I have a client who has a b2b site catering to a white collar information market.

Looking back in G/A, it appears that they've never had a good organic search Summer, but have made plenty of YOY gains. This Summer is a little better than past Summers.

Personally, I have read about people who take Summer vacations. Mostly in France. This is a U.S. site and U.S. traffic catering to business executives.

I can see it in the parking lot of the downtown office building I work in... fewer cars after Memorial Day and more cars after Labor Day. How seasonal would you expect that kind of organic search traffic to be, say from April vs July?

Would prefer answers from direct B2B experience, rather than guesses. But, if a guess is all you have, I will gladly accept that!

    Thanks... Darcy

      Hi there

This is heavily dependent on the industry and searches done by users historically.

One thing you can look into is Google Trends. Put in phrases or keywords that matter to your business and see the historical performance over the years. You can get the same idea through Google Keyword Planner.

You could also interview the client as well as their customers for seaonalities and get an idea of what they are searching for during peak seasons and off seasons. There may be opportunities there to write content and grow traffic during down periods that will help you for (potentially) years to come. Here's some great tips from experts.

Hope this all helps! Good luck!

Organics around 15% and PPC about the same. Rough average comparing monthly totals average out compared to the summer months.

          Hi Darcy,

B2B sites I've worked on in the past were definitely down over the summer period, particularly in countries such as France, Spain and Italy which tend to have a longer summer break. It was pretty standard to see traffic decreasing by as much as 40% compared with the trend.

One piece of insight which could be useful for you to know was that (if you're lucky enough to be working with a client in the right industry) there tend to be spikes around Novemeber/December and February/March when customers might be wanting to use up some of that leftover annual budget at the end of the calendar or financial year. It can be extremely lucrative if you can tap into that!

            Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the message. How much of a Summer drop do you see?

            Anyone else? Thanks.... Darcy

We have a bit of seasonality and see peaks before and after holidays and the beginning of a quarter. From the beginning of January through memorial day and September through the middle of December we have good organic traffic. Traffic drops a bit during summer. This is a typical pattern for us over the last ten years (we are B2B).

75% Overnight Drop in Organic Search Traffic

On April 10th my organic search clicks dropped 75% overnight. I have never seen anything like it. What Google algorithm change could have caused this? I have no manual actions and my indexed page count is about the same. I have noticed that several queries that I was number one for including my brand have dropped by anywhere from two to ten spots. The brand dropping out of the first spot is what really gets me. There is nothing similar to it at all. My speed score is moderate, so I don't think that is it. My site was down most of the day on the 9th or 10th, but that has never caused a drop in search clicks and the next day they were about the same. I noticed that the CDC now occupies the number one spot for my brand. Even though the exact brand name is nowhere in the text of the CDC page. I think this might be due to Google trying to help official health organizations do better due to COVID19, but the queries I have dropped on have nothing to do with Coronavirus. Also, none of my other sites have seen this type of problem. Only the health site seems affected. I recently did a press release campaign and my link counts are up, so I don't that is it either. The brand page is https://stdcarriers.com and an example of an effected query is Celebrities with STDs.

Does an EAT score on my YMYL site impact my rankings?

I've read some conflicting information on YMYL and EAT.  If the Google Quality Raters are out there reviewing YMYL pages and scoring them on EAT, does that site's score have an impact on that page's/site's ranking?

Why is old site not being deindexed post-migration?

We recently migrated to a new domain (16 days ago), and the new domain is being indexed at a normal rate (2-3k pages per day). The issue is the old domain has not seen any drop in indexed pages. I was expecting a drop in # of indexed pages inversely related to the increase of indexed pages on the new site. Any advice?

Your search - site:domain.com - did not match any documents.

I've recently started work on a new clients website and done some preliminary work with on-page optimisation, and there is still plenty of work to be done and issues to resolve. They are ranking ok on Bing, but they are not getting any ranking on Google at all (except paid) - I tried the site:domain.com search and comes up with no results... so this confirms that something is going on with the google search rank! Can anyone shed light on what can cause this or why this would happen? My next step is to look at their webmaster tools (haven't had access yet), but if anyone has any tips to resolve this or where to look, that would be great! Thanks!

Organic Traffic: Hockey-stick growth followed by slow rampdown of death!

My site, Site Builder Report, was started last year. Months 1 - 6 saw modest organic traffic growth.
Months 6 - 9 saw explosive organic traffic growth.
Months 9 - 12 have seen a steady decrease in organic traffic. (I've attached a graph for visualizing this) The site has not changed much over this time. In fact, in the last 3 months, I've done two things to try to get organic traffic trending upwards again: Increased the amount of long-form articles on the site (from 1 new article every 3 weeks to 1 new article every week) Fixed approxately 150 five hunded (500) errors in Google Webmaster Tools three weeks ago (converted them to 404s) Neither fix has really been able to change the trend (although perhaps it's too early to tell with the fixing of errors). Does this downtrend warrant concern? It's having significant business effects- would hiring an SEO consultant be the next step for reversing this trend? Any thoughts? GeYyuvA

Does adding lots of new content on a site at one time actually hurt you?

When speaking with a client today, he made the comment that he didn't want all of the new content we'd been working to be added to the site all at once for fear that he would get penalized for flooding the site with new content. I don't have any strong data to confirm or refute the claim, is there any truth to it?

Non .Com or .Co Versus .ca or .fm sites - In terms of SEO value

We are launching a new site with a non traditional top level domain . We were looking at either .ca or .in as we are not able to get the traditional .com or .co or .net etc . I was wondering if this has any SEO effect ? Does Google/Bing treat this domain differently .Will it be penalized ? Note : My site is a US based site targeting US audience
