We are a local real estate company and have landing pages for different communities and cities around our area that display the most recent listings. For example: www.mysite.com/wa/tumwater is our landing page for the city of Tumwater homes for sale. Google has indexed most of our landing pages, but for whatever reason they are displaying either page 2, 3, 4 etc... instead of page 1.  Our Roy, WA landing page is another example. www.mysite.com/wa/roy has recently been showing up on page 1 of Google for "Roy WA homes for sale", but now we are much further down and www.mysite.com/wa/roy?start=80 (page 5) is the only page in the serps. (coincidentally we no longer have 5 pages worth of listings for this city, so this link now redirects to www.mysite.com/wa/roy.) We haven't made any major recent changes to the site. Any help would be much appreciated!

*You can see what my site is in the attached image... I just don't want this post to show up when someone google's the actual name of the business 🙂

      That's weird?

Unless they were already in the process of deindexing.

Best practice is to set the parameter

That would not have made any difference and Google doesn't work that quickly. How old are the screenshots?

Thank you! I'll be putting this in place shortly. Also just to follow up it appears google has resolved this pagination issue, at least from what I can tell. The only change we made right when this happened was switching to a different phone number on all the property detail pages... But I can't imagine that would have made much difference.

              Hi Summithomes

Just to be clear on Logan's advice:

Go to search console and select Crawl from the left-hand menu.

Then URL Parameters > Configure URL parameters

Look for the parameter that controls pagination, usually 'page'

Click Edit on the right-hand side:

In the drop-down menu click 'Select' and select 'Yes, changes, renders or narrows page content'

From the second menu: Paginates Then select: Every URL (see attachment)

Then you are done. Google will understand that this parameter controls pagination.

The full process is here: https://moz.com/blog/seo-guide-to-google-webmaster-recommendations-for-pagination

              Regards

              Nigel

I took a look at the paginated versions of these pages and it looks like canonicals and rel next/prev are all setup correctly. Have you gone into Search Console and specified the purpose of the 'start' parameter? That might help Google better interpret what's going on. Typically pagination is handled by a more accurately named parameter which could be causing confusion, despite having canonical/prev/next tags configured properly. Under the Crawl menu in Search Console, go to URL Parameters and configure 'start' for pagination.

                    Why Google de-rank a website.

Hi, I was inspecting a website which is covering the topic of best wheelbarrow of 2021, it is a new website and and starts ranking on google. But, after few days it got de-rank automatically and Moz is also not showing any result to that. I was wandering why this just happened and what should I do if I made my website and will not face this kind of situation?

                    Google SERPs Show Different Title

Hi Guys, Can anyone please help with my situation. My domain is www.greedybins.com.au. I had title setup in every pages differently, and it has been 2 months since I made the changes. I keep checking by using site:www.greedybins.com.au in search. So far, only 1 title that been show correctly in SERPs. I used SEO Yoast before, I changed to All In One SEO Pack plugin, the titles are changing, but still not accurate as I made it. Somehow Google altered it by itself. I have tried fetch and submit sitemap couple times from Google Search Console. Could anyone please advise?

How to display the full structure of website on Google serps

I have been searching around but unable to gather information as to how we can control or list  top pages of a website on Google's first page , i.e. if we type seomoz in google , we can see the main listing with 6 subdomain listings , which link to Blog , Seo tool , Beginner Seo guide , Learn Seo , Pricing & Plans and login My question is can we control these listings i.e. what to display and what not , and if yes how can we make this type of visibility on first page , by using html or xml sitemaps or theirs something mostly websites are missing. Cause this type of data is coming up for very less websites and mostly websites are with single urls. c43Ki.jpg

Does Google know what footer content is?

We plan to do away with fixed footer content and make, for the most part, the content in the traditional footer area unique just like the 'main' part of the content. This begs the question, do Google know what is footer content as opposed to main on page content?

                    De-indexed from Google

Hi Search Experts! We are just launching a new site for a client with a completely new URL.  The client can not provide any access details for their existing site.  Any ideas how can we get the existing site de-indexed from Google? Thanks guys!

                    Tags showing up in Google

Yesterday a user pointed out to me that Tags were being indexed in Google search results and that was not a good idea. I went into my Yoast settings and checked the "nofollow, index" in my Taxanomies, but when checking the source code for no follow, I found nothing. So instead, I went into the robot.txt and disallowed /tag/ Is that ok? or is that a bad idea? The site is The Tech Block for anyone interested in looking.

New (google) local SERPs has 40 character limit on title length

Should i change my all the page titles for pages that show up in local SERPs to reflect this new limit?  Is there any benefit to leaving it at the old limit and having more keywords in there?  Or would there be benefit to conforming to google's new standard and having shorter titles?
