Free proofreading tool
-
Does anyone use any free / open source profreading tool that not only corrects spelling, double-spacing and capital letters, but also meaning. Let's say it will tell you verb or subject is missing in the sentence. Or that a sentence doesn't make sense, such as 'Dog English he does looks well twelve'.
Thanks.

1. Grammarly
https://www.grammarly.com/Is the most popular tool out there. Is an interesting solution that offers a lot of features. Also has a nice browser integration for Chrome.
It’s designed to provide you with “a better way to write” (their words). It finds and then corrects your grammar mistakes, gives you vocabulary suggestions. Even checks your text for plagiarism.
There are two ways of working with. You can either get the Chrome plugin or use the web app itself. Either way, you get access to the same range of features.
I’ve been working with it for a couple of years now. I can say that it’s the best real-time writer’s aid tool for WordPress out there.
2. Hemingway App
http://www.hemingwayapp.com/Hemingway is a very cool tool, but it’s also a bit different from anything else on this list. Instead of focusing on the micro, so to speak, it encourages you to take a more higher-up view at your writing.
Here’s what I mean. Even though Hemingway will let you know about an odd-looking word here and there, its main job is to improve the readability of your post. To do that, it highlights whole sentences that are either hard to read or very hard to read. Then, it’s up to you to do something about that.
3. Jetpack
https://jetpack.com/Jetpack is one of the most popular WordPress plugins out there. Heck, you already use it on your site for many purposes. But did you know about its “Spelling and Grammar” module? No?
Okay, the module actually started as a separate plugin. Its name is After the Deadline and then got included in the main Jetpack structure.
To activate that module go to (wp-admin > Jetpack > Settings). It adds an advanced spellchecking functionality to your WordPress editor.
4. Ginger
http://www.gingersoftware.com/Ginger is a tool developed by a company called Ginger Software. They’ve made a name for themselves by working on language enhancement technology. They use statistical algorithms and natural language processing. Which, I guess, means that the tool is very effective at what it does. The good thing about Ginger there are many versions available.
- Windows app
- iOS
- Android
- Chrome extension
- Safari extension
The iOS app is their main focus now. What I mean is, every other version of the tool looks like the iOS app.
NOTE: I used Grammarly and Hemingway App for this answer

Looking for tools to benchmark an industry
Hi everyone - I'm trying to benchmark an entire industry. Given that Google seems to adjust what ranking signals should be counted more heavily based on the industry/query - I'd like to be able to benchmark a specific industry. As a silly example - let's say I want to know what ranking signals would most effect coffee shops, real estate agents, or manufacturers. Has anyone here ever found an efficient way to analyze: 1. Who the top 10 are for 5-10 keywords, in that industry 2. What they have in common (e.g. meta info, content length, ssl certs, etc.) 3. What were the differences in the higher ranking ones (domain name registration age, content quality, etc.) It seems like there has to be a way to do this given that Moz, SEM Rush, and others release yearly reports that detail which ranking signals seem to be most important. I'd just like to be able to know what the top ranking signals are for a specific industry, based off of who is ranking really well in that industry already. Thanks!

Tools for finding quality backlinks
Hello Moz Community, A friend of mine who runs an SEO agency uses a few tools to email dozens of websites a day in a semi-automated fashion. We share knowledge a lot, but I still don't know what he uses for this. Can anyone recommend a tool that would help find industry-relevant websites that could accommodate a backlink? I'm looking for a tool that will generate emails to the contacts for each website. Any suggestions would be appreciated! ps. If anyone has any other recommendations for tools for finding good industry-specific citations, please let me know! Thanks, Anton Vasiliv

Approaches found so far:
1. Manually e.g. Mechanical Turk
2. Excel/VBA automation. Requires manual work - for instance, deciding on rules.
3. NLP, Machine Leearning, Text Classification, followed by Power BI or similar for visualization. Easily a few thousand dollars to build in 4-6 weeks.
4. Some agencies offer it as part of their services. 5. But is there a platform/tool that offers this?
Called only Semrush and they didn't know any platform/tool but may offer it in the future.
6. ....... What options am I missing? Thanks. Richard.0 -

Best Keyword tool with global search numbers
I am curious to hear from Moz community about the best keyword tool right now which gives most accurate numbers as Google is hiding the numbers. I have used few tools which allows us to check volume for different countries; but would like to know which tool even has the global search volume & search volume for "multiple" selected countries. Thanks

Which Meta Description Tool is the best??
I use Moz's title tag tool, as I've compared it against titles on Googles and it always correct. But I haven't found a good one for the description. I've tried the two below, but on occasions, they've gotten it wrong. Can anyone suggest a better one?? https://www.portent.com/serp-preview-tool http://www.seomofo.com/snippet-optimizer.html Thanks:)
