I have plenty of backlinks but the site does not seem to come up on Google`s first page.
-
My site has been jumping up and down for many months now. but it never stays on Google first page. I have plenty of back-links, shared content on social media. But what could i be doing wrong? any help will be appreciated.
Content is legit. I have recently added some internal links is this might be the cause?
Please help .

i have used yoast plugins but it didn't help that much. I can't figure out if the problem is on page seo or off page seo.
-
Hi, I can recommend the yoast plugin for SEO (for wordpress sites). I don't have a wordpress site to look after anymore, but when I did I used this and it was the DBs!
-
Well if the site is new and you are not greatly tied to it in any way, I'd start over. Not that you can't recover but it can take quite a while and will be some work. You have come to right place to learn though and that is to your credit! Check out some of the beginner guides here: http://moz.com/learn/seo
Wordpress is great and I am a big fan of Genesis and the Studiopress themes. Get a good host like WP Engine or Websynthesis just to name a couple. But most of all read in this forum.
Welcome and good luck!

Thanks gazzerman1 and chris661 for your replies.
I am just new to wordpress and brought the theme and just started using them. Not sure about the coding on top.
I have seen site like mine ranking better than me even with the spammy backlinks. My seo guy messed up the links and it was too expensive so i started learning it myself.
I am new to this but dying to learn how i can improve it.
Shall i just work on a different site because i dont think i am able to get rid of them bad backlinks.
thanks

Also in addition to what Gazzerman sees, looks like the WP template files that probably came as a demo with the theme are still there and indexed with the WP Latin boilerplate. This needs to be cleaned up. Use the site: operator in Google search and you will see them. I don't mean to be blunt but Backlinks look pretty spammy to me. If you paid for links like a lot of the comment spam and profile spam, you need to clean those up as well.
Best,

Is it the the url on your profile? If so I just took a look at the code and you have 1600 lines of code before the first line of text, why is there so much code on this page? It should all be put in a style sheet and js files.
Google will favor better optimized sites, especially when its as bad as that. The site on the surface looks great.
Its not about the quantity of links but the quality, a good link is worth a thousand crappy ones and the weak ones can even hurt you.
Until we can look at your site and know for sure what one it is and then understand a keyterm your talking about for us to analyze it will be too difficult to answer your needs.

Anyone backlinks from hacked FaceBook widgets?
I was going through my backlink profile the other day and started noticing a huge number of new back links, like 100k. Digging through them, I am seeing a lot of links that are inserted in Facebook feed widgets. You will see the link at the bottom of the widget. From what I can see, a lot of these links are all in this format, all on European domains, all running WordPress. Doesn't seem to have anything do to spamminess. Had domains that were on blacklists, some not. Anyone seen anything like this before? The only thing I can think of was maybe an automated hack bot that inserted the link when it was able to get in? Forcing Entire site to HTTPS
We have a Wordpress site and hope to force everything to HTTPS. We change the site name (in wordpress settings) to https://mydomain.com In the htaccess code = http://moz.com/blog/htaccess-file-snippets-for-seos Ensure we are using HTTPS version of the site. RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !on RewriteRule (.*) https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301] but some blogs http://stackoverflow.com/questions/19168489/https-force-redirect-not-working-in-wordpress say RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off RewriteRule ^ https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301] Which one is right? 🙂 and are we missing anything?

Obscene anchor text linking to non-existent pages on my site
My website seems to be rapidly accumulating links from what seem to be reputable websites and which are going to non-existent pages on my website. The anchor text of many of these links is obscene. Here is the URL of one of the pages that is linking to me. I contacted the originating site a couple of weeks ago and they are looking into it but I've not heard back. I'm guessing the originating sites have been hacked. Should I be concerned? Why are they linking to pages on my site that don't exist? http://www.radicalartistsagency.com/htmlarea/language/0content_abo_utus.html Looking at the page source of this page reveals the hidden links.

Identifying why my site has a penalty
Hi, My site has been hit with a google penalty of some sort, but it doesn't coincide with a penguin or panda update. I have attached a graph of my visits that demonstrates this. I have been working on my SEO since the latter part of last year and have been seeing good results, then all of a sudden my search referrals dropped by 70%. Can anyone advise on what it could be? Thanks! Will XBvZq2e

Google Penguin for non-English queries?
Does anybody know if non-English queries were also 'hit' by the Google Penguin update? All Penguin horror stories out there are from sites focusing on English queries, and in some (Dutch) industries I'm monitoring, some sites with spammy backlink profiles are still ranking.

Methods for getting links to my site indexed?
What are the best practices for getting links to my site indexed in search engines. We have been creating content and acquiring backlinks for the last few months. They are not being found in the back link checkers or in the Open Site Explorer. What are the tricks of the trade for imporiving the time and indexing of these links? I have read about some RSS methods using wordpress sites but that seems a little shady and i am sure google is looking for that now. Look forward to your advice.

Why did Google reject us from Google News?
I submitted our site, http://www.styleblueprint.com to Google to pontentially be a local news source in Nashville. I received the following note back: We reviewed your site and are unable to include it in Google News at this

time. We have certain guidelines in place regarding the quality of sites
which are included in the Google News index. Please feel free to review
these guidelines at the following link: http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=35769#3 Clicking the link, it anchors to the section that says: These quality guidelines cover the most common forms of deceptive or manipulative behavior, but Google may respond negatively to other misleading practices not listed here (e.g. tricking users by registering misspellings of well-known websites). It's not safe to assume that just because a specific deceptive technique isn't included on this page, Google approves of it. Webmasters who spend their energies upholding the spirit of the basic principles will provide a much better user experience and subsequently enjoy better ranking than those who spend their time looking for loopholes they can exploit. etc... Now we have never intentionally tried to do anything deceptive for our rankings. I am new to SEOmoz and new to SEO optimization in general. I am working through the errors report on our campaign site but I cannot tell what they are dinging us for. Whatever it is we will be happy to fix it. All thoughts greatly appreciated. How does someone rank page one on google for one domain for over 150 keywords?
A local seo is exclaiming his fantastic track record for a pool company(amonst others) in our local market. Over 150 keywords on page one of google. I checked out a few things using some moz tools and didn't find anything that would suggest that this has come from white hat strategies, tactics or links etc. Interested in how he is doing this and if it is white hat? Thanks, C
