what is relation between domain age and domain authority? Old registered domain help for domain authority higher or not? if so, but i am still in confused, http://www.green-lotus-trekking.com/ this is too old domain but authority is only 33?

simple as everyone else has stated, there is no relationship.

The day a website goes live and can start being indexed, having content added, gaining links etc will start improving the DA, not the day it was purchased.

But older website's can also have a lot of bad links pointing to them from previous poor agencies / in-house staff, building bad links so in theory old domains could rank lower by previous black hat techniques to improve rankings.

I don't believe domain age is directly factored into DA at all. Of course, it's not uncommon for older sites to have more links, more substantive content, etc., but that's purely a correlation. If you registered a domain 5 years ago and just launched the site yesterday with one page and no links, that site will still have no authority.

            agsin,

You might think of it like this:   I've been a member of Moz since 2006,  giving me one of the most aged profiles here in this forum, but for most of that time, I did not participate on the site, so my profile had like 10 or 20 points.  In other words, up until the time I began participating, I had an old profile but I had no authority.  The age doesn't really count for much--it's the engagement (points) that counts and which helps to adds authority.

Likewise, if your domain was registered back in 2006 but was not used until 2011, it would accrue age but not authority.  Once the domain begins actively playing a role on the web and Google can measure that other domains and users are interacting with it, it may begin accruing authority.

              Hi agsIn,

Domain authority has a ton of other factors beyond just domain age. Rand Fishkin from Moz actually did a great video on it, but for some reason, the videos aren't accessible right now, maybe someone from Moz can check on them? It'll be great to take a look at those videos again.

              http://moz.com/blog/whiteboard-friday-domain-authority-page-authority-metrics

Also, I took a look at the site you mentioned, and though it was registered back in 1996 (which is really old), its backlink profile isn't fantastic and includes quite a few backlinks from link exchanges and pay-for-links directories. I think it would be a good idea to take a look at this infographic: http://searchengineland.com/seotable/

I use it as a constant reference point for optimizing a site and it was great for helping me learn more about optimizing sites in general too.

              Hope this helps!

                Hi,

Domain age can have an impact on Domain Authority.

However, it is generally considered to be fairly minimal and there are plenty of other elements that will impact domain authority on a much larger scale.

Take a look at the following resources on Moz for more information.

                Search Engine Ranking Factors

                Domain Authority

                Page Authority

Let me know if you have any other questions.

                Thanks

Domain still not being found in search

Hi guys, I've been handed a client who needs some seo work. I've tweaked one of their pages to focus on a chosen keywords about 4 months back but still the site is not even visible using the new Domain Analysis tool from moz and it still won't rank at all for the keywords. Am I missing something here? Is there something blocking the SERP from listing the website? I've ran a site: search on Google and it returns 283 results on the website. It's puzzling me as there clearly is something stopping it from being ranked. The domain name in question is: https://cloud9inecommunications.co.uk Thanks in advance.

Why my Domain Authority (DA) is Decreased from 21 to 19?

Hello, I would like to know how the changes in domain authority is counted by MOZ? Domain Authority for my this domain http://www.grandcrayon.ca/ was 21 and it is decreased to 19 in last week. I have checked the moz report and it shows DA as 19. We already have grandcrayon.ca and we recently redirected our .com domain (http://www.grandcrayon.com also to .ca so all the back links of .com are now showing in webmaster for .ca. So i would like to know the reason behind decrement in DA and is there any connection with redirection of .com domain? How can i increase DA for my website?

                  Comparing Domain Authority Scores

Since your scale (like PageRank) is a logarithmic scale, it makes it hard to judge the distance between 2 scores.  Can you give me a rule of thumb.  For PageRank,  each jump is an exponential jump - so that a PR6 is perhaps 10 times stronger than a PR5. What is the log base that SEOMoz uses.   Should I assume that a 60 is 10 times stronger than a 50? This is important when it comes to measuring progress because growth is going to get more difficult as you move up the scale and I need to communicate the distance between our current Authority score and our goal. Thank You!

What is the logarithmic scale used for domain authority?

I want to quantify how much better a score of 80 is compared to 60. Or 60 compared to 30 etc.... What is the logarithm base? Thanks, Rik

In alt tag of a image can we use #hashtag or domain.com ? Is that good SEO or not allowed ?

Some of the Google Search shows a title has a hashtag of an article, which contain keyword and while tweeting them, the title which has a hashtag automatically very good used for getting traffic to the blog. And other one, can we use the hash tag inside the alt attribute ? Or our domain name with .com in it. Like Google.com or #Google ?

Domain / Page Authority - logarithmic

SEOmoz says their Domain / Page Authority is logarithmic, meaning that lower rankings are easier to get, higher rankings harder to get. Makes sense. But does anyone know what logarithmic equation they use? I'm using the domain and page authority as one metric in amongst other metrics in my keyword analysis. I can't have some metrics linear, others exponential and the SEOmoz one logarithmic.

When I crawl my site as a root domain, I get more errors is my campaign than when I set my site as a sub domain. Which one is the correct way: root domain or subdomain. My site is www.aa-rental.com

How is domain authority related to country top level domains?

I've noticed that for some country top level domains (tld) the domain authority returned by open site explorer is based on the domain that has been registered within the tld. For example, domainname.co.uk provides a domain authority specific to the domain. However, for some other country top level domains, this does not appear to be the case.  Examples I have found include: domainname.co.nr domainname.co.pt domainname.co.ee For these top level domains the domain authority seems to be the same for every domainname, seemingly implying the domain authority is for the top level domain itself rather than for the domain. Is this a common situation for many country top level domains, so that what I see going in here is the tip of a large iceberg, or does this situation just apply to a very isolated set of country top level domains?
