href="#" and href="javascript.void()" links. Is there a difference SEO wise?

I am currently working a site re-design and we are looking at if href="#" and href="javascript.void()" have an impact on the site? We were initially looking at getting the links per page down but I am thinking that rel=nofollow is the best method for this. Anyone had any experience with this? Thanks in advanced

All links consume link juice even nofollow links.
What happens to the link juice is the question, does href="#" just flow back to the same page, first thoughts are yes, but then if that is the case, you would be able to manipulate how much link juice flows out of other links but adding more. so I think they may waste link juice. JavaScript links use link juice and there is no guarantee that Google is able to pass that link juice on.A lot of CMS use this type of links href="#" on a A tag then use the A tag for some other reason, such as a button to fire JavaScript. I believe that if you want a button use a button, if you want a JavaScript link then attach the event to a SPAN or DIV, use A tags only for real links and be sure you know what is happening to your link juice.

Thanks for the response, the amount of links really varies per page but could be around 170 in some cases and some of these links are external as well as internal. The site itself has plenty of content so it isn't a case of us trying to cheat any sort of Google guideline but to try and keep number of page links down.
Basically I wanted to know if we would be hurt by using javascript link instead of the usual href="#"

How many links are on the page?
If the links are internal and there to help the users navigate then why not leave them as do follow? If there are so many links that you're concerned, it might be worth considering that there too many links, not just as far a Google is concerned but also form the users perpective.
Remember, using nofollow top sculpt Page Rank is against G's guidelines.

Hello, I was wondering if hosting on shared, versus VPS, versus dedicated ... matter at all in terms of the rankings of Web sites ... given that all other factors would be exactly equal. I know this is a big question with many variables, but mainly I am wondering if, for example, it is more the risk of resource usage which may take a site down if too much traffic and therefore make it un-crawlable if it happens at the moment that a bot is trying to index the site (factoring out the UX of a downed site). Do I lose link juice if I have a https site and someone links to me using http instead?
We have recently launched a https site which is getting some organic links some of which are using https and some are using http. Am I losing link juice on the ones linked using http even though I am redirecting or does Google view them the same way? As most people still use http naturally will it look strange to google if I contact anyone who has given us a link and ask them to change to https?

Sitelinks Search Box impact for SEO
I am wondering how the relatively new sitelinks search box impacts the SEO rankings for a specific site or keyword combination - do you guys have any experience or bechmarks on this? Obviously it should help on getting more real estate on the SERP page (due to adding the search box), but do you also get extra goodwill and improved SERP position from adding it? Also, is the impact different on different type of terms, let's say single brand or category term such as "Bestbuy" (or "coupon") or a combination term "Bestbuy Apple" (or "Dixons coupon")? Does IP Blacklist cause SEO issues?
Hi, Our IP was recently blacklisted - we had a malicious script sending out bulk mail in a Joomla installation. Does it hurt our SEO if we have a domain hosted on that IP? Any solid evidence? Thanks.

Does anyone have any suggestions on removing spammy links?
I have some clients that recently got hit by "Penguin" they have several less than desireable backlinks that could be the issue? Does anyone have any suggestions on getting these removed? What are the odds that a webmaster on these spammy sites are going to remove them, and is it worth the time and effort?
