Best French language articles on basic on-page optimization
-
I work for a bilingual organization and we've recently started more hands-on training for staff and content creators for SEO and content creation. We've put together a good guide in English but I'm hoping we can provide the French speakers with some solid French SEO articles that can help fill in the gaps that we don't get translated. We're looking for a basic guide to SEO, similar to Moz's guide to on-page SEO (in content, doesn't need to be as fancy).
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
You could check http://referencement.abondance.com/ (France) - not really rocket science but it covers the basics and quality should be ok. Other sources could be http://www.livre-referencement.com/ (ebook or book). Not associated with them, and didn't use them either, so I can't judge the quality. Abondance is referenced on http://ceseo.org/certification/preparer-lexamen/ - CESEO is an organisation which aims to improve the quality of the SEO consultants in France.
Hope this helps,
Dirk

Google has translated their guide into several languages. Here's the French version: http://static.googleusercontent.com/media/www.google.fr/fr/fr/intl/fr/webmasters/docs/search-engine-optimization-starter-guide-fr.pdf. It's older, but covers the basics well enough. For updated work you might have to take on a French SEO as a guide to further educate the rest of your staff.

Planning an analytical article focused on link building. Do you have any suggestions on what you'd like to see analyzed in a data-backed study?
So far, I'm working backwards. Goal: product a data-rich piece of content that will help other agencies or internal marketing departments explain trends in link building and show the value in it. Means to gather data: Moz, Ahrefs, manual searching What is missing right now is the angle. I was thinking about taking 100 high volume keywords in the SaaS/software space, and looking for trends in the sites that rank well with regards to search volumes and number of links etc. This feels a bit weak to me. Any suggestions? I'd appreciate any insights so thank you for taking the time!

Best way to utilize an infographic...... do I have the makings of one?
I have read the REALLY great post on YouMoz about HOW to push an infographic but I wanted to throw this out for discussion: I operate an seo / Internet marketing company but I am also a partner in a party rental business here in Wichita. I have the material for a GREAT infographic (I think) a copy of our party rental yellow page ad with a tracking # in the ad (provided by yellowbook to see how many calls we receive every month) a report from yellowbook showing we received 277 calls in a YEAR from that ad a screenshot of Google analytics showing we received 16,000 visits during the same time period. (12k unique visits) 300 calls vs 12,000 unique visits Of those 12,000 contacts we had 3,700 of them get online quotes and provide their name, address, email and phone number. Yellow pages = 300 calls / 150-200 actual sales Internet = 12,000 unique visits, 3700 leads and ... ? ... probably 800 sales This proves in black and white right from yellowbook themselves what an AMAZING difference there is in the value of SEO vs old school phone book ads. Does this have the making of a good infograph? Can you see where this would be helpful to show potential clients? How would you use this to promote your business? Thanks for your thoughts and opinions. If this can help others I would be happy to share more specifics. Matthew

Schema, RDFa or microformats? Which is best for long-term success in a competitive market vertical?
I've read statements compelling one to think about Schema as a "sports car" and RDFa (and microformats) as a diesel truck... both having merit depending on what you want to do. Although Schema was just announced and seems to have broad support - is it compatible with RDFa 1.1 syntax? I've utilized microformats on a few site with great success but embarking on a very large project and feel structured markeup would give an edge over the competition. Would love to have a discussion with folks on this subject. Thanks!
