My "tag" pages are showing up as duplicate content. Is this harmful?
-
Hi. I ran a Moz sitecrawl. I see "Yes" under "Duplicate Page Content" for each of my tag pages. Is this harmful? If so, how do I fix it?
This is a Wordpress site. Tags are used in both the blog and ecommerce sections of the site. Ecommerce is a very small portion.
Thank you.

Our wordpress was built using Divi builder. I have seen Yoast as a plugin on our site. If you point me in the right direction, I most likely could make it happen. I appreciate all the support. Thanks.
-
Are you using any specific seo focused plugins like Yoast or All-in-One SEO? They should have the option to update the Meta Robots tag to NoIndex, Follow.
-
How would I noindex them? I tried searching behind the scenes in wordpress where I listed the tags, but was unable to find?
-
If your Tag pages are creating duplicate content, you can go back and NoIndex those tag pages & they won't show up as duplicates in the index. It may take some time for Google to recrawl, recognize they are noindex'd and then remove them from the SERPs if they were ranking anywhere.
-
If you already have duplicate pages created from tags on a blog post... can you go back and noindex them to have all the duplicate pages eliminated???
-
Seconding adding noindex to tag pages. Unless you want those to rank—and I'm not sure why you would—that's a great way to avoid any issues.
I'm fairly certain it's not the worst duplicate issue to have, though.
-
This is a very common issue. When you publish a new blog post with tags, and your tag pages are index-able, you are essentially posting the same content to two or more places on your site. The two easiest options are either don't use Tags or make your tag pages Noindex.
-
I have recently discovered the same issue with one of my wordpress blogs that is using a different seo plugin than I typically use. It seems as though it has the plugin has the ability to generate unique titles and descriptions based on the name of the tag, but for some reason on this particular one.. it is not.
I can't speak as to how beneficial it would be to have these optimized vs. no-indexing them. I suspect it depends on how the tags are used. For some wordpress sites, having a tag archive appear in search results may not be of much benefit, while others may be a different story. I am interested to see what others have to say about this, but for me personally the tags are more for organization internally and to identify similar content which I display on the blog page and not so much about having another page I am trying to get indexed. Simply put, I have bigger fish to fry...but that is just my opinion.

Magento Site "Title Missing or Empty"
Hi everyone . . ..bear with me as I am "noob". My moz analysis brought up a few "critical" issues, one of which was a missing or empty title for a page. That page is: http://www.thirdcoastsigns.com/sales/guest/form Which does not even appear to be a working page . . . so I'm at a bit of a loss ow to fix this. I suspect it's a little bit of SEO expertise and a little bit of Magento expertise. Thoughts and suggestions welcome! P.S. Look forward to my NEXT noob question about a bunch of pages I have flagged as "Pages with temporary redirects". Stay tuned!

Canonical URLs all show trailing slash on main site pages - using Yoast SEO for Wordpress - how to correct
We are using Yoast for a number of our sites. We use naked domain as the canonical. I have noticed in the header tags that all our sites show the canonical URLs as having a trailing slash: Example: http;//foxspizzajc.com, when I look at the source code, it shows the canonical as http;//foxspizzajc.com/ Of course, it is much more likely that all sites that link to us will not use the trailing slash - so preferably we do not want that to be the canonical - among other reasons. Does this need to be fixed so the trailing slash is removed? I cannot see how to do this in Yoast SEO or in Permalinks structure for Wordpress. Sorry for my ignorance. Thanks for any help.

Duplicate Page Content on pages that appear to be different?
Hi Everyone! My name's Ross, and I work at CHARGED.fm. I worked with Luke, who has asked quite a few questions here, but he has since moved on to a new adventure. So I am trying to step into his role. I am very much a beginner in SEO, so I'm trying to learn a lot of this on the fly, and bear with me if this is something simple. In our latest MOZ Crawl, over 28K high priority issues were detected, and they are all Duplicate Page Content issues. However, when looking at the issues laid out, the examples that it gives for "Duplicate URLs" under each individual issue appear to be completely different pages. They have different page titles, different descriptions, etc. Here's an example. For "LPGA Tickets", it is giving 19 Duplicate URLs. Here are a couple it lists when you expand those:
Moz Pro | | keL.A.xT.o
http://www.charged.fm/one-thousand-one-nights-tickets
http://www.charged.fm/trash-inferno-tickets
http://www.charged.fm/mylan-wtt-smash-hits-tickets
http://www.charged.fm/mickey-thomas-tickets Internally, one reason we thought this might be happening is that even though the pages themselves are different, the structure is completely similar, especially if there are no events listed or if there isn't any content in the News/About sections. We are going to try and noindex pages that don't have events/new content on them as a temporary fix, but is there possibly a different underlying issue somewhere that would cause all of these duplicate page content issues to begin appearing? Any help would be greatly appreciated!0 -
Duplicate Content Issue because of root domain and index.html
SEOMoz crawl diagnostics is suggesting that my root domain and the rootdomain/index.html are duplicate content. What can be done to ensure that both are considered as a single age only?

Solution to "Exact Match Domain" issue?
My website bayjobs.com has done well for years, then virtually disappeared from google on September 28, which is the day of the emd (exact match domain) penalty. Meanwhile, similar sites like bajobs.com and bayareajobfinder.com have fared just fine for keywords "bay area jobs". I was previously around #5 for those keywords, but now not even in top 200. Does anyone have any solution for this? Thanks for any insight!

Page authority questions?
I've been analyzing some IT communities ...in order to check how relevant is the page authority vs PageRank. I found one main site which is organized by "communities'..and every community is a sub-domain. The root domain has an authority of 90/100 which it should be great......so the sub-domains "inherit" part of this authority.... Until here everything seems to be perfect. However, I went deeper and I picked one of these communities. Analyzing the "Linking Root Domain" I discovered it only has only 5 root domains pointing to its home page. Those 5 Root Domains have generated more than 134k links. That doesn't seem to be "natural". Checking those 5 Root Domains I discovered that they have been registered by the same Root Domain site. Ex: Main domain: Domain.com Community1.domain.com Community2.domain.com.... Linking Root Domains: DomainXY.com DomainABC.com DomainRST.com DomainFGH.com DomainOPQ.com It seems to me that it is easy to cheat the authority domain score. Just creating others sites developing the same topic and generating back links to your main domain

Duplicate page title
I own a store www.mzube.co.uk and the scam always says that I have duplicate page titles or duplicate page. What happens is thn I may have for example www.mzube.co.uk/allproducts/page1. And if I hve 20 pages all what will change from each page is the number at the end and all the rest of the page name will be the same but really the pages are if different products. So the scans think I have 20 pages the same but I havent Is this a concern as I don't think I can avoid this Hope you can answer

"Special pricing" on SEO DVDs?
The section for buying your dvd training lists the price for everyone at $119 and the special price for pro members at - $119. Then the text says that the special price will be shown when the item is added to the cart where the special price is - $119. Am I missing something here?
