While doing directory submission, We should submit unique description and title ?
-
Hello Moz Members,
I just want to clarify that, We do directory submission in 50 of sites.
For Example:
I have to target 10 keyword's, and i am doing directory submission. I have 10 Unique titles and 10 unique description. I just need to submit these 10 keywords in 50 directory's
10 keywords * 50 directory = 500 submission.
I will just submit the same 10 Unique titles and 10 unique description to these 500 directory. So it wont be count as duplicate content and duplicate title in every directory.
Or
Every time i do directory submission i have to submit unique description and unique title.
Please help me with these question, I am really confused how shall i proceed to directory submission. If any one have fast approval directory sites list then please share the information with me.
Regards & Thanks,
Chhatarpal Singh

_Again I do not like the approach. It seems like you are in a hurry to get as many links from different websites as quickly as possible. Do not treat link building that way. Take it as an attempt to gain exposure and believe me it is time consuming. For say, to get your website approved by Dmoz.org, you might have to wait for 6 to 8 months on an average. Moreover, instant approved directories are not that great as spammers mostly troll there. So, hold the horse. Prepare a list of niche and quality directories and then approach them. _

As long as the directory is not spammy and have a decent authority, the link from it wouldn't hurt. However, majority of the directories on the web are usually spammy; therefore, I suggest not doing it and try other backlinking strategies to earn your backlinks.
Furthermore, if you content is unique, then submitting to directories would cause duplicate content. Overall, provide unique contents and titles if you are really planning to do directory submission.

I disagree about directory submissions. They can be great, but don't submit to just any directory. A great resource for good directories, many free, is info.vilesilencer.com. If you are just planning to spam a bunch of sites to directories, be prepared to only see your links accepted on the lowest quality directories. If you are writing a thoughtful title and description for a high quality resource on the web, you'll have the better directories accept your resource. Some directories charge for the review process, and people like Matt Cutts have said this is perfectly fine so long as there is a high level of editorial policy.

Hi,
You should not do directory submission at all due to the low authority links it passes on. However, if you do decide to do directory submission, I would suggest having evertyhing unique or close to unique meaning different title, different description, different content, and etc.
As long as you have a chunk of similar content, Search Engines will pick it up as duplicate content.
Hope this helps a bit.

How are 279 Characters Displaying in a Meta Description?
I was looking at some SERPs, and I saw one of our competitors had 279 characters displaying in their meta-description. Everyone else (including the people ranking higher than this person) were displaying the usual number. How is that possible? I didn't think google every displayed that much. Screenshot attached. Is having an identical title, h1 and url considered "over optimization"? Is it better to vary?
To get some new pages out without over-thinking things, I decided to line up the title tag, h1 tag and URLs of my pages exactly. They are dynamically generated based on the content the user is viewing (internal search results pages) They're not ranking very well at the moment, but there are a number of factors that are likely to blame. But, in particular, does anyone know if varying the text in these elements tends to perform better vs. having them all identical? Has there been any information from Google about this? Most if not all of the "over optimization" content I have seen online pertains to backlinks, not on-page content. It's easy to say, "test it!" And of course, that's just what I'm planning to do. But I thought I would leverage the combined knowledge of this forum to see what information I could obtain first, so I can do some informed testing, as tests can take a while to see results. Thanks 🙂

Can I have the same item description on Amazon, eBay and my website?
Hi guys, After looking on the Internet and reading the Learn SEO section on this site, I've realised that Google doesn't like duplicate content and penalises it, whether that's duplication on your own site or of another site's content. We are an online retailer currently selling on different platforms including Amazon, eBay and our own ecommerce webstore. Is it okay to have the same item description (i.e. main page copy) on each of these sites, or will our search rankings get negatively impacted? Thank you in advance, I have researched on this issue also but I couldn't find a concrete answer. Tanay

Title tag consistency. Is it worth it?
I operate a stain removal website and was wondering how consistent it was worth being from title tag to title tag. To give you an example, here is a group of keyword phrases that I might wish to target: "getting out pet stains with vinegar" "how do I remove water stains from wood" "removing chocolate stains" Does the benefit to be gained (whatever that might be) from making these consistently of the form "how to remove X from Y, " or "how to remove X" outweigh simply giving articles titles based on the exact phrases above? I heard from someone that Google is getting more proficient at spotting "clumsy" title tags, although I'm not sure if any of the above examples would fall into that category, and was thinking that I should then probably proceed on the basis of directly titling articles based on the exact keywords I am uncovering... Any advice much appreciated.

Can anyone explain these changes to our Titles in the SERPS?
Hi there, We've been doing well in the SERPS over the past few weeks. Our previous meta title was displayed as: "Hunter Original Tall - Buy Original Tall Online Here" However, recently we've seen the title in the SERP switch over to: "Hunter Original Tall - Cloggs.co.uk" This has occurred on several of our product pages which display a particular style of a certain brand. So for example: "Ugg Bailey Button - Cloggs.co.uk" Has anyone else experienced these changes or can explain why this may have happened?
