Adult Toys Sites
-
Does anyone know of any changes SEOwise when running an adult toy site versus a normal eCommerce site?
Is there any tips or suggestions that are worth knowing to achieve rankings faster?
Thanks,
-
There is nothing majorly different. The biggest thing is that the adult industry is plagued with spammy techniques so it can be tough to achieve rankings and disheartening when you're doing things legitimately and you see spammers getting rankings and Google doesn't smack them down soon enough. You have to get creative, which is why PornHub is such a great example in the industry.
Best luck!

Thanks Erica,
The rules you sent are only around running PPC or outward facing ads. Is there any major differences from a organic search point of view that I should know about?
I loved the post about what PornHub did.

The first thing to do is familiarize yourself with Google's rules and restrictions around adults sites. The second thing to consider is that Amazon is the biggest seller of sex toys. But before you have a panic attack at trying to take on the giant in e-commerce, I'd do a bunch of competitor research and see what they are doing. Adult sites that distinguish themselves do it in ways just like non-adult sites, and largely by being different. PornHub wrote this article on our site about what they did, which was essentially something their competitors weren't doing. Additionally, if you have a retail location, make sure your local game is on.

Why has my site dropped off the face of Google???
Hi All, My site was ranking well for a long time and suddenly can't be seen at all any more. I have been trying to figure this out for some time and can't get to the bottom of it. Funny thing is also even when searching for my site with a keyword "snowboard gulmarg" my URL www.klinehinmalaya.com does not appear and somewhere way back in the listing my another page www.klinehimalaya.com/packages.php comes up. Any help would be good right now. Thanks in advance, Catherine.

Traffic down after site migration
Hi! I've been working on a campaign for http://www.alwayshobbies.com/, which has seen a 35% in drop in traffic since changing ecommerce platforms. It's now been two months, but there is no sign of recovery. We are in the middle of cleaning up the link profile as part of a resubmission request, but that has been ongoing since before the migration. A lot of redirects were needed after 10k 404s appeared in Webmaster Tools after the new launch, but these have been reduced to around 500. We've been pretty thorough here, but I thought it would be worth checking in case there's something we've missed.

Noindex Mobile Site?
So I wanted to get everyone's opinion. Have a client in online retail on ASP and their developers built a mobile site a while back before we took the client on. For the sake of this post, just assume, resources are limited anddevelopers are not good (constantly break things we request to get fixed). They never installed analytics on the mobile site, so all I have to go off of is referral data on the main stores GA account for m.example.com However if I look to see what is indexed by doing site:m.example.com am not seeing many pages. The mobile site has a ton of internal links in GWT and am questioning its negative impact as there are no canonicals, no mobile sitemap present. In the ideal world, I would implement proper Mobile SEO practices but given the resources of no dev budget and devs not being good, I was thinking about noindexing the mobile site since I can RDP into the site and access robots. Thoughts?

Failing Miserably - Should I Just Bin This Site
I am in the last weeks of my 3 months paid subscription with SEOMOZ and very sad to go. The main reason is that my website design business site is delivering no business to me at the moment. Zero - zip - nada. It has been live for the past 4 years and cumulatively it has probably paid for few beers and pizza. Most of my business has been through word of mouth and not through direct traffic to the site. I had really hoped the site would be the sweet 25% extra. Now the overall website business is reasonably healthy but I cant understand what I am doing worng with the site. I have tried and failed to optimise and am at my wits end what to do with it. If anything my ranking is dropping over the past months. Could any of you guys give me some ideas and tips before I literally hang up the shingle on this site and start from scratch with a new design and revision. I want to rank for website design and as we all know you need to be above the fold on page 1 to do this but I think my overall design and strategy for this site is flawed and I should start again. But if you have ideas then shout before I head over the high Irish sierras for better lands. http://www.grangewebdesign.com is the site - feel free to check it out and give tips -

SEO for Log in Sites
Hello, I just lunched a website where you have to sign up and to log in in order to use it. So I have the home, also a blog but then the rest of the pages are let's say it "hidden".How would you do the seo for it? I have been cheking facebook, foursquare and some others and they use different approaches. Facebook uses the same description in every single page for example. My site is similar to foursquare users have profile, stats, history, ranking. Well, what is your advice?? Thanks a lot

I have a website: www.letsflycheaper.com with a Domain Authority of 80, and my target keywords are keywords like: cheap business class, business class flights.
My target page is: www.letsflycheaper.com/business-class.php. With all my keywords I am page 2 and I have a real hard time getting on the first page, but if I look at my competitors like: www.wholesale-flights.com with a Domain Authority of 'just' 50, crappy backlinks and so on, they are all on the first page with almost all of my keywords that I want to target. What do I do wrong? Can you maybe give me a couple tips on where I should focus on more? Hopefully you guys can help me... Kind Regards, Ramon van Meer0
