Is pagerank still a ranking factor for Google?
-
Hello Friends,
Just want to confirm that the announcement by Google officials for no more pagerank update (Oct 14) is only for the Google toolbar update but pagerank still exists and still a ranking factor for Google?
http://searchengineland.com/google-toolbar-pagerank-finally-officially-dead-205277
Please help.
Regards

Good point Eric! But the number AND quality of links still matter - even if it isn't called PageRank. Just clarifying that link authority and relevancy is being passed from one site to another...
-
Google may still be using something related to PageRank or may still be using PageRank internally. They may use it for determining which pages to crawl first--and which ones to crawl less often.
However, publicly there is no PageRank data available, and it's not going to be updated in the future. So, we can consider it dead at this time.

Google pagerank is probably still a ranking factor (not as important as it once was) however the public version of Page Rank, what you and me sees will never be updated again, last update if memory serves me well Dec 2013, but they will still be updating their version of pagerank - but as AI becomes more and more intelligent, traditional signals will disappear.
Moz DA and PA would be a better metric to use these days as thats still updated (monthly) and you can see whats impacting the score.
-
Defunct would be a good way to describe Pagerank. Once a ranking signal but now no more. Domain Authority is a good way to measure your ability to rank. However, SEO's law of mystery means that no indicator will apply accurately in every circumstance.
-
Yes it is not a ranking factor, i'm sure they have an internal system but nothing that is published. The last pagerank update was a bit of a mistake as i recall so don't use it as a signal.
Moz, Ahref & majestic have a good rough idea of a prediction of how things will rank but no one will ever know for sure what makes google's special sauce for rankings.

Ranking fluctuations from week to week
Over the past couple of months I have seen a couple of my campaigns have key phrases that change from week to week from being in the top 3 to being >51. I worked pretty hard on the sites to get them mostly #1 for their preferred key phrases, and haven't been working that hard lately, but not sure what to make of it. It looks as though those keyphrases that dropped this week to >51 will probably be back in the top 3. Makes it diffuclt when you are trying to prepare a report for your client. Any suggestions are welcomed, and Happy New Year!

Keyword Ranking Report: does the organic traffic data take into account visitors logged into Google?
Hi there In Google Analytics, if a visitor to your website is logged into Google at the time of searching, the referral keyword is registered as 'unknown'. So, I am curious as to how the traffic data for any given keyword in my campaign is calculated? Thanks Laurie

Google Local results ranking
Are Google Local position results included in Moz ranking reports? If not, how can these be tracked and monitored? Is a Google Local result likely to achieve a similar CTR as previous organic results? Some of our previous good organic search rankings seem to have been replaced by Google Local results for our restaurant and hotel clients. Is this likely to achieve the same traffic and if not, is there a way to get back to organic results? Thanks!

Are the SEOMoz queries banned by Google?
Hi: In our company, we have notified that Google is banning our IP due to massive queries under the same IP. It is caused mainly by local softwares installed in PCs or some plugins of Firefox. We think that SEOmoz don´t causes this due to its tool uses its own IP and servers, not ours. We would like your opinion about this. Thank you,

Claim Universal Placement Media in Rankings Report
There are several videos of ours on 3rd party sites (YouTube, Vimeo) that are in universal placements but show as not ours. Since they are not on our domain is there a way we can claim them in the rankings report to make the report more accurate?

It would be Great if their were further integrations with Google Webmaster Tools
It would be great if their were plans to integrate Google Webmaster Tools into the mix. Specifically the Errors section. I am currently working on a new Campaign where I am seeing a little bit of overlap, but Google is finding all sorts of different missing pages from 3 redesigns ago but also quite a few current ones. Currently in SEOmoz: 0 Errors, while Google is reporting 12 - 403 Errors for some content the client unpublished. While the addition of Google Analytics was a nice, it would be great to dig further into Webmaster tools and Analytics with features that discover errors and provide actionable next steps. Is anyone else seeing these discrepancies between SEOmoz and Google Webmaster Tools?

Links counted in Google Webmaster Tools vs. OpenSiteExplorer
Hi all SEOmozzers, site: http://f8phototravel.pl I have (in my GMT profile) 43 domains linking. Among them one of the biggest Polish like: onet.pl (5/187), gazeta.pl (8/393), grono.net.pl, canon-board.info, eturystyka.org and other. They are not present in OpenSiteExplorer. Any ideas why? Thanks, Marek */ Alexa rank (Poland/Global)
