What is the average response time for Reconsideration request
-
I know that Google states 'several' weeks but just wondering if anybody has any experience with a Reconsideration request and if they got any type of reply and what their general experience was.
thanks
-
It took 2 weeks for us a few months ago, but we were simply told that the site did not have a penalty.
We made some changes both internally and created some better links and we were back up the rankings,

Hey Barry
Having a bit of insight into your problem from our email discussion, I think you will find that making the changes will be enough and your site will just pop out of the filter when the problems are resolved.
I may be wrong, it's a one way flow of information with Google on this so definitely make the request but expect anything up to the seven weeks. Though, even post panda when i guess they were getting hammered, one site I helped got responded to in around 4 weeks so... 3 is a good bet.
Cheers
Marcus

I recently filed a reconsideration request and got a response within a week. It was a standard form letter and appeared only in WMT (not in an email to me). In that particular case my reconsideration request was not approved. After I filed another request a few days later, it took about 3 weeks to receive the next response.
-
Actually I will correct my original response.
On Mar 22, I filed a reconsideration request. The site involved had received a manual penalty from Google which had previously been confirmed by Google in writing.
On April 2nd, I received a response from Google via WMT titled "We've processed your reconsideration request".
The response stated "We've now reviewed your site. When we review a site, we check to see if it is in violation of our Webmaster Guidelines. If we don't find any problems, we'll reconsider our indexing of your site."
Immediately upon receipt of that message, I was able to find the site had been added to Google's index.
-
Was that an acutal written response?
-
I have only filed one reconsideration request this year. It was a 3 week response time.

How many times will Google read a page?
Hello! Do you know if Google reads a page more than once? We want to include a very robust menu that has a lot of links, so we were thinking about coding a very simple page that loads first and immediately loading the other code that has all the links thinking that perhaps Google will only read the first version but won't read it the second time with all the links. Do you know if we will get penalized? I'm not sure if I got the idea across, let me know if I need to expand more. Thanks,

Google no longer highlighting keyword times in titles within rankings?
Anyone else seeing this? Or is it a test rather than full rollout?

Link Removal Request Sent to Google, Bad Pages Gone from Index But Still Appear in Webmaster Tools
| On June 14th the number of indexed pages for our website on Google Webmaster tools increased from 676 to 851 pages. Our ranking and traffic have taken a big hit since then. The increase in indexed pages is linked to a design upgrade of our website. The upgrade was made June 6th. No new URLS were added. A few forms were changed, the sidebar and header were redesigned. Also, Google Tag Manager was added to the site. My SEO provider, a reputable firm endorsed by MOZ, believes the extra 175 pages indexed by Google, pages that do not offer much content, may be causing the ranking decline. My developer submitted a page removal request to Google via Webmaster tools around June 20th. Now when a Google search is done for site:www.nyc-officespace-leader.com 851 results display. Would these extra pages cause a drop in ranking? My developer issued a link removal request for these pages around June 20th and the number in the Google search results appeared to drop to 451 for a few days, now it is back up to 851. In Google Webmaster Tools it is still listed as 851 pages. My ranking drop more and more everyday. At the end of displayed Google Search Results for site:www.nyc-officespace-leader.comvery strange URSL are displaying like:www.nyc-officespace-leader.com/wp-content/plugins/... If we can get rid of these issues should ranking return to what it was before?I suspect this is an issue with sitemaps and Robot text. Are there any firms or coders who specialize in this? My developer has really dropped the ball. Thanks everyone!! Alan |

Outreach to bloggers for product reviews. All at once or stretched over time?
We have identified about 150 bloggers in our niche worldwide and want to send them a free product sample for a review on their blog. From former similar promotion we know that actually the vast majority will accept. Would you send the proposal at once to all bloggers or just contact lets say 5 per week over 6 months? Do you think it is better to vary the products to be reviewed instead of sending all the exact same product model? Not sure how bloggers will like it if they notice that we made the same proposal to every blogger and that on all blogs in our niche about the same time suddenly reviews of same products appear? Any thoughts?

Best time to choose a canonical URL & 301 redirect
I have taken on the task of getting a fairly huge eCommerce site more SEO friendly & have just realized that no URL has been chosen as our preferred domain. Should we designate a preferred domain now or wait until after the first of the year since we are hitting our busy period right now?

Google Recon Request 4 Failed - This is crazy. HELP!
We run a niche website selling sunglasses at www.aluminumeyewear.com. I've been trying to resolve a 'Failed Quality Guidelines' message since May. My 4th recon request has just failed and I've exhausted all changes that I believe I need to make. I rely on this site to pay my bills etc so obviously I really need to get this resolved. I would be grateful if someone from Google could actually point out whats wrong instead of an unhelpful auto response.Steps taken.1. Rewrote content as it was a bit thin. Recon failed.2. Removed old products that couldn't be reached from every page. Recon failed.3. Submitted back link audit and added 'sitemap' link to footer. Recon Failed.4. Removed 40+ old urls that existed from old Yahoo! store (didn't realize they still existed). Recon failed.I felt sure #4 would resolve the issue so feeling pretty low right now that it didn't. That being said doing a site:aluminumeyewear.com it looks like I missed one of them which was http://www.aluminumeyewear.com/demora/black/, however it just returns a 404 which would seem harsh to penalize me for.The only other pages that I can think of are some dynamic pages that the store uses to create reviews such as:www.aluminumeyewear.com/product-reviews-add.aspx?product=2www.aluminumeyewear.com/resize.aspxI'm pretty sure that the reviews page is blocked via robots txt. The resize.aspx is a blank page with javascript as its needed by the PowerReviews Express system to work, and many many merchants use that platform so it would be hard to think its that. Thanks in advance.
