How long does it take for the MOZ Local to update?
-
Hello,
I use MOZ local to keep track of major citations for 30+ clients. Sometimes, it happens that I would be working on a new company, which does not have any significant number of active citations. And MOZ local does not seem to update very often, when I have already created citations for that particular new company.
Can anyone update me about, what is the normal timeline for the MOZ Local to update new citations?
I am using this URL to keep track of my company citation ranks: moz.com/local/search.
Thank you in advance.

It does work for single location as it is a cheaper option. So if you were to build your listing manually on the same directories we submit data to, it would cost more. Unless you are using Yext, automated submission tools rely on standard data propagation for each directory to process data. It is known not to be quick process as each directory ingests data at different times/schedules.
if you don't have the time or budget to manually manage your listings, Moz Local would be a quick solution and cheaper solution for data submission.
If you have the time and budget for manual management, it takes longer to claim/verify, then submit the data, however it will be quicker to update than waiting for data propagation.
-
Oh. I thought your moz local per location worked for single locations too. But with this information you just gave me i can cancel and ask for a refund.

Our tool is intended for bulk location submissions for agencies and marketers to submit and manage 100s+ locations. We do recommend if you only have a few listings and the time and budget for manual management, it is a quicker process than data propagation.

I've done them manually, and it takes less time to do it manually than to wait for MOZ LOCAL.

Hi Art
We pick up the changes or updates if our partner's APIs have updated the data. So if our tool is not seeing changes on Superpages, then this means Superpages' API has not been updated with the new information. Our engineers are working with our partners to request better accuracy but as long as the updates are reflected directly on the listings, you are good to go.
-
Also would you be able to provide me with examples of which search engines you are updating the data for? Our engineers confirm that low impact search engines such as hotfrog and city search won't affect the score too much. High impact will be the 7 services we are in partnership with and Google/Facebook/Bing.
-
Hi Art
I just want to confirm if you are seeing incomplete, duplicate, inconsistent listings fall off but not see the score increase? If those changes are not picked up, this would explain the score from not moving. Picking up those changes will depend if the service we are querying has updated their API. Most of the services we are searching will host two databases, one which can be accessed live directly on the page. If our tool is not picking up the changes, then you would need to report those services to let them know their API is not reflecting the updates.
If they are being picked up and the score is not moving, I am researching this with our engineering team and will let you know what I find out.

Dear Chiaryn,
Thank you for your response. I have got another query, related to MOZ local.
Sometimes, when I come across a citation, which is mentioned as either incomplete, duplicate or inconsistent, I do my best to get those fixed. But, at times have been frustrated to see that no changes have taken place on the MOZ local points, or even on the aforementioned Incomplete, inconsistent, duplicate section.
I would appreciate it, if you could let me know, what could be blocking the updates being displayed on MOZ local. And is there a way to expedite the updates on MOZ local ranking points. As, our colleagues do real hard work with citations, I would love to know, how I can best advise my clients on the availability of such updates from the MOZ local.
Thank you.
Best regards,
Art

Update from the Moz Support Team: Please read our update timeframes guide for avoiding delay.
Hey Arthur,
Thanks for reaching out and your interest in Moz Local!
In terms of our direct partners, when you publish a listing using Moz Local, the time it takes our partners to update the listing really depends on how long it takes them to accept the data we push to them and update the information across their servers. This can be anywhere from 1 to 8 weeks but generally is completed by around 4 weeks.
As for our Check Listing tool, that data is pulled live each time a check is run, so we display exactly what the different directories (including our partners) are providing through their backend APIs. It can take those directories up to 8 weeks (with an average of about 4 weeks) anytime you update the data through the directories and engines directly.
I hope this helps! Please let me know if I can help you with anything else.
Chiaryn

Should I use Moz Local?
I have put the time in to review all our business listings and updated it individually. Are there more advantages in using Moz Local besides the convenience? For those that use it, what else have you found to be beneficial? Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks,

Moz Local: Does cancelling change information in business listings?
I was reading the FAQ on Moz Local and would like clarification about this question/answer: What happens to my listings on the sites in your network if I cancel my Moz Local subscription? Moz Local will simply report to the sites in our network that the listing is no longer under management by one of our customers. In this event, Acxiom and Neustar Localeze will revert your listings to their status prior to your Moz Local subscription. In some cases, your other listings will lose enhanced content like website URL, secondary category information, logos, and other images. Moz Local will not actively remove your listing from our network of sites. You will always have the ability to reclaim your listings manually on each site if you decide to cancel your Moz Local subscription. So let's say my business moved to another location. Then I signed up for a Moz Local subscription, updated my business address, and then did not renew. After I cancel the Moz Local subscription, will my business address in the Acxiom and Localeze listings revert to what it was before I changed it through Moz Local? Please let me know. Thanks!

I just submitted a Local listing. How long does it take to propagate?
I'm a newbie for Local but I want to learn it well. How soon will the data be propagated so I can see if there are inconsistencies or duplicates. Thanks!

WIll Moz local submit to all local directories?
I have some variance in my company name (spacing/nospacing) and even my web address, www/non-www so I want to consolidate all of them. On top of that I need to build up my local citations so need to submit to more local directories. Will Moz local take away the job of local directory submission from me? I understand they use like 5 data aggregators, I understand they are the directories of directories, so does that mean these 4 will submit to local directories for me? How many local directories is moz local suppose to get you on? Also I understand it can take a month for your listing to show. In this case, would it not be better to just do it manually? I mean if I submit to yell.com now it's going to be there instantly, on top of that If I don't have the time I can outsource the work to India for very cheap and probably cost less than £84? Thanks

Moz Local Listing Score
Hi there, I purchased MozLocal for my firm on February 27th, about 7 and a half weeks ago to the day. While I've been waiting for the results to populate and the program to do it's work, I've been manually updating all the other listings with photos and categories based off the "missing info" Moz Local provides. Throughout the last almost 8 weeks, my listing score has increased a total of 1%. At this point, should I expect to see any further results from this tool? I'm still seeing "Update in progress", yet it seems enough time has passed for at least something to happen. After two months of waiting, I'm wondering if I would have been better off updating these listings myself. Does anyone have any idea when/if I should be seeing any results?

How does Moz Local work with business that don't have a physical location? (e.g., handyman, locksmith, etc.)
I'm wondering how Moz Local will handle a business that doesn't want to publicly display an address. A handyman, landscaper, or locksmith might want to do something like this. Is it easily handled or do you have to manually try to "work around" to hide the address on sites that let you? Thanks!
