How do you guys/gals define a 'row?'
-
I have a question about calls to the API and how these are measured. I noticed that the URL Metrics calls allow a batch of multiple URLs.
We're in a position where we need link data for multiple websites; can we request a single row of data with link information for multiple URLs, or do we need to request a unique row for each URL?

Hi Stephen,
If you imported the information you received from a request to our API into a spreadsheet, you would have rows of information. The number of rows depends on the request you make. If you ask for 200 links from our Top Back Links API, then you’ll get 200 rows of information about backlinks. If you submit a single URL to our Page Metrics API, then you’ll get one row of information back from the API. That row of information would include page metrics about the URL. If you do a batch request to the Page Metrics API and submit 5,000 URLs, then you’ll receive 5,000 rows of information about the URLs you submitted. The number of rows you get back from your request depends on which API you’re using and the amount of information you ask for in your request. You only pay for rows of information you actually receive.
Thanks,
Joel.

A competitor's SEO firm is building spammy links to my website.
A competitor's SEO firm is building spammy links to my website. I know the disavow link process, but even this can be time consuming. Is there a better way to protect my website? Any and all ideas appreciated.... Are there any cool Moz tools that can help me manage this assault? Sorry, just a follow up from me... It appears that many of the spammy links (referrals) I see in Google Analytics are not present in Google WebMaster Tools. Does this mean that the spammy ones that I'm concerned about have already been discounted by Google, or are the spammy links no-follow? Any input on this would also be appreciated.

How To Ques. Getting ranked on page one for a keyword when you compete with bigger websites/companies/stores
Can David Beat Goliath. I work with small businesses with top products that are up against big brands and their online presence. If I am working with them to create content that meets the needs of all their stakeholders/customers/prospects to generate revenue I wonder if keyword targeting with content can really pay off to get them page one, #1 position ranking. So I ask you this question? How do you create a story for a small online store that can get ranked on page one for a keyword when you compete with bigger websites (or sites with higher domain authority)? I don't need all the basics, I'm just looking for a key insight or tip that you have found or heard is working for a David to beat a Goliath (and hold their position rank once they get highly ranked). We are up against sites - for viable keywords -who have higher domain authority and in some cases more content or link backs. Also, I've notice in situations when I do get to page one and I'm in position 7 MOZ analytics show low to no traffic coming from it? Yikes, what do I do to improve that? These are top keywords.

OK I'll try again.... Linking root domains and external links
I'm new to the crawl test tool, I think I know what is meant by external links and linking root domains but I need to check. If there are 500 external links and 50 linking root domains does that suggest the essentially those 500 links are coming from 50 root domains? If yes, then what would 1000 linking root domains and 100 links mean? Or am I completely wrong in my assumptions and if so, can somebody point me in the right direction? Thank you.

Duplicate page content on / and index.php
Hi I am new to SEOmoz and in the crawl diagnostics for one of my clients it came back duplicate content on the homepage www.myclient.co.uk and on the www.myclient.co.uk/index.php which is obviously the same page. I understand that the key is to do a 301 redirect from the index to /, however how will I know that this will not just create an ever ending loop on the server? From your experience how is the best way to tackle this crawl error? Also is there a specific question that I need to ask the server?

Hey from a New guy to SEO
Hi everybody!!! Hope everybody is dandy. Have spent a long time looking into SEOmoz and decided to just take the plunge and see what happens. Im quite new to the world of SEO but I really want to get good at it. Hoping Moz and this community will aid with this! Currently in the process of reading the SEO beginners guide and the SEOmoz user guide! The two sites that I am currently working on are: 1. www.advanced-incar.co.uk 2. www.advanced-incarcamerasystems.com The first site seems to have crawled well and have entered my competitors and am getting some info back (looks like I have a lot of work to do judging by the errors D'oh) In the world of Google what is the best way to ensure you have authority on certain terms. For instance if I search advanced-incar we are top and we have all our sitelinks underneath etc etc, but when I search advanced incar we are second and as such we don't display sitelinks. Any ideas? The second site was built using 1&1 and gives us a good little site for what we need. I have found out through research the most popular keywords are in car camera & in car cameras. Currently Im using Adwords to get us sponsored hits which is getting us some nice traffic but costing a bit. Those are the two main keywords i want this site to really hit home with. Any advice? Also on this site, when I go to SEOmoz and select Link Analysis I get no info. It just shows 0 or 0.0 wheras my competitor sites all have values against them. Is something wrong with my site or what im doing? (Have added an example screenshot) I appreciate its a long ended question but would really appreciate some help. Hoping that the guides will help me understand all this linkjuice stuff etc as well! Thanks guys, really appreciative of any info you can provide. Using the 'Organic Traffic Data ' feature.
I don't have access to the clients Google Analytics Password. Can you set it up without being redirected to Google webmasters? Is there a way to insert a simple code into the website and then have SEOmoz double check the code? Thanks so much

OSE Social Signals Affect PA/DA?
I've looked through the Open Site Explorer documentation and can't find the answer so am posting here... I noticed a web page I work on showing a PA 30 but OSE is showing 0 links from 0 root domains. It is a page that has no internal links to it and no external links to it (that I know of) but has stumbles, tweets, and Diggs. Are these social factors the reason it has a PA of more than 0 or 1? If so, is there a link to documentation that shows how OSE handles social signals? Thanks, Evan

Anyway to Verify MozRank & MozTrust Scores w/alternate method?
Hey everyone, I am wondering if there is a way to confirm or reinforce what am i seeing on a webpage using the Moz Toolbar? When I go to this website here: abilogic.com they have a high page/domain trust rank. However, when I filter down to the niche category I would be interested in submitting too abilogic.com/dir/Home/Gardens/ - Then everything, including PageRank, drops to zero. The question I have, is I am not sure if this is really just a poorly constructed and untrustworthy page as identified in the Moz Toolbar. Or is it possible that these page categories have recently been redeveloped or something like that, and that's why the deeper pages are not showing any benefits? Thanks for any help or tips!
