International Site Links In Footer
-
We have several international sites and we have them linked in the footer of our main .com site . Should we add "nofollow" to these links? Our concern is that Google could see these sites as a network?
-
We did consider scrapping the .com site however it does rank really well for a lot of our key terms especially in the UK. So we really just use this as a landing page which seems to work well for now.
Thanks for the feedback guys its much appreciated

I've just taken a look at the optical express site, assuming this is the site you're referring to.
If if it was my client I'd remove the nofollows from the flags in the footer. I don't see any reason why you'd be penalised for linking together a set of multinational domains for a brand, and removing the nofollows will help the link juice flow around the sites.
-
On the .com site we have all the links going to the international pages as follow.
On the various international sites we have links in the footer going pointing to the other sites in each country is it also ok to have these as follow?
Or could the interlinking of the sites cause a problem?
Would it be better for us to do what IKEA have done http://www.ikea.com/ and just have one way links coming from the .com to the all the sites and remove the footer links on the other sites which link to each other?
-
I agree with Matt here. You've got a legitimate relationship with these sites, and the presence of these links will be a benefit to your visitors who may want to other countries you serve.
You may even find it beneficial to raise the profile of these other sites as showing you have a global presence may increase confidence/trust in your brand. (As with all such things you'd want to do some testing to make sure as it'll depend on your audience).
Be careful creating international gateway pages. Done badly they can lead to all kinds of problems...

I wouldn't nofollow these links personally, that isn't what the nofollow tag was designed for.
The nofollow tag would stop google from passing link juice through the links, but it wouldn't stop google actually following the links and figuring out the sites are connected.
If you want users to see you have international sites (which makes complete sense), include the links. But, why not make them more prominent with a country selection page similar to ikea.com or apple.com? Don't be afraid of linking together a legitimate network of sites that sit under a single brand.

Does anyone know the linking of hashtags on Wix sites does it negatively or postively impact SEO. It is coming up as an error in site crawls 'Pages with 404 errors' Anyone got any experience please?
Does anyone know the linking of hashtags on Wix sites does it negatively or positively impact SEO. It is coming up as an error in site crawls 'Pages with 404 errors' Anyone got any experience please? For example at the bottom of this blog post https://www.poppyandperle.com/post/face-painting-a-global-language the hashtags are linked, but they don't go to a page, they go to search results of all other blogs using that hashtag. Seems a bit of a strange approach to me.

Trying to find all internal links to a specific page (without index)
Hi guys -- Still waiting on Moz to index a page of mine. We launched a new site over two months ago. In the meantime, I really just need a list of internal links to a specific page because I want to change its URL. Does anybody know how to find that list (of internal links to 1 of my pages) without the Moz index? I appreciate the help!

Do web design footer links of websites you build have value?
Hi everyone. I am trying to build up DA for my site and create linking opportunities with my clients sites but I am not seeing any link value. I just did a redesign with another firm and we built out www.denbow.com . We have links to our sites in the footer but for some reason it's not being indexed. Can someone help me understand if it is good to put built by a href link in the footer? I've built almost 12 sites in my first 1.5 years of being in business for myself and I thought the links would pass some sort of value. Thanks in advance for the help and education. Regards, Noob Gary

How to set up internal linking with subcategories?
I'm building a new website and am setting up internal link structure with subcategories and hoping to do so with best Seo practices in mind. When linking to a subcategory's main page, would I make the internal link www.xxx.com/fishing/ or www.xxx.com/fishing/index.html or does it matter? I'm just trying to avoid duplicate content I guess, if Google saw each page as a separate page. Any other cautions when using subdirectories in my navigation?

Why are these internal pages not showing any internal links?
If you look at Author profile pages like this one, http://experts.allbusiness.com/author/denise-oberry (THE top contributor on the site with over 82 posts under her belt), or any Author profile page, they show zero internal links or Page Authority. The same goes for most posts for each author on the site. Author pages should show internal links from every post the author has on the site. And specific posts should also have internal links from categories, etc. Yet they show zero. The only posts that show internal links and PA are ones that were either syndicated to the root domain's homepage, or syndicated to Fox Small Business. ZERO internal links. Does anyone know why this is? The root domain does not act this way with Author pages and posts. And I see nothing blocking links or indexing via the robots.txt file or page level nofollow tags. A real head scratcher for this SEO nerd, that I'm sure someone here will have a really simple answer to.

How can I block incoming links from a bad web site ?
Hello all, We got a new client recently who had a warning from Google Webmasters tools for manual soft penalty. I did a lot of search and I found out one particular site that sounds roughly 100k links to one page and has been potentialy a high risk site. I wish to block those links from coming in to my site but their webmaster is nowhere to be seen and I do not want to use the disavow tool. Is there a way I can use code to our htaccess file or any other method? Would appreciate anyone's immediate response. Kind Regards

Footer Links with same anchor text on all pages
We have different websites targeted at the different services our company provides. (e.g. For our document storage services, we have www.ukdocumentstorage.com. For document management, we have www.document-management-solutions.co.uk). If we take the storage site for example, every single page has a link in the footer to our document management site, with the anchor text 'Cleardata Document Management' SEOMoz is telling me that these are seen as external links (as they are on a different URL's), and I'm just clarifying that would this be a major possible factor in the website not ranking highly? How should I rectify this issue?
