I keep getting Authentication Failed on the API
-
I have the credentials in the URL correctly but it will continue to fail authentication. I will not post them obviously but is there a problem with the API currently? I tried creating new credentials Also I have used this before so I am sure it is not a problem with the credentials.
I somehow managed to get Chrome to show the data. Firefox will not and the code i have written also return authentication failed. This is a bug on your end. Please fix it ASAP.

Hey Carmelo,
It looks like you are encountering a bit of a different issue. It sounds like you are receiving the error when you try to connect with Google Analytics rather than when you try to make an API call. I'm really sorry about that.
Google is currently having some authentication issues on their end. The issue seems to be clearing up and we are monitoring the issue as it resolved. If you are still encountering the issue, please contact our Help Team here: http://moz.com/help/contact for further assistance.

Hi having same issue, just signed up for chessmazeinternational and getting same error back from analytics ?
Remote-authentication.failure
can you assist?

Colum,
You should not be regenerating your secret key so often, it's not doing you any favors and is just making it more difficult to help you.
The issue you are having is with how you are generating your expires and signature. I tested the call you posted in the forum that was giving you a 401 and the signature and expires did not line up. I'm not going to put your information here for your privacy, but the problem is definitely with your code and not with your API key or the API itself.
I hope that makes sense.
Thanks,
Joel. -
I tried the sample code, worked, tried mine, broke, changed back to sample code, broke. I also generated a new key (ill try that in 30 minutes) in case it was just not updating in the DB, in terms of waiting 30 minutes, I waited for 48 hours and still did not work.

Hey Colum,
That forum you are looking at is a bit old and I believe we have resolved the authentication issue, so it isn't an overarching problem. I also was able to grab the sample code on your account and get data back when I ran the code in my browser, so I would recommend trying to run a call again. If you regenerated your credential and still received the error, it may be that the new credentials hadn't updated yet in our database, since it can take up to 30 minutes for the database to recognize the new credentials.
I would suggest trying both the sample code on your account and a regular call to see if either are still giving you the error message. If you are no longer getting the error message on the sample call, but you are still getting it on the other call, it may be a formatting issue. I'm definitely seeing data for the sample call now, so it shouldn't be any issue with the actual credentials.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you are still seeing any issues.

Did not know that was there. there seems to be others with the same problem so definitely a bug: https://seomoz.zendesk.com/entries/21886401-Another-401-Unauthorized

Good morning!
While I don't know the answer, maybe I can help! Have you tried posing this over at the API Forum? https://seomoz.zendesk.com/categories/6328-SEOmoz-APIs-and-Extras. That is usually the best place for API issues and questions. If you leave this question open too, we can go at this from two angles.

Competitor getting External Links from search.aol.com
Recently, I noticed that one of the competitors I track within my Moz campaign received about 12 new inbound links. As a result, there DA jumped about 10 points. I reviewed these new external links and was surprised to see that they are all "search.aol.com/aol/search?query= ..." with Link Anchor Text that is good for the industry we compete in. Can anyone tell me why these are being counted as "Inbound Links". It just doesn't seem right. Is this some sort of black hat seo tactic?

MOZ Versus HUBSPOT??? If We Discontinue MOZ Subscription and Get HUBSPOT, Anything Lost?
How does Hubspot compare with MOZ? Doe it provide similar features or is the functionality very different? Is Hubspot complementary to MOZ or could it be used as a substitute? If we stopped our MOZ subscription and subscribed to Hubspot would we lose anything? Thanks, Alan

Mozscape API Problem With Credentials
Yello everyone 🙂 Yesterday I generated Access ID and Secret Key to try the API, but it didn't work. It's said that it might need 5 minutes, so I gave it something like 8 hours but it still didn't work afterwards. I used the PHP sample and I checked it with the Sample Expires value and it produces the same Signature parameter as in the Sample Valid API Signature, so the PHP code sample and the Sample Valid API Signature are in sync. In case you wonder - yes I changed the PHP sample by adding the valid strings for $accessID and $secretKey - I'm a long time programmer and I know what I'm doing with it. I tried also the example URL from Sample Valid API Signature couple of times, refreshing each time to get new Expire parameter, but it's not working too. Both the PHP sample and the Sample Valid API Signature are giving me this: **{ "status" : "401", "error_message" : "Your authentication failed. Check your authentication details and try again. For more information on signed authentication, see: http://apiwiki.seomoz.org/w/page/29574176/SignedAuthentication" }** I am new here and if there is another place to look for support please just point it out and excuse me for wasting your time - I just couldn't see it and I really tried. Adding new categories to my website and getting them ranked
Hi, I currently run a website and have added a couple of new categories lately. The website is Planes Trains Automobiles Co UK. For example I want to add "Planes for sale" as a new category. What is the best way to go about this? Will each aircraft added add content therefore ranking? I don't want to approach an SEO company yet as the service would be free for the time being? Thanks

Is there a way to get the domain authority of a subdomain?
For example, www.storage-mart.com and us.storage-mart.com both show the same DA in OSE. I believe it's the DA of the root domain. How can I compare the DA of the 'www' and 'us' subdomains?

How do I get a MozRank?
Hi all, Hoping that one of you Guru's might be able to shed a little light for me please. we launched the online arm of our gold bullion business on the 21st of February and I signed up for an account here on the 23rd of Feb. I don't have a MozRank for my site yet and I'd love to get one. The mozbar that I installed shows o linkes from 0 root domains etc. but google webmaster can see links that are inbound to my site. My questions are: Do I have to wait the 45-60 days that I believe it might take SEOmoz to give me a rank- or is there a process that I manually kick off? Is there anything other than google webmaster that I should be looking at to try and make sure that I am on the right track; I'd hate to go 45-60 days in the wrong direction before realising there is an issue. thanks in advance, YGF

How can I reduce the number of links on a page and keep the site easy to navigate?
The SEOmoz Site Crawl indicates that we have too many on page links on over 9,970 pages. This is an ecommerce site with a large number of categories. I have a couple of questions regarding this issue: How important is the "too many on page links" factor to SEO? What are some methods of reducing the number of links when there are a large number of categories? We have main categories with dropdown menus currently and have found that they are used to browse and shop the store.
