HTC access 301 redirect rules regarding pagination and striped category base (wp)
-
I am an admin of a wordpress.org blog and I used to use "Yoast All in one SEO" plugin. While I was using this plugin it stripped the category base from my blog post URL's.
With yoast all in one seo: Site.com/topic/subtpoic/page/#
Without yoast all in one seo: Site.com/category/topic/subtopic/page/#Now, that I have switched to another plugin, I am trying to manage the page crawl errors which are tremendous somewhere around 1800, mostly due to pagination. Rather than redirecting each URL individually I would like to develop HTC access 301 redirects rules. However all instructions on how to create these HTC access 301 redirect rules are regarding the suffix rather than the category base. So my question is, can HTC access 301 redirects rules work to fix this problem? Including pagination? And if so, what would this particular HTC access 301 redirect look like? Especially regarding pagination? And do I really have to write a 301 redirect for each pagination page?

Did you have any luck using this plugin to correct your issue, Jennifer?

You could just try installing the No Category Base plugin to replace what the Yoast plugin was doing and see how much of your issue that corrects.
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-no-category-base/
If it's just the category base that disrupting your paginated pages as well, that will solve it.
Let us know if it works?
Paul
P.S. an .htaccess rule could be written to strip out the /category part of the URL, but the plugin handles it much more simply and has very low overhead.

Only 2 Inbound Links which are the Redirect 301 Links
Hello Everyone, We're having a serious Problem with the ranking of our website so we started testing the website in different Tools. Almost all of the tools say our website works great and in comparision to our competitors we win in almost every test – but we rank behind them. The only thing that makes me wonder is the fact that our website has only 2 Inbound links (Open Site Explorer) when the link source is set to only internal. And the only links shown are 2 links that come from the old http (we're using https) and redirect 301 to our https. No other links – in other tools we have around 80 internal links to our rmain https-webadress. Does anyone have an idea where that comes from? I'm afraid this might be our issue in ranking behind of lots of our competitors. Lokking forward to your ideas and suggestions.

Size of a term to make money off of ad based informational site
Hello, I am used to estimating how much money is possible to make out of ranking for Ecommerce terms. Higher price products have a lower conversion rate (cheap items are opposite) so you can look at the keyword size in keyword explorer and estimate pretty well (roughly). My question is, how many times bigger does an ad based (informational) keyword need to be to get similar profit? This is just an estimate. For example, does a term need to be 5? 10? times bigger on average (volume) as an informational keyword to make the same amount of profit (roughly of course)? I realize there are many factors here but you must have some way you think of it? Can you give me some general guidelines?

How do you distinguish competitor backlinks by categories?
Hi We are trying to produce an outreach list based on the competitor backlinks using SEOmoz link analysis tool (open site explorer). I have few questions related to this: 1. How many backlinks per competitor would be a reasonable starting point? And maybe suggest a strategy on how these outreach list can be managed over time? 2. Is there a way to distinguish what types the backlinks are? So for example, can we have list of backlinks that are categorised under online bloggers, traditional journalist or article/press release/directories? 3. Should we be more concerned about the Page authority or the Domain authority when creating this outreach list? I look forward to your answer, thank you.

Www, non www, 301 redirects, Google webmaster tools & SeomozPro
arg! Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated! This is in regards to sheffieldfurniture .com In October of 2011 I had our host set up a redirect for our site so all non www requests would be redirected to the www version and it works great (so it seems at least) Recently I signed up for SEOMOZPRO and when I started trying to track my organic results for various keywords I realized that Google has my site indexed in the non www format. Is this a problem? I’ve read you can tell google what your preferred domain is in Google Webmaster Tools, is that what I should be doing? Are there any negatives to doing that? I’m just confused as to why Google hasn’t noticed or acknowledged the redirect in 4 months. It makes me wonder if something isn’t working properly? I have since added a second SEOMOZPRO campaign with the non www version but I’m worried about having historical tracking issues if I then tell google to use the www version…
