How Many Backlinks Per Day
-
I am starting to do some manual back-linking for a medium competition word with high traffic. I plan to start back linking with like niche blogs with non spam comments, like niche directories, like niche forums, and guest blogging.
My domain is over 3 years old and ranks for multiple keywords, but I'm going to concentrate specifically on this keyword, but need to know how many links to back-link a day. Again none of these will be spam, but will be of real quality.
I was thinking 10-20 a day, but unsure.

I find that a 20% nofollow rate is good also. You can also try linking in those blog posts to authority sites, such as wikipedia and other .edu sites so that you are not the only page being linked to. It also helps to provide valueable sources that way to the readers.

Thanks for you comments. I currently blog post about once a week for for various blogs and websites. I mix in 9 do follow and usually 1-2 no follow to make it look organic. I appreciate your response!

Nathan- There is no right answer for this. All I can do is repeat the usual advice. It's quality, not quantity. Vary your anchor text.
Attempt to build some links that also benefit users. Instead of commenting, contact the niche blogs and ask if you can write a guest post. This will result in a followed link that adds value to the web instead of a nofollowed link buried in the comment section. Also, this will result in your product/brand being the focus of the site's readers.
Best of luck.

30% loss organic clicks in last 30 days
Hey all, I am a bit stumped here so looking for some insight. Our site was starting to rank well for many keywords, and we were getting roughly 25k visitors organically per month. Now we are down 30% over the last thirty days, and I am trying to figure out why. This downtrend started I would say about mid August. 1. No messages in webmaster tools.

2. Our linking building is very good, no spammy links, never black hat. We did have someone attempt negative SEO on us back in July. We disavowed those links as soon as we saw them. Basically all our links come from link baiting to quality content. Many .edu links
3. Content is good and fresh, always adding new stuff to the site. When I look in webmaster tools and look at my search queries for last thirty days, our impressions are down dramatically, but the change in average position is increasing. Our top 25 keywords we saw 15 rise in average position, 5 fall, and 5 unchanged. This makes me think there is just a reduction in the amount of people searching for what we offer, though maybe that's wishful thinking? Is there a way to see search volume this month vs last month? What should I be looking at here? Hoping to stop this downward trend ASAP.1 -
Backlinks from archived content? SEO penalty?
I'm curious, if I go to webmasters and suggest a change to an article in their archives (convincing them that the new link offers more value to their readers), how would Google look at that? It seems to me that if a two-year-old article all of a sudden gets a new link, it might look fishy, and might even bring penalties with it. Thoughts?

Which is More Powerful? Content or Backlinks: Ecommerce Sales
Hello, Which do you guys think would bring in more sales: doubling the content across all category pages and top 30 products, or getting 10% more good unique root domain backlinks from broken link building? 350 products in total 50 main categories 150 subcategories. Product page content would be frequently asked questions for the product and would be added by the site owner who is an expert. Thanks.

Where do I get backlinks?
Three months ago I made the "foolish" decision to launch an insurance quote website (didn't think of looking into how competitive insurance websites were before investing my time, money and energy). Due to budget costs, I have been forced to learn about SEO. At this point I would say I am at the Peon level. lol. Today I signed up for SEOmoz and have found that my competitors have TENS OF THOUSANDS of backlinks. To logical people, this would be enough to throw in the towel. Not me. I'm stupid. I have spent many many hours over the last few months creating backlinks (at least I thought I was). However, I want to start targeting the sites that my competitors are using because they are getting anchor texts. How do I do this? How do websites create so many back links? Some of my competitors have 50,000 backlinks! I know this won't be done overnight. I appreciate all the help the SEOmoz community can offer a Peon like myself. One day I promise to pay it forward.
