Adwords Conversions - Trying to track button clicks that fire when Bootstrap modal contact form clicked/opened
-
Hi there,
I'm trying to implement google adwords conversions on a particular client's website. They have used bootstrap as the framework for their site and mainly open up contact forms within a bootstrap modal, after a button is clicked.
See here: http://www.gtwstorage.co.uk/
I thought I had successfully implemented the adwords conversion tracking however it has been a week now, and my conversions still say they are "unverified". I wonder if anyone else has encountered this before and knows what I might be doing wrong.
Thank you in advance,
Darren

Darren,
When testing the goal, it's looking back on past data. So if it's a new event that is being tracked, then it could be setup correctly and the validation would still say, "0% conversion rate based on your data from the past 7 days."
That being said, if you still don't see any completions after a few days (I'd recommend testing it manually a bit), then let me know and we'll see if we can troubleshoot the issue.

Hi again Trenton,
Bit of a delay in trying this... but I managed to get it going. Sort of. Here's where I'm at.
- Generated the code needed in Raventools.
- Created my goal within Google Analytics as per Raventools instructions.
- Went to Ninjaforms for help implementing the Raventools code on contact form submission.
- Used the following code snippet (http://docs.ninjaforms.com/customer/en/portal/articles/1981036-general-guidance-firing-custom-javascript-on-ajax-submission?b_id=917) to fire the Analytics code on successful submission using Ajax.
- The code in question:jQuery(document).on('submitResponse.example', function( e, response ){ if ( response.errors == false ) { onClick="ga('send', 'event', { eventCategory: 'Contact', eventAction: 'Storage Request', eventLabel: 'Contact Form'});" } return true;});
- Event does not register.
Other things to note:
- I know that my javascript file is working ok as I loaded up some test js to check. So my issue must lie in implementation of the goal, or the code snippet recommended by Ninja Forms.
- When testing the goal, I get this message: "This Goal would have a 0% conversion rate based on your data from the past 7 days. Try a different set-up." But I'm nigh on sure I have set it up correctly! I must be missing something.

Hey Darren,
While I guess you could say that this is a personal preference, it is not without reason for using this specific tracking manner.
The main advantage here is that you'll be tracking form completions, not when someone begins to fill out the form, so it's a more accurate means of tracking. Another advantage is that you'll handle both Google Analytics & Google AdWords tracking in one fell swoop. While you still need to 'import' the conversions to AdWords, there is no need to use the AdWords specific tracking code. Once Google Analytics & Google AdWords are linked, you'll simply just select that specific goal and then import it.
What the raventools link is saying is to put that bit of code in the actual code on the webpage(s) of your site, specifically in the submission section of the code. That way when the 'submit' button of the form is pressed, the code will execute triggering the event in your Google Analytics.
Let me know if you need any further clarification or help here!

Hi Trenton,
Thanks for getting back to me. Really appreciate it.
I fixed that issue - thanks - I had no idea it was a problem.
I'm relatively new to conversions and implementing such tracking. What are the reasons for this process over the one I was asking about? Is it a better, more tried and tested means of tracking? Or is this your preference? Does your suggested process cut the need to implement conversions via adwords altogether (I want to be able to see conversions in adwords as well as analytics)?
Can you clarify something on one of the links you sent to me please? It is this one: https://raventools.com/gaconfig/google-analytics-event-tracking/contact-form/ - near the bottom there is field titled "Place the following code within the code of your submission link:" - is this the submission button?
Thanks a lot!

Hey Darren,
I'm assuming you want to track form completions as Adwords conversions here? I have a way for you to not have to use AdWord's conversion code that is relatively simple, but before we get to that I think the site may be having an issue that might be the reason for you not being able to verify the conversions as of yet.
When I went to http://www.gtwstorage.co.uk/ on both Android, Chrome, & Edge I wasn't able to get any of the forms to properly load. So I think there's a very real chance that this could be a reason for you to not be able to verify the conversion pixel.
Assuming that gets fixed, the best way to track form completions in AdWords as conversions is to implement event tracking in Google Analytics on all form submissions, then create a goal based on that specific event happening, and finally import this goal to AdWords (assuming the AdWords and Google Analytics profiles have already been linked).
If you need help with any of this:
- Here is the Google documentation on linking AdWords & Analytics
- Here is a link to a great tool from Raventools that makes Event creation easy to add to forms
- Here is Google's documentation on creating goals within Google Analytics, including event goals
- Here's some more information from Google about what events are & how they function
- Finally, here's how to import goals from Google Analytics to Google AdWords
While this is a good bit of reading, I promise you that it's worth your time. If you have any further questions on this feel free to respond in this thread and I'll help you through it!
Regards,
Trenton

Adwords inital offer / plan towards a client
This must have beeen asked before, but I have been Googleing all day to find a sample offer made by some premium agency. I am working on my very first Adwords offer and although I certainly have my own ideas what to include, I would love to see an offer that has a great flow and layout. Could somebody please give me a link where I can find something?

Using + in Adwords URL
Hi. I am using keywords in my Destination URL in Adwords. So http://example.com/?football+boots+supplier This was done by someone else and I am trying to understand the full meaning behind this. If I go to the page it links to, it is just the homepage of the website but obviously shows up in Analytics as a landing page that stills out from the general landing page of homepage / Is that the reason so its easier to track the data? I would have though using the Paid referral in Analytics does this better? Any help be great. Thanks

Question regarding Google Adwords?
Just had a question regarding Google Adwords. I have an e-commerce store (kiwimodfurniture.com) in the furniture niche and I originally was planning to create a different ad group for each product. Since I have 1300 products I would have 1300 ad groups. However a lot of the products don't have enough search volume and Google won't display my ads. Then I decided to get a bit more broad. I plan on having an ad group for each sub category on my website. For example, modern lounge chairs, modern arm chairs, modern sofas, etc. Question: Is this too broad? Will the ROI be terrible because of this? Thanks!

Anyone Think AdWords Campaigns Hurt Organic CTRs, Decreasing Organic Rankings?
Hi All, It seems like just about everyone agrees that AdWords campaigns and SEO campaigns bring additional value when used in conjunction (increasing Impressions, Clicks, Conversions, etc.), but has anyone considered AdWords performance harming organic rankings by decreasing engagement metrics? I've been searching for studies, blog posts, investigations, etc. this morning and haven't been able to find anyone discussing this specific idea. Personally, I think decreased engagement for organic results would be relatively evenly distributed among those results, making engagement drops relative and thus nullifying their impact on rankings. Any other ideas out there? Thanks!

Which landing page is used to calculate "Landing Page Experience" of a keyword in Adwords?
In Google Adwords, one ad group can have multiple landing pages, yet keywords are shared. So when I look at the keywords, they use one of the landing pages from ads, but which one? Shall we create separate ad groups and set only one landing page per group to avoid this problem? If this is the way then how come landing page is not a shared property like the keywords in ad groups? I hope someone with enough Google Adwords experience can help me here. Thanks,

Adwords campaign and adgroup ideas
When it comes to SEO, I can do that. When it comes to adwords I tend to scratch my head. No idea why, I just do. Anyways I want to get some ideas of how I can setup a killer campaign and structure it and target relevant keywords. Here is my description of my business We are a private christian school providing preschool, elementary and highschool. We are located in Henderson, NV but service Las Vegas, NV as well. We have some of the highest scores and accolades in Nevada so we pride ourselves with those and feel we should target that. So far when it comes to structure I have come up with this setup Campaigns Henderson adgroups Preschool Top Keywords preschool Example Keywords preschools in henderson, nv preschools in henderson nevada preschool henderson nv preschool henderson nevada top rated Example Keywords top rated preschools in henderson nv top rates preschools in henderson nevada best Example Keywords best preschool in henderson nv best preschool in henderson nevada Elementary Top Keywords private school Example Keywords Elementary private schools in henderson nv Elementary private schools in henderson nevada Elementary private school in henderson nv Elementary private school in henderson nevada top rated Example Keywords top rated elementary private school in henderson nv top rated elementary private school in henderson nevada best Example Keywords best elementary private school in henderson nv High School Top Keywords private school top rated best Las Vegas adgroups Preschool Elementary High School I didn't finish the rest because you should get the point. I don't know if these are exact keywords, I just know that private school, top rated and best tend to be what people type. Then each adgroup will get a relevant ad pertaining to those keywords. Am I going overbaord? or is this a good start?

Wordwatch Software: PPC Adwords campaign managers heard of, tried, or actively using this?
I've been trialing WordWatch for about a month. I'll admit I've been skeptical from the start. I don't quite understand the results they're delivering or how it works. So I did a search for "Wordwatch review" hoping someone out there could shed some light or help me decide whether this software was worth keeping. But all I can find are two suspicious and badly written posts, immediately raising red flags. (Penuguin should have eliminated crap sites using the Flesch-Kincaid reading level, but I digress.) **Wordwatch premise: **They take over keyword bidding to maximize budgets and clicks. They monitor the Adwords campaign to find an "optimal" bid price. Two questions about this premise: How is it different than using the Google settings for optimize for clicks or conversions? Since Google Adwords is based on a Vickery auction, wouldn't lowering my bid only lower my position? Bearing everyone has the same QS, then lowering my bids to the range between 2 positions does not increase my actual cost. I have Wordwatch enabled for a few of my campaigns. Their interface leaves a lot to be desired. They don't report the activity or the changes they make to the campaigns from the dashboard. I had to go into my Adwords Change History to track what they were doing. And lo and behold they're also adding long tail keywords to my ad groups. Bottom line I didn't notice any huge impact, and I don't see how it's better than Google's own version of campaign settings. I don't know that they're really legit. But their marketing was so convincing, and they raised $1.4M that I need other opinions. Any one with some pro/cons, or yay/nays?

Channel Conversion Rates
Hey Mozzers - i was hoping to have a discussion with you guys on conversion rates and would love any feedback on comparative metrics. I plan on keeping my client anonymous and feel free to do the same if you would like. Lets start with some background. This client is an online retailer selling golf training ads, the products range from $20-40, he is based out of the US and this site is targeting consumers (B2C). So far i have assisted him with some site analysis and setting up some pay-per-click campaigns. I feel like his site is doing pretty well conversion-wise but i have little experience with conversion metrics with ecommerce (mostly just lead generation, etc). Here is a quick break down on channel conversion rates: PPC: 0.8% - 1.7%
Paid Search Marketing | | kchandler
Organic: 6.8% - 15%
Direct: 6.2% - 13% His overall site conversion rate is between 2-3% So my question is to you guys. Is this average, above, or below in your past experiences? Based on my research a site conversion rate of 2-3 is pretty good for ecommerce, however i felt like my PPC conversion rate is kind of low. Thanks for the insight - Kyle1
