Facebook Likes When Sharing
-
Company A Someone shares a post from Company B on their Facebook page.
The post generated 1000 likes and 300 shares. Only a small percentage of likes show up for Company B's page.
Why does Company B's page not receive all the likes or at least a higher percentage for that post?

Paid promotion is a good starting point, but not necessary. Paid promotion only goes so far.
General advertising on a number of mediums both online and offline will get you likes too. Let people know you have a Facebook, keep it active and people will like your page.
Write a blog and include your Facebook link. On forums add a Facebook link in your signature. On paper advertisements, include the Facebook logo and a simple link to it, e.g. www.facecook.com/inmarketingwetrust
I also see you don't have your Facebook account on your Moz profile. That is also I good place to start.

Thanks for your answer. Is there any other way to do this to generate more likes?
-
Did company A share, or post a link on Company B's page? That is the main difference.
The way Facebook sets up 'sharing' posts is that it creates an entire new post with a redirect link to the original post.
If people like or comment on the shared post, Company B will gain the exposure. However, they have the option to click to the original post of Company A and like or comment on there.
-
Because people is liking, sharing and commenting on company's A post, regardless if it was a re-share. Company B will only benefit of that as a "share" and if the users who see company A's post goes to company b's post and like/share/comment there.

Does Google give more ranking weight for Shares for One Social Network over Another.
We are using BuzzSumo to explore the types of content that generate the highest number of shares per article. Does anyone have data to suggest that a share on Google+ carries more ranking weight than a share on Twitter or Facebook, or LinkedIn? We have seen a recent case with one of our client's competitors where they significantly grew their Google+ shares within a relatively short period of time and gained a higher rank for a key search phrase that my client is also targeting. Thank you, Rosemary Brisco

Sharing images on twitter
Hi, I want to start sharing images on Twitter, because our industry regulator (FCA) suggests it's possible to share more info about complicated financial products (we are a mortgage broker) where you can't get all the detail needed in 140 characters to be 'clear, fair and not misleading'... I have been thinking about putting mortgage info in images to be shared, but the problem I can foresee is if the rate gets withdrawn by the lender, and the image is already out there (hopefully being shared), it's still our responsibility (according to the FCA guidelines anyway), and we'd be misleading people (unintentionally, but still...) ... It's all a bit of a minefield! So... If the image is hosted on our server and we just change the content of the image but not its file name, location etc... it should update, right? BUT is this even possible? As far as I can tell Twitter only lets you upload an image for sharing (so the image is displayed) and doesn't display images you're hosting... If anyone can tell me how to do this I'd be very grateful... If it's not possible, please also let me know 🙂 Thanks! Amelia

SEO with facebook and twitter
Hi all, It's become more apparent to us all going forward after the panda update that social signals are becoming more and more important in regards to SERPS. Our website is www.capitalalist.com and is gaining a decent amount of traffic from Twitter. www.capitalalist.com/twitter and we have managed to work out what works for us on twitter and what doesnt allowing us to interact with our followers more and more. The problem is facebook. Direct marketing doesn't work here. Our page is www.facebook.com/capitalalist but we are struggling to get any traffic or interaction with our friends. Any advice on how to market properly for facebook for seo purposes? Thanks in advance.

How do website owners gain from facebook scams like this?
I've noticed two things that are going wild on Facebook this week: http://timhortonsgiveaway.me/ and http://promoforipads.net/ In the first scenario, you supposedly just click share and they'll send you a $25 Tim Horton's gift card. (For those who don't know Tim's it is a very popular coffee shop in Canada). There's no way this is happening...they claim to have something like 5000 cards to give away. In the second one they're apparently giving away 1000 ipods. Yeah...OK. So, they're obviously scams that are just trying to get a few zillion facebook shares. But why?

Moderate blog comments Yes/No? Facebook comment plugin?
I was reading outbound marketing and they suggest that a good blog "does not" moderate comments. I have always taken the moderate approach, but their thought was this inhibits a conversation from taking place on the blog. I am wondering what thoughts others may have on this and its potential positive and negative impacts, both SEO and in general. Also I am thinking about using a Facebook plugin with my blogposts. I think this may be a good way to help get social visibility... Has anyone tried this yet?

How does Google 'see' Facebook shares?
With Rand's new post about the correlation between FB Shares and rankings, I wanted to ask... How is Google able to see what links are being shared? Does the profile have to be public? Or do they get anonymous info direct from FB as part of some deal?
