Is there any point in reciprocal linking anymore?
-
I have the opoprtunity to exchange links w/ some partner sites relevant to our industry.

In terms of pure SEO benefit, it is not very helpful. It also can get you penalized, if it's abused/the majority of your backlinks. However, there can be very legitimate reasons to do and can bring you traffic.
For example, if you sell widget X, and people who buy that widget tend to buy widget Y, then mutual linking could help you both. Perhaps something like, one person sells iPhones and you sell iPhone cases.

If it is a trusted website that is relevant to your industry and would be helpful to your visitors, yes. There is still a benefit to reciprocal linking - as long as you don't go wild with it.

Link over-building?
Hello all. One of the first things we do for our clients is to claim their local listings, include them on a set of selected directories (8-10), and blog directories (5), if applicable. Since they will all be linked to the client site, could doing all of this at once run us into problems with unnatural link growth? Thanks! Frank

Links in the Classifieds
We rent apartments. One way we use to find clients is to advertize these apartments in Classifieds. Generally, we use free ads. Sometimes, for very popular sites ( like Kijiji), we pay so our ads can be seen first. Could this be a problem with Google? Some sites send us clients, many of them never do. We keep putting ads there because of their PR. What is the worth of this kind of links? Thanks for your answers.

Which is better - A) links from multiple IP addresses, or B) Links with more associated social signals?
If you had to choose: A) 100 links contained in posts on 100 PR2* blogs, all on separate IP addresses, where none of the posts had associated social signals, or B) 100 links contained in posts within a single PR2* blog (single IP address), where each of the posts had 20 associated social signals, Which would you choose to increase your SERP performance? *I chose PR2 so that PageRank would not be a factor in the decision.

Link to those that link to you? Worthwhile?
We have thousands and thousands of sites that link to a domain we are working on, many with low page authority and high domain (bloggers, forum posts, etc). Has anyone experimented with linking to the pages that link to you (not from your site) but from other means in an effort to boost their quality? I'm not sure what method we would use, maybe some relevant blog comments or social votes. But curious if this could be an effective method.
