Is it safe to submit the same article to multiple sites?
-
Hello, I am just getting into SEO and I need some guidance with article submissions.
I have read in many different places that submitting articles to other sites (EzineArticles, Digg, Etc.) is a great way to build links back to your site.
My question is, can I submit articles already posted on our site to these sites or is it best to write new articles?

Hello,
I have submitted an article on my Digital Marketing Company in Surat on various Free Article Submission sites. I received an email from Hubpages.com for duplicate content on my article, the link is here as under:
Please advise whether I can submit the same article to other sites? It will help to me.
Thanks in advance,
Nisha

Hi,
Please let me know if submitting the articles from a website on the other article submission sites is still harmful?

Sometimes you can create multiple articles from the same idea as SEO covers such a broad spectrum of areas. Content should be about having fun and seeing how much value you can add to your niche. It will amaze you how many details that relate to your business or project can turn into valuable pieces of content. And forget about blasting out your content, just worry about building relationships. If you are adding value to a community and are relevant then shares and links will grow naturally. Remember slow and steady wins the race..

Adding the same article to multiple websites is going to cause an issue with duplicate content, this is not good practise and will not help you with your efforts.
My advice is to write unique articles for maximum benefit. Make sure that your articles are unique and not written for the search engines. Make them useful to potential visitors, as this can attract people linking to your article. Which is what you really want.

Hi Scott
My advice is contrary to some of the other responses here.
Based upon my recent (post-Penguin) experience I advise you to AVOID ARTICLE SYNDICATION LIKE THE PLAGUE.
Before Penguin, article syndication (submitting an article with a backlink for wide distribution was really a great way to rise quickly in the SERPs for Google.
However, as part of their effort to rid the web of duplicate pages, there is now a heavy penalty for doing that.
The standard advice used to be, "publish article 1st on your own blog/site, make sure it is indexed, and then let 'er rip".
Today, that will get you to page 400 in Google SERP.
Cutt advise to only syndicate with care, if you can ensure a direct backlink to your original indexed post (which you cannot do once the post is "turned loose").
Stay away from article distribution.

Try to re-purpose your article. For example you can make an infographic out of your original article. Then you can make a Google+ submission. Then you can make a video slideshow out of this infographic and submit it to YouTube. Then you can create a poll or a survey at the end of your article and convert the answers you get into a new post on your website.
Better invest in your own website than in other people's sites.

Hi Scott,
Glad you getting into SEO.
Yes, you are correct that submitting articles to other sites is a great way to build links back to your site. HOWEVER, those are strategies and tactics people used probably 3 years ago. Google see that people are doing that instead of building quality/natural links, they rolled out Penguin and Panda to prevent people from doing that. By doing so, you are creating something called Duplicate content and that will either harm your website ranking or your website may not show up in the search results because the website where you submitted the article has better ranking than you. Therefore, they are showing the other website instead.
It is best to write new articles and post it in the blog under your website's domain. Such as blog.website.com or website.com/blog. This will give your website more benefits of freshness and more content to crawl and possibly backlinks and social signal for your blog/website. Thus increases your chance of appearing in SERP with more content and higher ranking due to backlinks to your website.
Hope this helps.

Buying High PR Sites
Is it possible to buy old sites that no longer have a site up that has a high PR? Can I just put up another site about anything I want and rank well for it? I see that my link profile (anchor text) will not support my on site SEO. However, could I link to another site and pass page rank with this tactic? Please discuss... Especially those doing this...

Open Site Explorer Changed?
I am getting this at the bottom of Open Site Explorer. I have never seen this message before. "Why does my number of inbounds links listed not match my total links count? The listed number may be slightly different because we only show 25 links per domain (so that you see a variety). Additionally you have 18 links from no-indexed pages. Unfortunately, we can't get info for those links." Did SEOMoz change something? If I look at a site, SEOMOZ's OSE doesn't show me all the links it can find anymore? It only shows 25 max???

Business.com - Who's stil submitting to it, and why?
If yes, is it because you believe it is still worth the cost for the link from this particular directory due to the prohibitive costs which deter low quality sites, it's review process, the high DA, or other? If you no longer submit to it, why?

Press Release Sites for Backlinks
OK, I read a previous thread about whether people found press release sites useful (specifically I am considering a reputable pay for release service). I understand the knock on press releases in this digital age (namely that no one reads them and arguably never did . . . ), but I was interested in moving the discussion in a different direction . . . Do press releases services really help a sites performance based on increased backlinking? Is there a SEO benefit to PR services? My company is a local print company. I've done quite a bit of research on my local competitors, and specifically for a couple products we would like to dominate. The good news is that it looks like the hurdle would not be terribly high to really take over the web presence with a well planned and executed website/SEO campaign. My inclination is that for a relatively small company like mine (dealing with relatively small competitors) it WOULD benefit me to pay for the sheer number of backlinks a PR program would generate. The monthly cost is frankly about the same as the cost of this site, which OF COURSE I get value from (hey moderator, how about a couple extra MOZ points for that one!) Specifically, I am looking at this for myself, but feel free to expand the question to the broader topic.

Is it a bad idea to build unique sites to build credibility for your main site?
It is hard to sum up the question in one line, but basically my company has bought several descriptive domains that we would like to build out into microsites that link back to our main site. For example...say we are a florist. Our main site talks about all the different kinds of flowers we have and the work we do. So the idea is to buy weddingflowersdallas.com (example only...) and have a mini site that has the same look and feel as our main site, but has unique content that talks solely about our wedding flower business and has a few links back to our main site. 1. Is this a no no from a google perspective? 2. Is this a good strategy in general? Thanks, David
