I see some PR (press release) sites where they distribute the same content on many different sites and at end they give the source link is that Good SEO Practice or Bad ?

If it is Good Practice then how Google Panda or other algorithms consider it ?

Submitting the same press release content to multiple Press Release Submission sites is generally considered a bad practice. Duplicate content can negatively impact search engine optimization (SEO), leading to potential ranking penalties. Moreover, it diminishes the uniqueness and effectiveness of your message across platforms. 700+ Free Press Release Submission sites may also have terms of service against duplicate submissions, risking account suspension or removal. It's advisable to tailor your releases for each platform to maximize impact and avoid potential repercussions.

            Hi Tymen Boon,

Thanks once again for answering !!

I agree with you that prnewswire has good PA, DA even low spam score .

As you said in your previous reply that we can post on High authority sites. In case, I post a PR content on the same let say prnewswire which is a paid PR site and has more than 100 PR media network (Good+Bad)

Good PA, Good DA, Lower Alexa, Lower Spam score prnewswire overall looks best.

Now, this site distribute my content on 30-40 other sites with same content with source link. Now any time Google Panda updates and the whole network got hit badly as well as prnewswire. then is it effect my site indirectly or directly or not?

            Thanks !!

              Hi Karan,

If you check it on MOZ OSE:

              https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/links?site=prnewswire.com&filter=&source=external&target=page&group=0&page=1&sort=page_authority&anchor_id=&anchor_type=&anchor_text=&from_site=

The site looks ok so. The traffic they have is not very relevant in this case as you only do it for the link. I have multiple business listings on press sites and business review sites like Yelp. "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" i presume.

              Good luck with all!

              Tymen

                Hi Tymen Boon,

                Thanks for your reply !!

As you said that I should post the content on my site first then I can post it on High PA/DA & lower Spam score PR sites with my site's source link.

If we see in case of most popular PR site prnewswire.com it distribute same content on multiple sites more than 30 with its source link at bottom of each PR site . In 2014 Panda 4.0 hit prnewswire badly as given in this report http://searchengineland.com/google-panda-4-0-go-press-release-sites-192789.

In this case what will you say? Thanks !!

                  Hi Karan,

With Press Releases this is always the case. In my opinion it is good as long as you put the content on your own site first. In the press release you than link to this source as you mention. I would advise to look at the link quality (spamscore and DA) of the press sites you want to send it to. It is better to have a couple very good links than a lot of low quality free publicity links.

                  Good luck!

                  Tymen

Breadcrumbs and multiple parent categories on Shopify site - what's the answer?

navigation breadcrumb trail breadcrumbs ux seo

Hi Mozzers... I'm working on a Shopify site - it is polyhierarchical with multiple parent categories for each product. Not uncommon with Shopify because of issues with faceted nav on that platform. The problem is that defining ONE breadcrumb trail back to the homepage, it works against UX, as people will be wanting to go back to the previous search results, primarily, to revisit the parent category specific search (this is an ecommerce site with a huge number of products). So heaven knows what to do. I could do: (1) Home / Product to avoid the issue. Not very good for UX though as where is the previous category page (where more than likely a product search was carried out). (2) Home / Specific Previous Search Page - Parent Category / Product (if that is possible without upsetting SEO performance - I don't think it is - but any advice is welcome) (3) or I could define one specific path and also include: Return to Previous Page / Search as a separate clickback link outside of but adjacent to the breadcrumb trail (I think Macy's used to do that): https://baymard.com/blog/ecommerce-breadcrumbs The problem with defining a specific path is it flys in the face of UX in the context of this site! Although of course defining one path seems to be best practice for SEO. Any help would be gratefully received! Thanks a million, Luke

Is it good or bad to add noindex for empty pages, which will get content dynamically after some days

We have followers, following, friends, etc pages for each user who creates account on our website. so when new user sign up, he may have 0 followers, 0 following and 0 friends, but over period of time he can get those lists go up. we have different pages for followers, following and friends which are allowed for google to index. When user don't have any followers/following/friends, those pages looks empty and we get issue of duplicate content and description too short. so is it better that we add  noindex for those pages temporarily and remove noindex tag when there are at least 2 or more people on those pages. What are side effects of adding noindex when there is no data on those page or benefits of it?

Is it bad for SEO to have a page that is not linked to anywhere on your site?

Hi, We had a content manager request to delete a page from our site. Looking at the traffic to the page, I noticed there were a lot of inbound links from credible sites. Rather than deleting the page, we simply removed it from the navigation, so that a user could still access the page by clicking on a link to it from an external site. Questions: Is it bad for SEO to have a page that is not directly accessible from your site? If no: do we keep this page in our Sitemap, or remove it? If yes: what is a better strategy to ensure the inbound links aren't considered "broken links" and also to minimize any negative impact to our SEO? Should we delete the page and 301 redirect users to the parent page for the page we had previously hidden?

                    Multiple Ecommerce sites, same products

We are a large catalog company with thousands of products across 2 different domains. Google clearly knows that the sites are connected. Both domains are fairly well known brands - thousands of branded searches for each site per month. Roughly half of our products overlap - they appear on both sites. We have a known duplicate content issue - both sites having exactly the same product descriptions, and we are working on it. We've seen that when a product has different content on the 2 sites, frequently, both pages get to page 2 of the SERPs, but that's as far as it goes, despite aggressive white hat link building tactics. 1. Is it possible to get the same product pages on page 1 of the SERPs for both sites? (I think I know the answer...) 2. Should we be canonicalizing (is that a word?) products across the sites? This would get tricky - both sites have roughly the same domain authority, but in different niches. Certain products and keywords naturally rank better on 1 site or the other depending on the niche.

Duplicate Content www vs. non-www and best practices

I have a customer who had prior help on his website and I noticed a 301 redirect in his .htaccess Rule for duplicate content removal : www.domain.com vs domain.com RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^MY-CUSTOMER-SITE.com [NC]
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.MY-CUSTOMER-SITE.com/$1 [R=301,L,NC] The result of this rule is that i type MY-CUSTOMER-SITE.com in the browser and it redirects to www.MY-CUSTOMER-SITE.com I wonder if this is causing issues in SERPS.  If I have some inbound links pointing to www.MY-CUSTOMER-SITE.com and some pointing to MY-CUSTOMER-SITE.com, I would think that this rewrite isn't necessary as it would seem that Googlebot is smart enough to know that these aren't two sites. -----Can you comment on whether this is a best practice for all domains?
-----I've run a report for backlinks.  If my thought is true that there are some pointing to www.www.MY-CUSTOMER-SITE.com and some to the www.MY-CUSTOMER-SITE.com, is there any value in addressing this?

ECommerce product listed in multiple places, best SEO practice?

We have an eCommerce site we have built for a customer and the products are allowed to appear in more than one product category within the web site. Now I know this is a bad idea from a duplicate content point of view, But we are going to allow the customer to select which out of the multiple categories the product appears in will be the default category. This will mean we will have a way of defining what the default url is for a product. So am I correct in thinking all the other urls where the product appears we should add a rel canonical to these pages pointing to the default url to stop duplicate content? Is this the best way?

How get rid of duplicate content, titles, etc on php cartweaver site?

my website http://www.bartramgallery.com was created using php and cartweaver  2.0 about five years ago by a web developer.  I was really happy with the results of the design was inspired to get into web development and have been studying ever since.  My biggest problem at this time is that I am not knowledgable with php and the cartweaver product but am learning as I read more.  The issue is that seomoz tools are reporting tons of duplicate content and duplicate title pages etc.  This is likely from the dynamic urls and same pages with secondary results etc.  I just made a new sitemap with auditmypc I think it was called in an attempt to get rid of all the duplicate page titles but is that going to solve anything or do I need to find another way to configure the site?  There are many pages with the same content competing for page rank and it is a bit frustrating to say the least.  If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated even pointing me in the right direction. Thank you, Jesse
