website that provide ongoing very good content around specific poker tournaments, but all this content is split into dozens of pages in different sections of the website (blog section, news sections, tournament section, promotion section). It seems like today having one deep piece of content in one page has better chance to get mention / social signals / links and therefore get a higher authority / ranking / traffic than if this content was split into dozens of pages. But the poker website I work for and also many other website do generate naturally good content targeting long tail keywords around a specific topic into different section of the website on an ongoing basis. Do you we need once a while to merge those content pages into one page ? If yes, what technical implementation would you advice ? (copy and readjust/restructure all content into one page + 301 the URL into one). Thanks Jeremy

What is a good content for google?
When we start to study SEO and how google see our webpage, one important point is to have good content. But, for beginners like me, we get lost on this. Is not so black and white: what for you is a good content? the text amount matters? there is any trick that all good content websites need to have?

Duplicate content
Is there manual intervention required for a site that has been flagged for duplicate content to get back to its original rankings, once the duplicated content has been removed? Background: Our site recently experienced a significant drop in traffic around the time that a chunk of content from other sites (ie. duplicate) went live. While it was not an exact replica of the pages on other sites, there was quite a bit of overlap. That content has since been removed, but our traffic hasn't improved. What else can we do to improve our ranking?

Duplicate Content
Hi everyone, I have a TLD in the UK with a .co.uk and also the same site in Ireland (.ie). The only differences are the prices and different banners maybe. The .ie site pulls all of the content from the .co.uk domain. Is this classed as content duplication? I've had problems in the past in which Google struggles to index the website. At the moment the site appears completely fine in the UK SERPs but for Ireland I just have the Title and domain appearing in the SERPs, with no extended title or description because of the confusion I caused Google last time. Does anybody know a fix for this? Thanks
