Www. & Non-www versions problem
-
I currently have both WWW and non-WWW versions of my site live on the web, and I want to be able to have all non-WWW to point to WWW.http://nile-cruises-4u.co.ukhttp://www.nile-cruises-4u.co.uk
I want just the WWW version of the site live.I'm wondering the best way to resolve this?Is it normally dealt with in the .htaccess file and I think, looks like this but I'm not sure:<code>RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. RewriteRule ^(.*)$ [http://www.](http://www.)%{HTTP_HOST}/$1 [R=301,L]</code>

Hi Colin,
Login to wordpress admin panel then go to setting -> General and in that change put
WordPress Address (URL) = http://www.nile-cruises-4u.co.uk/ and
Site Address (URL) = http://www.nile-cruises-4u.co.uk/
Hope this helps you...

Thanks to Sanket I've successfully managed to have the site show only www. and not the non-www. versions.
However I have a blog on the site and that still shows the non-www. version, for example:
http://nile-cruises-4u.co.uk/blog/makadi-palace-hotel-makadi-bay/
I wonder if anyone has come upon the same problem and what the solution might be?
Thanks,
Colin

AMP for Online Forums/Communities
This great article by Eric Enge makes a compelling case for jumping to AMP for news sites, but does anyone have any data or have heard of an online forum using AMP as well? I run an online community and we are thinking of making the (relatively heavy) investment into making most of our pages AMP friendly... Thank you! Patrick

Text to Code Ratio & SEO
Hi Has anyone had experience of updating their text to code ratio if its too high & whether this has much impact on SEO performance? I am trying to prioritise tasks & wondered if this is something which should be higher on my list. Thank you 🙂

Image Sitemap for non indexed Products
Hi, we have several ecommerce sites. We want to do an image sitemap, as we have lots of attractive images. The question is, can you put images for non-indexed products there as well, or does that conflict with the normal sitemap (the images would be indexed, the products not)? Thanks in advance. Show parts of page A on page B & C?
Good afternoon,
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | rayvensoft
A quick question. I am working on a website which has a large page with different sections. Lets say: Page 1
SECTION A
SECTION B
SECTION C Now, they are adding a new area where they want to show only certain sections, so it would look like this: Page 2
SECTION A Page 3
SECTION C Page 4
SECTION D So my question is, would a rel='canonical' tag back to Page 1 be the correct way of preempting any duplicate content issues? I do not need Page 2-4 to even be indexed, it is just a matter of usability and giving the users what they are looking for without all the rest of the extra stuff. Gracias. Tesekürler. Salamat Ko. Thanks. (bonus thumbs up for anybody who knows which languages each of those are) 🙂0 -
Extensions Vs Non Extensions
Hello, I'm a big fan of clean urls. However i'm curious as to what you guys do, to remove them in a friendly way which doesn't cause confusion. Standard URLS

http://www.example.com/example5/ Do you keep extensions throughout your website, avoiding any sort of confusion and page duplication; OR Put a canonical link pointing to the extension-less version of each page, with the anticipation of this version indexing into Google and other Search Engines. OR 301 Each page which has an extension to an extension-less version, and remove all linking to ".html" site wide causing errors within software like Dreamweaver, but working properly. OR Another way? Please emphasise I'm sorry if this is a little vague and I appreciate any angles on this, I quite like clean url's but unsure a hassle-less way to create it. Thanks for any advice in advance0 -
301 Redirection problems
A couple of days ago we did a restructure of our e-commerce site (wordpress + woocomerce) where some product categories needed to change names. I used Yoast SEO plugin to do 301 redirects in the .htaccess file.Today I noticed that we had two hits in the SERP on the phrase "dildos med vibrator". See the attached screenshot (first two results). One goes to http://www.oliverocheva.se/kategori/sexleksaker/dildos/dildos-med-vibrator/ which is the right URL. One goes to http://www.oliverocheva.se/kategori/sexleksaker/dildosdildos-med-vibrator-dildos-for-honom/ which is a corrupt URL that has never been in use. The old one we did a redirect from was /kategori/for-honom/dildos-for-honom/dildos-med-vibrator-dildos-for-honom/The command in the .htaccess file was: Redirect 301 /kategori/for-honom/dildos-for-honom/dildos-med-vibrator-dildos-for-honom/ http://www.oliverocheva.se/kategori/sexleksaker/dildos/dildos-med-vibratorWhat has happened here? Why does the 301 create entirely new URL:s in the SERP?Tz0TULT.png

Is it a problem to have too many 301 redirects within your site
my website is translated into 10+ languages, but our news articles are often only published in 1-2 languages. Currently, URLs are created in the unpublished news languages that then 301 redirect the user to main news page since the content doesnt exist in that language. Is this implementation okay or is there a preferred method we should be using so that we don't have a large number of pages on the site with redirects? Thanks!
